Trump to be arrested on Tuesday???

Several sources are now suggesting that former President Donald Trump will be arrested on Tuesday.

The federal government is NOT doing this.

A New York state prosecutor is behind this effort, charges MAY BE pressed for alleged campaign finance violation suggesting that Trump used campaign money to 'pay off' former porn star Stormy Daniels. Or something along these lines. And rumor is that President Trump will be finger printed, photographed, etc. So the full dog & pony show for something that is NOT a felony and NOT being pressed by the Dept of Justice???

Link to just one of many stories (VIDEO AT THE LINK) --> https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2023-03-17/trump-be-arrested-next-week

Now it looks like the one who is about to get arrested may be Donald Trump. Fox News and other sources are reporting that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is preparing to have Trump arrested next week on charges related to his former lawyer Michael Cohen's payment to adult entertainer Stormy Daniels. . . .

This is clearly political. This will not fly well in a court of law.

In fact, by Trump saying this, it will blunt the shock and awe factor by a lot. It will put the media on the defense
as well. It will rally Trump supporters like nothing else can.
This case could prove to the RINO and independents the fallacy the Democrats are trying to pull.
It could be Trump by announcing this before it happens, is putting yet another feather in his hat.
The man is a genius, do not underestimate his ability to see what comes next.

Unfortunately, I think there are still way too many people that think Trump is some how re-electable. Trump's participation in future elections will only serve to fraction the conservative vote and guarantee four more years of some form of Democrat as the President.

At this point Trump is just another Ross Perot.

And Speaker McCarthy is jumping in:

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) responded to former President Donald Trump’s social media post saying that he will be arrested early next week by vowing to have congressional committees look into whether federal funding was involved in the case out of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

“Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump,” McCarthy said. “I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions.”

From THE HILL, a liberal leaning source, that is critical of the pending arrest:

Well worth reading.

“The moment that we are waiting for, we made it to the finale together” — those familiar words from “America’s Got Talent” — could well be the opening line for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg next week, when he is expected to unveil an indictment of former President Trump. With Trump’s reported announcement that he expects to be arrested on Tuesday, it would be a fitting curtain raiser for a case that has developed more like a television production than a criminal prosecution. Indeed, this indictment was repeatedly rejected only to be brought back by popular demand.
Trump faces serious legal threats in the ongoing Mar-a-Lago investigation. But the New York case would be easily dismissed outside of a jurisdiction like New York, where Bragg can count on highly motivated judges and jurors.
Although it may be politically popular, the case is legally pathetic. Bragg is struggling to twist state laws to effectively prosecute a federal case long ago rejected by the Justice Department against Trump over his payment of “hush money” to former stripper Stormy Daniels. In 2018 (yes, that is how long this theory has been around), I wrote how difficult such a federal case would be under existing election laws. Now, six years later, the same theory may be shoehorned into a state claim.
It is extremely difficult to show that paying money to cover up an embarrassing affair was done for election purposes as opposed to an array of obvious other reasons, from protecting a celebrity’s reputation to preserving a marriage. That was demonstrated by the failed federal prosecution of former presidential candidate John Edwards on a much stronger charge of using campaign funds to cover up an affair.
In this case, Trump reportedly paid Daniels $130,000 in the fall of 2016 to cut off or at least reduce any public scandal. The Southern District of New York’s U.S. Attorney’s office had no love lost for Trump, pursuing him and his associates in myriad investigations, but it ultimately rejected a prosecution based on the election law violations. It was not alone: The Federal Election Commission (FEC) chair also expressed doubts about the theory.
Prosecutors working under Bragg’s predecessor, Cyrus Vance Jr.,also reportedly rejected the viability of using a New York law to effectively charge a federal offense.
More importantly, Bragg himself previously expressed doubts about the case, effectively shutting it down soon after he took office. The two lead prosecutors, Carey R. Dunne and Mark F. Pomerantz, resigned in protest. Pomerantz launched a very public campaign against Bragg’s decision, including commenting on a still-pending investigation. He made it clear that Trump was guilty in his mind, even though his former office was still undecided and the grand jury investigation was ongoing.
Pomerantz then did something that shocked many of us as highly unprofessional and improper: Over Bragg’s objection that he was undermining any possible prosecution, Pomerantz published a book detailing the case against an individual who was not charged, let alone convicted.
He was, of course, an instant success in the media that have spent years highlighting a dozen different criminal theories that were never charged against Trump. Pomerantz followed the time-tested combination for success — link Donald Trump to any alleged crime and convey absolute certainty of guilt. For cable TV shows, it was like a heroin hit for an audience in a long agonizing withdrawal.
And the campaign worked. Bragg caved, and “America’s Got Trump” apparently will air after all.
However, before 12 jurors can vote, Bragg still has to get beyond a series of glaring problems which could raise serious appellate challenges later.
While we still do not know the specific state charges in the anticipated indictment, the most-discussed would fall under Section 175 for falsifying business records, based on the claim that Trump used legal expenses to conceal the alleged hush-payments that were supposedly used to violate federal election laws. While some legal experts have insisted such concealment is clearly a criminal matter that must be charged, they were conspicuously silent when Hillary Clinton faced a not-dissimilar campaign-finance allegation.
Last year, the Federal Election Commission fined the Clinton campaign for funding the Steele dossier as a legal expense. The campaign had previously denied funding the dossier, which was used to push false Russia collusion claims against Trump in 2016, and it buried the funding in the campaign’s legal budget. Yet, there was no hue and cry for this type of prosecution in Washington or New York.
A Section 175 charge would normally be a misdemeanor. The only way to convert it into a Class E felony requires a showing that the “intent to defraud includes an intent to commit another crime or to aid or conceal the commission thereof.” That other crime would appear to be the federal election violations which the Justice Department previously declined to charge.
The linkage to a federal offense is critical for another reason: Bragg’s office ran out of time to prosecute this as a misdemeanor years ago; the statute of limitations is two years. Even if he shows this is a viable felony charge, the longer five-year limitation could be hard to establish.

