One of the major differences between professional and consumer saws that consumer saws must be equipped with low-kickback chain (or safety chain) when they are purchased. These chains are required on all saws that have an engine smaller than 3.8 cubic inches.

Whew, believe it or not, I'm not violating the law!My Stihl has a 3.9 cubic inch engine.
What's the law say when putting that same size engine on a blender? I gotta make me one of those gas powered blenders for the pool house parties. Hey, I have a couple of gas powered Kubota engines I got from BC a while back that are just sitting on the shelf. Now I just need to figure how to make a blender run off of one of them.![]()

I choose the Stihl 290. I really think he will like it. Thanks for all of your help, everyone.
Which bar?

Hey now, that's kinda personal isn't it?
Ya just can't go on and let women know which bars we prefer now...![]()

about the outcome, am quite happy to see Cowgirl posted the update, buuUTTT - since RBack brought it up - details are always good! Blunt or pointy bar, how long, yellow or green chain, how knowledgeable/friendly/helpful was the dealer - heck, how did the entire decision play out: before & at the dealer, carry case, spare chain, accessories, safety gear? ..... oh my, this is starting to make me feel like a gossipy old lady!
So what was the outcome? How was the shopping spree? Is he trying to hunt me down because I helped guide you wrong and flirt too much to boot?![]()

I got my case and hat for 30 i think when I bought the saw... I could dig out the receipt and look.... The case is a must have.. I don't have chaps, but always where good leather gloves. I have ear plugs I wear when I do a lot of cutting. If I am only trimming a few branches or something I don't bother with them. I bought all my stuff at one time and I know I saved some cash at the time.
But think we paid $25 or less [like you, we rolled it all into one deal], so no complaints. He loved the chain saw, and the shopping spree was quite expensive. I didn't know there were so many extras. Gee there is the gloves, the chaps, the chains, oil, oil can, and of course the chain saw container. I am sure I missing some things.

Now, I do believe there was fair warning..I should have caught this before, but "how dare you report back without telling us what type of chain he got!"![]()

Rback, are all the women down that way such Smart Alecs?

sawchain not chainsaw I'm guessing .050 X 3/8 RSC3 [18" bar IRRC; Rollomatic E perhaps?] already on there; maybe he likes it.
My only guess, on that carry case, is that they intentionally have the MSRP (and strongly encourage their dealers to hold the price except with a saw purchase) set high enough that a person looking at a new case might just start thinking about a new saw.
I thought about telling her so she could answer it, but my guess is that he went back and bought chains and she has no clue what he bought. Hopefully he got the "real" ones and not the anti-kick BS.I knew when I saw the reply that she did not understand the question.I thought about telling her so she could answer it, but my guess is that he went back and bought chains and she has no clue what he bought.
