impressive PG well done.:flowers:......I just done the math and with 23,000 posts that's 0.2 rep points per post.

Mine works out at 8.4 rep's per post....:yum::yum::yum:.....I shall also give myself a pat on the back:clap:

Bloody Hell.....Jan aka lilnixon is way ahead on the rep points per post....43.6...nixon is 19.4....another one his wife has over him:yum::yum::yum:

I see this pop up every now and then,
What is a REP and what do you do with it?
Can some explain how that system works?

CONGRATS PG!

fubar, a Rep is basically like giving a thumbs up to a post. on every post there is a set of green dots, some have more, and a select few have red ones. the red ones mean we dont like you :yum::yum::yum:

the green ones mean we do like you! you have a good bit yourself, Fubar. they are shown under where it has your location, join date, and postcount. go to your user cp and scroll down under the subscribed threads and you will see rep points that have been given to you.

to give a rep point, there is a scale at the top of every post next the the red triangle in the upper left corner above the join date, location, ect. click the scale to give reps to someone. hope this helps!

I guess mine is different, or I'm just blind.
Above the join date I have a white triangle, and a set of scales.
If I highlight the scales I can leave a comment for someone else, but there is no reference to reps or points.
Is this like a 'badge' thing or can I trade them in for beer? (I share beers)

Yep, the scales allow you to give rep points. The little green thingies under your post count show your current reputation. To see comments the last five folks left when they gave you reps go to your user cp (up top under the forum logo you'll see user CP in the same ribbon bar that has new posts, community, calendar, quick links, etc.)

Sure you can trade em for beer. You buy the beer I'll give you rep points. :D :yum:

I found all of that, I think, and I see where is says to add to someones reputation but I didn't see where one might specify a quantity of point to give. But there is no need to belabor this.
thx for the explaination and

Congrats PG, that's a lot of post, with a super reputation to show for it.

You earn "Rep Power" by the number of rep points you've earned plus the amount of time you've been on the forum. You cannot give x amount of points, you can only give whatever your 'Rep Power" value is worth. That is what makes PG's accomplishment even more awesome. Course now if PG gives anyone points :wow: they'll get a lot as she has a HUGE Rep Power (1042 points every time she gives you reps).
You can see the top fives members in rep points when you go to:
http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/index.php
Look down the page for top five stats and click on the down arrow by top posters and select top reputations. You'll see PG is number 1 and it shows her rep power. Interesting if you like stats.

Galvi,

It never occurred to me to look at Rep points on a per-post basis until now. Just for the halibut I did the math and came up with 20.87 points per post - a long way below Jan but a number that still boggles the mind. Thanks everybody!!!

One good point about the rep system, is it cannot be rigged. Lets say you get your little brother to join. And you want to boost his reps. You can't. Well you can 1 time. If you try again.. you are told you "must spread some reps around before you can give this member reps again" Or whatever V bulliten says. I've wanted to give reps twice in a row to goofy good posters.. and couldn't.
So.. in conclusion.. if you have reps... you have earned them.

Looks like Cowboy moved up a notch with Muleman moving up fast also. Congrates you three. :thumb:

Dunno about the new avatar, PG. She's not pretty enough for you.

I still like the spikey-haired, 80's horse pictures.... :in_love:
