What is your favorite whiskey?

This time of year i get my fair share of Free bottles of Whiskey from customers and suppliers as a thanks....and to be honest all free Whiskey is good Whiskey:yum::yum::yum::thumb:

Uh, um.....er, turn the lights down a bit and not so loud please.

I was at a client's house last night and brought up this same question. I had no idea he had every whiskey known to man...and then some! I feel like I did this :bonk: all night.

Okay, that Wild Turkey hits kind of hard if you ask me. Who the hell is George Dickle? Never heard of that one. The trouble is that our tasting session involved taking shots of each. I couldn't taste much after the first half a dozrn. Except that black Yeager shit and Cutty Sark. How can people drink that shit?? The Yeager was from the freezer but it didn't help! He put milk in that Cutty crap!! It still tasted like Drano to me.

I'm back. Thought i needed to say a quick prayer to that porcelin god but got stage fright once on my knees to prat. Now I trmember why I don't drink much.:censored: I suppose it was fun last night at that Christmas party but now I gotta go get my car back (yeah, I was the first to give up my keys.) I have another party tonight....oh boy. Maybe I'll try fine sparkling water tonight.

Funny Brent. I used to drink Cutty Sark (scotch & water ....or as a friend used to call it votch and scotter). Not bad but ....overall I can't handle scotch. On rare occasions I'll tip a couple but that's it.

Yeager (aka Jagermeister, aka that black chit) is one of my favorites. It has been known to cause heartburn, but overall I like it for the punch. No it does not taste good ...and it is best served from a freezer or cooler buried in ice, but you have to chase it with a good swig of beer. Oh yeah, it will get your juices flowing. :D

After you bringing this up I decided to have a little Jack Daniels Saturday night (jack & coke). Dang they tasted real good. I ended up having 6 or so drinks and was feeling no pain. I had to quit cause my wife needed some Jack left to make bourbon balls the next day. (Bourbon balls are a holiday treat that many of our co workers look forward to every year. You have to make them a couple weeks before serving.)

Hope you are feeling better by now Brent. How did the party Saturday night go?

I should not laugh to hard. Whiskey did that to me last spring. That whole bottle of Kessler I drank whipped my ass... Which btw... actually uses the slogan "smooth as silk"... FIL got here yesterday... a new bottle of Jack Black and Military Special are in the cabinet.

I don't drink very often anymore but my favorite is still the Macallan Single malt. 12 year old is good enough

I was a bartender while in college. the owner of the bar would always drink that stuff. I had to do the liquor order, and man that stuff is expensive. we would wait until the owner got a little liquored up and then we would pour him well whiskey. You know he never noticed the difference.

Now I believe I warned in an earlier post Turkey might be a bit rough around the edges for a Jack guy. But you just had to find out the hard way..... :poke:

Yag, that's not a whiskey?! It is tastey, but you must like both anise flavors and liquors with a kick - else you either don't like it all or [like Doc noted earlier, I believe] just like it for the kick or pehaps mixes etc.

Cutty? Why oh why? I don't care what the bottle says, that's not whisky nor any whiskey IMO! Drano would be closer IMHO, except I suspect it'd rot your guts slower while clearing drains quicker and cheaper. :raz:

My usual, everyday drinking stuff used to be Johnnie Walker Black or even the Red, depending on my state of affluence at the time. If you like a real peaty Scotch, you'll like Laphroaigh from Islay. It's about as peaty as it gets.

I never did develop a taste for American or Canadian Whiskey. I always found them a little too sweet.

My taste buds are a bit out of practice on this subject too, but not a huge fan of any Johnnie label; a bartender I knew once was clearing his stock of Blue at half price, so I tried a snifter - not bad, but I didn't think worth it for the price and probably not even at half the price. For a smooth tasting single, Glenmorangie is fine with me though! Laphroaigh, oh yes; gotta love Islay malts! :thumb: I think Erik noted Lagavulin earlier, aaahhh tasty!

Similar (but Isle of Skye, I think counts separate from Islay) Talisker makes for a very good "desert" after a spicey dinner. Of course, if we're talking peaty [but now way off Dargo's path] Ardbeg is a good one to separate the men from the boys! Not my favorite [not sure there is one, actually variety and subtle differences I think is one of the beauties of single malts in the first place], but it does hit the spot on occasion!

I was not ever a big Whiskey man ,but I use to keep a bottle of "Suntory Whiskey" around for guest . It always went over well . Guess I need to get some more with the holidays comming up

im on my way:brows:

I needed to go out to Dads today and collect a few things for his funeral . As I open a cabinet , I about fell over . There on the top shelf were two unopened bottles of Japanese Suntory whiskey ! I had given him the one bottle as a gift over 30 years ago . The other was from a good friend who was in the Merchant Marines and gave it to dad about 40 Years ago!
I thought he had drank both of them years ago .

So tonight , Even though I am not a whiskey drinker ,I'll open the smaller bottle and I will be having a drink in honor to my Dads memory.

Here's to you Dad !!

Here's to your dad Al. :thumb: Our family prayers will be with you. Sorry to hear about you loss.

Oh, my, GOD!!! (pick your favorite) Inver House has to be the hands down worst alcohol based stuff I ever tried to drink. (Montezuma Bronze Tequila was a close second, though)

If you think Inver House is bad, try Russian rotten potato juice (vodka) sometime. !:yuk::puke1:

Booker's True Barrel Bourbon--uncut, unfiltered. The first sip will knock your socks off---but, very smooth after that!!
