Donald Trump Is Going To Get His Ass Kicked On Tuesday

Drew Magary
Yesterday 9:29am
· Filed to: election 2016

I tweeted about this yesterday, but I’m gonna put the take here because maybe you’re already freaking out about Tuesday and starting to drink heavily. Here’s the deal: Donald Trump is going to get his ass kicked. Anyone who says otherwise is either a) afraid of jinxing it and/or making Hillary Clinton voters complacent (understandable); b) afraid of being wrong (Nate Silver); c) supporting Trump; or d) interested in making this a “horse race” for the sake of maintaining public interest (most of the television media, along with grotesque shitbags like Mark Halperin).

But this isn’t close, and never was. The evidence right there in front of you, if you care to notice. Donald Trump has never led in an aggregate of polls for any significant stretch of time. He hasn’t personally raised any money for his campaign in over a month. He lost all three debates. He’s made virtually no effort to get his voters to the polls, instead relying on a Republican party that is being badly outspent and reduced to waging repugnant (and likely illegal) voter-suppression efforts that—despite being successful in some small areas—will ultimately turn legions more voters against them.

He also made no effort to consolidate his party, and that apathy was on full display at the RNC. It ain’t like the guy has done much to win them over since then, either. Republicans dislike their candidate far more than Democrats dislike theirs. Yes, there is a very loud and visible contingent of Trump voters, especially online. But that army of Nazi Frogs tends to over-amplify Trump’s support, just like commenters are rarely representative of the full audience for any web post (wait for the comments on this post to fill if you require proof).

Trump is basically counting on voters to come out for him based on the sheer force of his personality, which is utterly repellent. Early voting already indicates that he’s fucked. Sure, he has a “path” to victory, if he wins a handful of states he has little chance of winning, slays a dragon, walks across a tightrope while balancing a baseball bat in his tiny palm, and recites the alphabet backwards and in Greek. It’s not akin to missing a chip shot field goal, or an underdog winning the World Series, or any other dumb sports analogy.

To believe that this butternut turd has any shot to win the Presidency is to believe that there is a sizable portion of the electorate that will break his way at the last moment, and there isn’t. I’m sure there are some undecided voters out there, but Larry David had those people pegged ages ago. Undecided voters tend to be idiots, liars, and/or attention whores, and there are always far fewer of them than it seems. More people support Clinton, and Clinton will get more of her people to vote than Trump will. Hence, asskicking.

Of course, none of this should discourage you from voting. If anything, you should be even more excited to vote on Tuesday, to experience the immense satisfaction of flushing Trump down the toilet for good. More important, you could also potentially help to deal Republicans the down-ballot losses they so richly deserve for supporting this tasteless, dictatorial shitbag. That’s where the real suspense is.

But the main event is settled. Donald Trump is going to get his ass handed to him, because he is bottom-feeding scum, and most voters figured that out a long, long time ago.

I fee like people are completely ignoring the fact that their is a solid portion of his own party that has committed to vote against him. It’s not just columnists, look at the counties surrounding Philly. It’s hard enough to win a republican with 100% of your own part voting for you.

As much as people point at the “lack of enthusiasm” with the left for Hillary, it’s not equivalent.

Both candidates have a knack for “curb your enthusiasm.”

Hillary is way more of a mainstream republican than trump ever was

“I fee like people are completely ignoring the fact that their is a solid portion of his own party that has committed to vote against him.”

I’m not. My father, uncle and aunt are all proud Republicans (dad started to break after the 47% thing last election). All three of them are going to vote for a Democrat for the first time in their lives because they find Donald Trump so repugnant and they are all in swing states.

Tuesday is going to be brutal.

Same’s true of the other side of the line. A solid portion of Democrats have committed to vote against Hillary as well. That doesn’t mean she’s going to lose.

What it comes down to, unlike what this article and your comment say, is who actually shows up to the polls. Who has the most to gain from this election. That’s why I ignore the polls and what portions of what parties commit to voting a certain way; don’t mean a thing if people don’t vote.

I don’t know. It could be close. He got two newspapers to endorse him. What’s that you say? One of those is owned by Sheldon Adelson and the other the KKK?

All Americans owe it to each other to give this ignorant, racist, sexist, megalomaniac piece of shit the drubbing of a lifetime. The fact that he will get tens of millions of votes is a nasty shit stain on America’s reputation.

Running a shitty candidate solely on the basis that he’s “not the other guy” is a great way to lose a winnable election. (See Dole ‘96, Kerry ‘04, McCain ‘08, Romney ‘12.) If the Democrats lose this one it’s their own damned fault for trotting out another Clinton.

(No, I’m not a Berniebro, he’d have been a disaster as the nominee.)

No, I simply am saying Hillary is a terrible candidate with limited appeal that the entire Democratic party anointed from Day 1, making it virtually impossible for other candidates to have a shot. Hell Sanders, a fringe protest candidate at best, almost beat her anyways. Imagine if say Warren just for an example, or many other people weren’t essentially silenced, had run?

Here’s what would have happened, we wouldn’t have a party whose entire message is essentially “don’t vote for the other guy, he’s worse.”

JohnTChanceLPShea

I doubt Lincoln Chaffee or Martin O’Malley was the answer, either. I agree if this was Obama, he’d be up by 40, but he can’t run again. If anything, the Dems need to refresh their bench the next four years.

There are so many “toss-up” states going by recent polling that it’s terrifying enough. There’s a very good chance that Hillary wins but doesn’t get past 300, which would be the closest election since 2004.

Somebody please explain what happened in this country where Sarah Palin was enough to bring somebody as respected as John McCain into the gutter but Donald Trump can come within sneezing distance of the presidency only 8 years later.

I voted early and I’m convinced there needs to be some sort of test you take before you’re allowed to vote. Just basic test to make sure you’re not a complete maniac. I don’t know how many people had to be told the booth was not touch screen and how many others couldn’t work the little wheel. There was also a 60ish male outside with a confederate flag and a cast on his leg with a painted confederate flag. I don’t know if people are scared of a woman or scared of Hilary.

Fox News execs have to be jumping for joy because their ratings will soar. Gun makers probably can’t produce fast enough.

I just wish someone..anyone..maybe Drew, will do a retrospective Obama piece. I want to see all the shit listed before he was elected and then show how ridiculous it was and that none of it happened. In the end the only shit people could talk about him was he wasn’t born here. I didn’t agree with every policy he put in place but it’s got to be tough to be an accused terrorist sympathizer tied in with all the racial shit. The man always stayed presidential.

This statement is why the modern liberal movement is just as intellectually bankrupt as the conservatives. “People who disagree with me obviously are of low intelligence and shouldn’t count.”

Maybe when the left realizes their echo chamber is as arrogant and obnoxious as the right’s is scared and angry they’ll actually help solve problems and not make them worse.

I’m someone who’s freely criticized both major parties in the past and will certainly do so in the future, but the Democratic Party wasn’t the one stirring its base into a frenzied bloodlust about jailing and executing the opponent, or crafting outlandish conspiracies like saying the opponent murdered people.

“But the other guys are worse.” is sooooo inspiring.

Here’s a thought, what if in reality a large portion of right leaning people aren’t racist, fire breathing, psychos the left makes them out to be? What if they are merely feeling alienated by the political system, distrustful of Washington, and quite understandably are feeling a little scared about their future?

While I’d agree with you that the GOP, while speaking to their fears, does a poor job actually offering solutions, what’s the alternative? The left? Who spends all their time denigrating them, calling them dumb, yet at the same times offers up a candidate who offers them virtually nothing in regards to the very real problems facing them?

PowersurgeonLPShea

I look at it this way ... when rules don’t favor republicans they just make up new rules, shoddiliy justify this absurd rulemaking, then continue under the auspices of their new absurd rules. See the Merrick Garland nomination. See the efforts to suppress minority voter turnout with armed white militiamen or ID requirements.

If Republicans can do it, Dems should be able to do this as well, right? “Well, we don’t like Republican voters, so find some rule that disqualifies them.” Requiring a basic knowledge of civics before voting is a sensible solution— after all voters should be cognizant of the ramifications of their vote. If you eliminate people with a sub 100 IQ from voting, the GOP would be annihilated.

crayoneaterWheelerguy

Then it will fail faster than a billion dollar casino.

