Are they dead ? Did they just decide to up and leave ? Did they not like the direction FF is headed ?

I notice more and more that some old members have quit being involved . Whats up with that . A lot of these guys are why I came here . I'm not going to name names, but some of you other long time members know who I mean and what I am talking about . It sure ain't the same no more ......:unsure:.

We were a bunch of renegades from the other tractor site when this got started here .

Maybe we should have two sections . The ones who want to talk and the ones who want to hear themselves talk .

Maybe I should be in both sections .:doh:
 
I suspect they were overwhelmed by newbie prolific posters who aren't posting about tractors, snowcats, guns, and/or politics. My guess.
Speaking of that, I hear you have a new 10gal hat. Hmm, almost big enough for you to talk out of...:poke: :rolf2:

I don't know what ever happen to him, he used to spit the dummy but always returned a few months later. He has been gone a long time now though, thats OkeeDon.

Dargo seems to be missing, I think

Junkman was another that has left but he was a bit autocratic anyway.
 
Al, I think you are simply seeing a dilution of the content of those original members. Taking a look at the first 25 members to join and who had significant number of posts, there are only two that truly no longer even visit FF, two that frequently lurk, but don't post very often and one that is sporadic and goes for a month or two with nothing, and then participates fully for a while.

Going from the start of the forum, until you joined I can identify perhaps half a dozen that used to participate, but have now vanished.
 
since I am too cheap I have to keep the charter member name tag, but going to fix that soon.

I was invited by junk, near the beginning, dont know what number I am though
 
Forums remind me of other parts of our life that never stay exactly as they were. Always changing. Little bits at a time, but over time the change is dramatic.
Our family lives change, new babies, new jobs, new houses, new hobbies etc.
Work life changes with every new person that comes into your area, and when someone transfers out of your area or retires. Each individual added to a group changes the interaction in one way or another. Forums are much the same with our forum faimly changing daily. I miss the old posters and wish they would come back, every single one of them. They were a major part of the early forum family.
 
I came over here from the other forum because some of the people whose opinion I respected set this up. Yea, Junkman talked me into it and then he up and disappears ... the asshole!!!!! :shifty::shifty:

I wasn'r too active for the longest time because I was on dial-up and it was just too much of a hassle. I still don't have DSL or Hughesnet/Sky Blue but I have got something that makes the internet tolerable. I still miss a couple of the old guys from the other forum but they may show back up. Life never stands still. Still, there have been a lot of additional people here whom I would have never "met" otherwise. On the whole, it's pretty good here although I do still check the other forum occasionally. Usually, it's the same old questions and answers though and the last time I was there some one was trying to tell me that Round-Up would only kill broadleaf weeds and not grass. What an idiot. But like here, there are still a lot of people over there that I still like and respect.

Well, I am sure some people are groaning that I am replying to this....

I think Bobcat was nailed it that things are diluted by more posters, myself included. To be honest when Doc lured my over here I was HAPPY to stop talking about tractors. I also don't own a Snowcat or anything close to it and never will. There are some old members that are not around or not around much that I wish would come back. Having read back through a lot of older stuff there were some great posts made. I think I heard somewhere that someone pissed Dargo off, but my guess is that is has more to do with him being busy than anything.

This place did nothing for me at one time. I didn't even come here to read posts there for awhile. I'm back to reading again, but little posting. All I have time for is the reading part anymore. I belong to quite a few forums and try to read posts in all of them. But that's about all I get done.

I came here because bczoom asked me to. While I do like some of the decussion and the jokes, it seems like if one does not have a SS or SSS attached to his/her sig no one wants to talk with them. I will however always come by and offer my opinion ,like it or not.Whomever was respondsible for starting that elite(ha,ha) club (SS & SSS) should change it to something else.

Man I never have thought that way :huh:. I don't have many people who even want to talk with me and I ain't going to start cuttin out the ones who don't have SSS after their name :doh:. Even my dog bit me .
That would only leave me "Mouse Ear Mike" (Sno OPs) to talk with . And that ain't a pretty thought:dizzy: .

I've shoved a contribution at Doc twice, both times when the system had outgrown the bandwidth package he had bought and it was continually down or frozen. I participate, I contribute. Makes sense to me. The symbols don't mean a club or secret cabal!

If you are looking for a conspiracy, look to the bunch who were giving each other rep points for nonsense posts in round-robin style. At the same time, they were posting even more nonsense because each time you pass another thousand posts, giving rep points assigns a greater number of points to the recipient.

Then they turned on one member and started negging him with those heavyweight negative point assignments. I think because they thought he didn't sound American enough for their tastes. (He wasn't American, why should he conform to their backwoods take on what all Americans should think?).

I think Berg was driven off in similar manner.

There have been several eras, particularly early on, when all the content here was a competition for who could show the meanest and narrowest view of the world we live in. I'm glad we've gotten past that. And I think the fresh blood has been a positive influence.

I have forgotten about Berg .... yea he was a interesting guy but I think he came on board long after FF was set up .
