Where did some of the old members go ???

Everything was different when I first joined. I got beat up a lot and left for 3 months or so. I came back because I found some really interesting things I wanted to share and get peoples opinion on. Hence me finding things and posting them to get peoples reaction and input / feedback.

And then the forum went down hill from there :mrgreen:
 
i think a lot of members of forums some times need a break and go else where just for a little freshness.....this is why in my opinion all forums need to keep the values they started with but must always change a little to keep things fresh to keep the members coming back......its a little like a marriage.:thumb:

There have been several eras, particularly early on, when all the content here was a competition for who could show the meanest and narrowest view of the world we live in. I'm glad we've gotten past that. And I think the fresh blood has been a positive influence.

Need to find my number. I was early I think but was in a state of flux. Changing girl friends, moving from Alaska to Florida, and selling off all my Alaska toys, so I kind of lost my track. Not much use for 3 snowmachines or my Rhino, and my 1960 Ranger track layer. But I am going to start a new thread on Motor Scooter as that is my new toy. Something about the 75 MPG that I like.
 
I am number 48. I thought i was a charter member. I guess I lost that because I did not post much, but for once in my life I was early in joining. It was BZ that guided me here. I will probably post more now that I have shed my fur and gotten a sun tan. LIfe in God's waiting room.

The ability to agree, or disagree, still remain civil, carry no grudges and still be friends is the real strength of what has made this forum what it is today and kept many of the old time members active with current posts and precipitation.

Now Cali, it is time for us to disagree again to keep it fun, exciting, keep us thinking and interesting for all.....while keeping cityboy on his toes at all times......:mrgreen:

You got that right MT! :thumb: I have a lot more fun interacting with people who do not mirror me. I have come to really like guys like Cali & Daedong because they march to a different drummer. And since I learned to apply the philosophy of "Seek First to Understand, THEN to be understood", I really respect those who think and believe differently than me. I really wish Berg and his daughter would return because I now think I could interact with them better and learn even more about other folks around our world. Hell, I'd even welcome the chance to interact with OkeeDon again. Who knows how that would turn out, but I'd bet he'd be surprised....

In the early days, it was only me that was responsible for keeping the peace. I tried to mediate any disputes as well as I could, and everyone here knows that you can't satisfy everyone every time. I did my job the way that Doc had asked me to do it.

I invited you, along with about 150 other people. Some came to look, and immediately left, because they didn't like what they saw. Some joined, but left because they didn't like the direction of the forums. Many told me that they didn't like some of the photo's that were being posted, and other just felt morally offended by both the pictures and the posts. In my effort to get members, I invited just about everyone that I had interacted with at some level on TBN, without regard for knowing their political or religious convictions. In retrospect, I should have considered that as an important factor, and probably not invited them. When they reported back to the management of TBN, that is when I got booted from TBN.

I wasn'r too active for the longest time because I was on dial-up and it was just too much of a hassle. Anyway, I like it better now than the alleged "good old days" some of you good ole boys seem to like to lament. It's bigger, it's better, and I do not know of any other forum on the Net like it where everybody can talk about so many different subjects without a single defining "theme". That's pretty darned cool in my book!

It would get pretty old pretty fast with the same old old farts talking about the same old things ad-nausium.

And Big Al, you're probably the coolest old fart I know here at FF :respect:. You have no idea how much you inspire many of us here. You have a lot more to offer these new members than you realize.

So, don't lament the loss of some of the original members. Just remember their contributions, and celebrate the opportunity to share your knowledge and wisdom with us young folks. :flowers:

And Doc...I think you've done one hell of a good job with FF! Thanks man!

I do not think that is the case at all. While we have a Site Supporters forum, most discussion is out in the open for all to see.
I think we all get ignored at times. Depends on where your post fits in a thread, timing etc. I've never read a post and thought about replying but decided against it because the person was not a SS or SSS.

I came up with the names and emblems.

What should I change SS & SSS to? I'm always open for suggestions.
 
I think Deerlope just had the wrong idea about the $$$s. It's nothing more than a way for Doc to recognize those who contributed some amount of cash toward helping him run this site...that's all. I never notice the $$$s when/if I respond to someones post.

I sorta miss Judy, Working Woman.
She and I have a lot in common (being widowed for one), but I don't think she liked me when I was new blood around here.
Wish sometimes she'd log in and post her stuff in the mornings like she used to, then I could get a chance to PM her and get to know her.
Something I never did, but often wish I'd done.