Not sure where this guy gets his info but from what I've read early voting was leaning Trumps way. Traditionally early voting leans to the Dems. This year it is not doing so in the numbers that it did for Obama. to me that means it is favoring Trump.

Too much crack and cheap herion, obviously.

Watching a local political talk show on PBS yesterday morning, and they were saying that the race will be called early, before 10pm, and that if things keep going the way they are Trump wins. Michigan right now has the polls tied and just last week hitlery was winning by 5 points, this tells me the tide is turning against the witch.

I hope and pray that happens Mr. L.

I'm thinking of unplugging the TV for the next three days and burying my head in the ground and then hoping for the best.

The friends next door want to go to an election supper tomorrow, then gather around the television watching the coverage.
Not so sure I'll want to do either.

I'll have to remember to make a big batch of popcorn as I sit on the sidelines watching this sh-tshow. This is rather amusing to watch. My only fear is how it will affect things globally since the Canadian economy is largely affected by what you guys do and the choices you make.

Speaking of money, you guys better watch it, if Trump gets elected you guys may have to start paying your fair share to NATO.:yum::biggrin::yum::flowers:

I do hope Trump wins because my BIL and his daughter have both said they are going to move to Canada. I just hope Canada is ready for a couple more nuts.

Desperation is the usual breeding ground for such whimsy.

:whistling:

For better or for worse, the Pimple pops Tuesday. Assuming Hillary won't go ballistic and demand a recount,,,; It will only be sore for a few days after.

One of my old college roommates who went on to graduate #1 from his Harvard Law School class told me that the deal for Killary to be elected this year was consummated back in 2008. So far he has been proven right that Bernie was nothing but a sham. Trump may have almost as much money, but if it gets too close for the media to hide, he likely will have a stroke or heart attack.

You kids better be prepared for this thread's title to come true.

I pray it doesn't, but I am realistic enough to realize it probably will.

The ONLY republican that Hillary could beat is Trump.

Larry, I think most of us here are being realistic that it could go either way, but are holding out in hopes that American voters will vote with their hearts and minds in the end.

I have heard that so often it has left "trite" in the dust. Perhaps Trump is the only one she could beat, but that
doesn't automatically mean she WILL beat him!

Win or lose Trump's accomplishment will be that an "outsider" can run and be effective in changing the political climate in D.C. Hopefully this will be the start of a major change in the political dynamics of our political system and government in general. He is not a loser but a WINNER for what he has done to shake up both political parties that their time is coming to an end.

I was sure worried but glad this dude was WRONG in a big way.

I read where some of the rappers are now complaining and protesting saying this is 'White-Lash' against a black president. OMG. Idiots. They truly do not get it.

Many of us did not want Obama in office 4 years ago or 8 years ago. It had nothing to do with color. It had to do with his policies and beliefs. But we did not protest in the streets and destroy stuff when he won both times. We sucked it up and moved on. Sure we complained but that's allowed and does not hurt anyone.

Now it's time for all of those ridiculously out of touch lefty Hollywood celebs to make good on their promises to leave the country.

Yep hollyweird should be a ghost town in a few days, damn I hate it Canada doesn't deserve to have to put up with all those idiots!

Dragonfly Lady is actually concerned about this. Her oldest niece and her husband are in the TV/movie business and they
also said they would move to Canada if Trump won. I think it was hyperbole, but she is worried they might actually do it,
and she wouldn't be able to see the grandnieces and nephews grow up.

IF any leave I predict they'll be back in short order once they realize no matter who is president no other country can offer them what this country can. Most will wise up and put on their big boy / big girl pants and stay right where they are.

I do think some of the celebs actually thought they could influence the vote by saying they'd leave. They just didn't understand they probably helped Trump win the election.

... They just didn't understand they probably helped Trump win the election.

The same concept occurred to me last nite, after the results were pretty much decided, I switched to MSNBC, which I never watch (it still sucks), and the "commentators" were all whining and moaning.

they STILL didn't have a clue that THEY were being rejected too
