What are you doing today, II

Well Kasey made it to Portland late Saturday evening.
She/ they are doing well.
I've been distracted from the hellish last shift Saturday night into Sunday, and feel like I've finally recovered somewhat.
I'm back on tomorrow night but we have a good crew on, so there's that.
Holiday pay is good, but I'd much rather just be at home where I'm sane lol

Thanksgiving for us will be Friday.
We're going to the Barn restaurant in Archbold. That is, those of my family members and friends who will be joining us.

Things have been a tad stressful lately.

I put this photo of Kasey on my Facebook telling how she had just stopped in to visit me before she left for Oregon the next morning.
There had been a few negative comments, which truly shocked me and pissed me off quite frankly.
Yes, she dyed her hair pink.
Young girls do that these days.
One comment REALLY riled me.
"Oh yeah, she's gonna fit right in out there"
I had to archive the entire thing from my Facebook.
This is my Granddaughter you're talking about! 😭
/ end rant.

No offense but some people are not into pink hair, lip piercings, or face piercings. Just saying.
I get that.
What you don't know about her, is that she lost her Mother, my son's ex-wife when she was very young.
We've had years of trying to get her in the right mindset.
Every long time member on this forum knows that.
She temp dyed her hair, which is actually a natural red like mine.
She's an intelligent, well rounded sensitive 23 year old.
She's taken a big chance on bettering herself and is going to begin working at a new fabulous job.
I don't like the fact that she dropped nursing and the medical field.
But she's going to become her own person.
I'm very proud of her.
She's got balls like me.

'Tis our first official snow day this winter. It hasn't snowed much overnight but with it forecast to dump a bunch and the majority of the storm coming towards us, school busses were canceled.

So I'm cheerfully delivering labels to various locations in the GM plant when I get a prenotification on my radio that there was one minute until "evacuation drill". 😵‍💫

I took off like a bat 🦇 out a' you know where to get back to the IT department to grab my coat 🧥 just as the evacuation alarm starts bellowing. 📢

Of all days to have this, it is 39 degrees 🥶outside with 25 mph wind. 💨💨💨
Not every poor soul had access to a coat. :bitterCol so there were lots of group hugs. :3some:

10-15 minutes later the "all clear" 🔊 rang out and hundreds of frigid souls hustled back into the building.

The usual chilly data center now feels comfortably warm. ☺️

I'm staying out of the KITCHEN i got yelled at trying to find something for lunch.
I was going to work on disassembling my daughters car parts are supposed to be here friday, but my back hasnt been in the mood to do anything so i'm in the that youtube rabbit hole

I was finally let in the kitchen but only long enough to cut the onions and celery for stuffing for tomorrow
I make it in a crockpot bread cubes, a little water, cream of mushroom soup, onions, celery, dash of celery seed, and the turkey basting juice from the roaster and about 6 hours cook time.

She makes the baked corn, regular corn, green beans, green bean casserole, boils the potatoes and the ham (got one kid who doesn't do turkey another that doesn't like baked corn, and another that doesn't like beam casserole can you say spoiled children!!!!!)
I do the turkey, mash the potatoes

then i consume it all

Kind of a gloomy day for my wife and I, 13 years ago today we had a son born prematurely and unfortunately he only lived for a couple minutes. It's something that never really gets much easier to deal with or accept. We'd had difficulties getting pregnant with our first child, a daughter, so were pleasantly surprised when we got pregnant so quickly when we decided to have another child, but I guess he wasn't meant to be. Fortunately we were able to have another child after, another boy. I'm very blessed to have such a beautiful perfect family, but today always makes me feel a little empty and wonder what he would have been like and how our lives would have been with him in it.

I'm never sure what to think of the after life and all that, but my grandmother was passing away around the time my second son was born and when she was able to still speak she'd say she knew we were going to have a boy because she would say that she kept seeing him in the room with her son, but then she'd remember that her son had passed away but she was certain that the little boy was ours. Then she knew none of that made sense. I can only hope that there is an after life and I get to see him again. My grandmother passed away the day before my second son was born.

Rest in peace Connor, I love you.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!

A buddy and I are going to probably the only restaurant around here that is open. It's normally not a buffet, but for Thanksgiving and Christmas it is with Turkey, Ham and the rest of the traditional stuff.

I found out yesterday that the owner declared it a FREE meal and is calling it Customer Appreciation Day! I'll definitely give the waitress about $20.

We're having a big meal with all the fixings. Just put a big prime rib in the oven to slow cook for at least 4 hours. The Mrs. is currently making everything else.
After that 2PM meal, don't know if I'll want to do much as I'll be bloated.

Happy Thanksgiving! Headed over to the inlaws for lunch and then later in the evening over to my sister's place for a gathering of our side of the family.

Happy Thanksgiving!
I worked last night, so today will be resting!

Tomorrow my son Jeff and I and some other friends will be going to a restaurant in Archbold, Ohio for our celebration.
It's pretty popular at Sauder Village.

My youngest son Ty, his wife and my grandbugs are in N. Carolina until Monday.
Kasey and her friends are preparing a feast of sorts today at the place they're renting in Portland.

My son, his fiancée, her mother, two grandchildren and three dogs visiting for the Holiday.
A Vintage breed Tom Turkey from a hobby farmer friend in the oven, All the fixings on the kitchen counter with Crumpy doing her annual cooking, (Kicking me out of my kitchen) thus leaving me free to enjoy the day. I do get some "Honey do's" assigned but mostly a lazy day for me to just relax and enjoy family.

And, tend the fireplace.

Tough duty.

A Happy Thanksgiving to all!:clap::clap::clap:

Oh yeah, anyone watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade?
🙄
They keep SOME tradition every year, but the hosts always yak too much, "celebrity performers" ? Who were they?
Then of course the commercial ads.
The floats and balloons are always entertaining, but half of those I had no clue.
Just show me the big turkey and Snoopy, and I'm happy 😄

Happy 'merican Thanksgiving.

I had no plans today and had already cleaned up the snow from yesterday's storm so I headed to the deer blind. Nothing moving but there's fresh tracks since the snow ended.

I was finally allowed back in to the kitchen :(.
To do the dishes and pots from yesterday my daughter did one dish washer load last night.
I did another load in the dishwasher today and the roaster pan, 2 crockpots and 2 cookie sheets that don't fit in the dish washer.
And proceeded to get yelled out because I left some water on the floor by the sink.

......... Did you steal a plate when they weren't looking?
No, I have plenty of white plates. Lol

I've been on the phone with our ADON telling her that if we're extremely short staffed tomorrow night into Sunday morning I'm done.
She got all worried and told me they'll have the entire night shift covered.
Trust?
Not me.
I'll believe it once I'm there.
I did a 14 hour shift during covid.
This is weather related.
Pray for me/us.
Almost 60 residents under our care.

We took Kobe to the circus and then to a locally famous family run (for 75+ years) hamburger/casual joint. He wanted McDonalds but I told him they have special french fry dipping sauce (orange sherbet) and he fell in love with the combination of salty fresh cut fries and sweet orange sherbet.

The circus is a fund raiser for the Shriner's Children's Hospitals. It was actually a lot of fun. Not quite up to Ringling Bros & Barham & Bailey's . . . well not close to that. But it was cheap and the fund raising and prices were well worth the costs considering the fact that children benefited from the circus. Seriously a lot of fun.