Looks like the political allies of President Trump are planning to make a political situation out of his impending arrest. One has to wonder if there is enough stink raised if the arrest will not actually happen? Maybe that is the game plan? Start a preemptive fire to make the real fire burn out?

Full story, photos, etc at the link above.

MTG: Trump arrest ‘Is what they do in communist countries!’

March 18, 2023 10:15 AM
Donald Trump’s top ally in the House today charged that plans to arrest the former president, possibly next week, is part of a “political persecution” meant to stall his 2024 bid for the White House.
“This is what they do in communist countries,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) told Secrets this morning.
Trump early Saturday confirmed reports that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg would seek his arrest as early as Tuesday.
According to reports, Bragg is under pressure to indict Trump on charges related to the investigation into hush-money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. The investigation, said the reports, is over the Trump Organization’s classification of a $130,000 payment to Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, for an alleged similar payment to Daniels.
It’s considered a misdemeanor, but can be changed to a felony, said the reports.
Greene said that the case is an out-of-control example of the efforts by liberals to bring Trump down and his political career. She also said that it will result in a huge voter backlash.
“Trump will win in the biggest landslide victory if they arrest him. People are furious!” she said.
Greene also said that she is pushing the Republican House conference to investigate Bragg’s efforts and those by the Biden Justice Department targeting Trump, and added that voters will reject the GOP if they do nothing. . .

Or the way the RNC and Bitch McConnell withheld funds to those candidates, that lost mostly to being out spent 10X by the democrats

When they going after Bill Clinton ???????

On this day in 1998, President Bill Clinton settled a sexual harassment lawsuit by making an $850,000 payment. The settlement with Paula Jones, reached without the suit going to trial, heaped fuel on Clinton’s impeachment proceedings by the Republican-controlled House. (He was acquitted in a subsequent Senate trial and completed his term in office.)

In the aftermath of the settlement payment, most of which went to Jones’ attorneys, Robert S. Bennett, Clinton’s attorney, maintained that Jones’ claim was baseless, and that Clinton agreed to settle only to end the lawsuit and move on.

I think it wrong for Trump to call for protests. He should have learned that will go against him whether or not anyone protests.
Some of the would be protesters are saying they'll start a civil war for him over this. That's going way way way to far in my book.

Ya know how Trump always come up with a derogatory nick name for folks he's not fond of?
Well, Stormy Daniels is now giving Trump the nickname 'Tiny'. LOL I had to laugh.

I not sure she is a good witness. Stormy had to fork over $350,000 to THE Donald, court ordered.

That said, this isn't about winning a righteous case in court. It is about getting Trump arrested, and in court.

🤷‍♀️

In addition, one targeted ad on Trump’s Truth Social page is selling “Free Donald Commemorative Gold Bars” for $100. Another ad is promoting Trump 2024 T-shirts at no initial cost, but mentions a $29.95 per month T-shirt Membership in the fine print.

remember the "for sure" big red wave? what happened?

it is my opinion the rabid pro-Trump crowd has vastly underestimated how many of his prior supporters have changed their minds, based on his infantile behavior.
people do want pro-USA policies, law&order, etc. etc. - just not a buffoon running the show.
DeSantis likely can defeat Trump quite easily.

That "Buffoon" had the economy humming. People got real raises and life was much better than under the current fool. Even President Carter was better. I am 76 and have never seen degradation of quality of life in the USA as bad as today.

So, I believe those of the Pro-Trump crowd are solid behind him. However, some of us, the on the fence, worry about four years of Anti-Trumpers impeding the progress and prosperity of our nation.

I would prefer a strong leader like THE Donald over anything the left has presented in the last 35 years. Desantis does fit that bill.

BTW, referring to loyal energetic supporters as being "rabid" is derogatory and disrespectful. I would suggest we all ought to have some respect for members here.

And, quite frankly, only the media believed in the "Red Wave."

As an new entity Trump came on the political scene and was able to awe much of the nation. His unorthodox approach worked. He did do a lot of good for the country. But the DC elite were not happy. An outsider had taken the reins and was making them look bad. Doing things that could have / should have been done long before. There is no way in hell the DC elite will allow it to happen again with Trump. It's not a left right thing. It's DC elite taking the reins to keep their power and money flowing as they want it.

I sure don't think that is what is best for our nation but I see the writing on the wall.

Right now Trump is ahead of all of the republicans that are thinking about running. Actually he is ahead of all of them added together. Of course there are some republicans who are trying to get rid of Trump and are willing to go through another four years with Joe. I wouldn't really call them republicans though. Lifetime politicians who are afraid people will see how much they are screwing the people is what they really are. Willing to take our country farther down just to protect their little club.

So what?

We will still have anti Trumpers and liberals reminding us he was about to be indicted but somehow wiggled out of it.

It was all a scam to discredit the man the left fears. Show piece for the media who will get mileage out of the set-up attempt. These guys will stop at nothing to stay in power. What's that old saying?/// The "H" in Democrat stands for honesty.

Hey mr moderator, watch the name calling. I am one of those rabid supporters you are referring to. Trump was and is the best thing that happened to America in my lifetime, and yes I am old enough that I voted for Regan.
