I think I am shutting down ...

Close to Windsor Castle, where the queen lives? You do know the 'real' name of Windsor Castle, don't you? It's written in large stone over the entrance arch.
No.. Normanton, Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

I have never been to that part of Berkshire.

So how far is it to Panama city? What towns / Cities do you go to when you go to a restaurant or movie etc?

Panama City is 250 miles away . We usually travel to Bocas from Panama City ( 1 hour) by commuter flight from the airport on the other Island of Bocas Del Toro which is 2 miles from our home . We walk from the plane to my Secretary's office and the guys have my boat waiting at her dock . Then its a 10 minute boat ride to the house .
This trip we will take the bus up through the mainland and then grab a water taxi to our island .

We want to do some furniture shopping in David to outfit the lower bedrooms that were just completed last year .I had a local artist build most of the furniture but we want nice mattresses ,Lamps, bedding ,etc for our guest .

I have arranged to have whatever we buy shipped overland by truck and then come in by ferry to the main Island , transferred over to small boats and delivered to the house on our island .

No Movie houses in Bocas . We do have satelite avalible . We usually end up on the deck each night watching sunsets so I doubt we would watch much TV .The stereo is always playing in the background .

We stay out of the tourist traps and only eat at the locals cafes and there are a ton of places to eat . I have one place I go to so often that I do not need to order and they know what I want . WE just walk in and they start bringing out the food ! They been doing that for 8 1/2 years now . LOL.
We usually have the local fishermen stop by the house each day or so and buy live lobster, crab, fish from them . It runs about $1-$1.50 a pound on average . Sometimes the Wife or our guest want to go dive for the dinner but I get seasick swimming in the ocean so I stay home and let them go have there fun .

I have fresh bread delivered every couple days and the little girls that deliver make sure its still hot when I get it .

The men start work at 7 each morning

Juan my #1 Major Domo / Foreman/ caretaker keeps all the workmen/gardeners away from the house until he sees me come out on the front covered deck each morning for my breakfast .

After breakfast Juan then usually comes up stairs , grabs a cup of coffee and then goes over the days work schedule with me .

I really do not know why ,as he knows better than I ever will , what needs to be done .lol

I do not hire the men , I have Juan do this . It establishes a pecking order and the men know that Juan speaks for me,is in charge and he is their boss . If I have a issue with a worker it goes to Juan and he handles it . It saves a lot of headaches with workers trying the cirumvent Juan which I will not allow . Juan has been a faithful and loyal employee for 9 years . He will retire in the house i built for him and he will be given the land it sits on .

YES I KNOW .... I am spoiled ...

It sounds GREAT!!!!!!

I brought the island up on Google Earth. The resolution isn't good but some of the attached photographs are STUNNING!!!!!
No wonder you bore us all to death about with tales of your paradise island, it's really beautiful. I can now understand your desire to plant yourself there. Lotsa and lotsa luck my friend.

I don't "think" I can make a difference , I know I can ..

Then go to it! If'n you have what it takes, then they need you.

May all good things be with you and yours on this adventure of a lifetime. As Doc says, you will have the best of both worlds. Enjoy!

I honestly think I am a Panamaholic .I do know I talk wayyyy too much about it . I probably won't stop talking until my old bones bleach out in the sun :w00t2:.

And to think I was about to tell you about the biggest piece of Pre Columbian Gold artifact I ever saw that was offered to me while I was in Panama .
Thats a story that no one would believe . Straight out of Indiana Jones type stuff !!!:shifty:
