HOUSE PASSED the One Big Beautiful Bill -- SENATE to RE-WRITE the One Big Beautiful Bill

And in the mean time, Musk is going nuclear on the One Big Beautiful Bill.

Nicely summarized by ZeroHedge: https://www.zerohedge.com/political...allistic-against-gop-tax-and-spending-package

Kill (The) Bill: Musk Goes Ballistic Against GOP Tax And Spending Package

Let's be honest, Elon Musk has been made a fool of by the GOP. After assembling the DOGE team and spending months finding egregious levels of waste, fraud and abuse within the US government - i.e. what Trump supporters voted for - House and Senate Republicans gave Musk a little pat on the head, then proceeded to roll out President Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' - that codified exactly zero of DOGE's findings, raises the debt ceiling by $5 trillion, and relies on ambitious economic projections to achieve what the White House insists is $1.4 trillion in savings (while the Congressional Budget Office projects deficits of $1.7 - $2.3 trillion over the next decade).
Needless to say, Musk is livid.
On Tuesday, Musk posted to X, "I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination."
His post was immediately met with support from Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who said "We can and must do better."

This sent the White House scrambling to do damage control - with Budget Director Russ Vought sending Congress a request for a $9.4 billion clawback for unspent foreign aid funding - which if you're Musk, after what DOGE has uncovered, is a huge slap in the face.

Kill (the) Bill

On Wednesday, Musk continued to rage on X - posting: "Call your Senator, Call your Congressman, Bankrupting America is NOT ok! Kill the Bill." - followed by a 'Kill Bill' movie poster featuring Uma Thurman.

Musk's solution? A new spending bill that doesn't jack the debt ceiling by $5 trillion dollars while "massively" growing the deficit.

"Needless to say, the GOP has quite the shitshow on its hands. Maybe next time enact the will of the people, bitchez. "

YUP!

Nah, that would make sense and be to easy.

They have muck it up, get at lease a third, maybe even 2/3rds of the people pissed off at them.

And then have the richest man in the world rebel and stand behind the masses of people, before the politicians make some concession to maybe, in the near future, doing what the people actually want.

Only time with tell if they act. But the voices are clear.

Remain skeptical. Remain vigilant.

Call your Senator to increase spending cuts and reduce SALT and other pork.

Exclusive — Sen. Rand Paul: My Goal Is Not to Stop Big Beautiful Bill, But ‘Make It Better’

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) hopes to make the “big, beautiful bill” much “better” — not to “stop” it, he said during an appearance on Breitbart News Daily.
Paul, a critic of the bill now in the U.S. Senate, told host Mike Slater that he has maintained throughout his time as senator that debt is a problem.
“One of the things that I’ve always promised is that the debt is a problem — that has to come down — and that the debt is a bipartisan problem, that I’m an equal opportunity critic of both parties. You know, they have to — they have to do a better job. I’m conservative before I am anything else,” Paul said. “I’m a fiscal conservative.”
“But the thing is, is I can tell you my goal’s not to stop bill. My goal’s to make it better,” he explained. “So really, there is a compromise. Short term, short term increase in the debt ceiling, or separate into a separate vote, and you have my vote. But it can’t be — I’m not enough to stop this bill. Anyway, it takes four people. So I’ve been advocating and wish there were four that were as loud as I am, because we’d have had this fixed months ago,” Paul explained. . . .

And the RINOs are coming in to preserve BIG SPENDING

Senior House Republican opposes White House proposal to cut public media funding

But the lawmaker didn’t say whether he would vote against the recissions package.

A top House Republican appropriator opposes the Trump administration’s plans to claw back funding for public media — a potential problem for GOP leaders who need near-unity within their party to pass the White House’s request that Congress revoke billions of dollars it has already approved.
Rep. Mark Amodei of Nevada, who leads the subcommittee with jurisdiction over the Department of Homeland Security, on Monday joined with Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) to urge the administration to reconsider its proposal to cut $1.1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funds PBS and NPR . . .

SENATE had their FIRST (of many) votes today on the One Big Beautiful Bill.

Thom Tillis, Rand Paul and Ron Johnson all cast "NO" votes. JD Vance is expected to arrive in the Senate as a tie breaker vote.

Vice President JD Vance has arrived at the Capitol to potentially cast a tiebreaking vote to advance the GOP megabill. He was accompanied by Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri, who golfed earlier today with President Donald Trump. Four other GOP senators — Mike Lee of Utah, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Rick Scott of Florida — have yet to vote. All need to vote “yes” to advance the legislation.

House could vote as early as Tuesday.

The bill was stripped of all the Pro-Gun provision, the bill was stripped of virtually all spending cuts. The one big thing that remains, which is big, are the original Trump Tax Cuts from his first term that are expiring. So that alone is a decent reason to support the bill, assuming there is no new spending. But, of course, there is a lot of new spending.

MEANWHILE . . . ELON MUSK has renewed his attacks on the Big Beautiful Bill.

He has stated it will cost the US economy many MILLIONS of jobs if it passes as is.

I just want them to realize 2 things

1: They are spending our money without our approval!
2: They work for us and if they keep this up they will be unemployed!

The Senate voted to pass the 'procedure' to allow the full Senate vote, which could happen Sunday/Monday. Ron Johnson switched to a YES vote at the end. Thom Tillis and Rand Paul both voted no.

This vote PRESERVES the Trump Tax Cuts. It also rolls back much of the Biden 'green agenda' policies, but so many other good things have been stripped from the bill. And some of the bad things still remain in the bill. If it only contained the Trump Tax Cuts and roll back of the green new deal policies we could all agree on it. But the devil is always in the details, like the SALT tax being raised to $40,000 which effectively bails out taxpayers in the deep blue states, and many other things.

F***ing RINOS just keep spending more and more.

SENATE bill is cutting in some places, adding debt and raising the debt ceiling.

HOUSE version was far from perfect but is the Senate making it impassable?

One thing is clear, we need the Trump Tax Cuts from his first term to be made permanent. But we don't want more spending. What are the odds now that the Senate and the House can agree in "reconciliation"?

YEA!!!!!
If for no other reason than I am tired of hearing about it all day after day. Aud nauseum.
Whatever it is good and or bad, we'll never get through it until we have it done.
It is finally, finally, done!
Let's move on.

CALL JIM THUNE AND ASK HIM WHY THE PARLAMTARIAN CAN STOP A PART OF THE BILL THAT THEY APPROVD??????

LIVE video of the VOTE count of the HOUSE Procedural Vote (this is the 1st of several votes)
AS I POST THIS, the vote is ALL 216 Democrats AGAINST the BBB.
Currently the GOP has 207 YES votes. 5 NO votes. And 8 who have not yet voted.
While maths are hard, a 216 to 216 vote = a loss
The current vote is 207 to 217 with 8 who have not yet voted. Currently if all 8 of the remaining representatives vote YES then the vote loses.

So President Trump & Speaker Johnson MUST get one of the 2 "no" votes to 'flip' to yes, and they also must get all 8 of the representatives who have NOT YET VOTED to vote YES.

The 5 "no" votes hold all the power. But if any one of the people who have not voted yet go to NO, they also must flip.

The time on the video shows 0:00 but there is no time limit on this vote.

Yup, same old shit. Nothings changed.
And BTW, what politician has been arrested or indicted so far?
It is a very touchy subject messing with members of Congress. Prosecution for crimes being the hardest to accomplish. I continue to hope that once this BBB gets passed, President Trump will feel more comfortable with turning Pam Bondi and Kask Patel loose on the Ilean Omars and AOC members now residing in our Congress.

It is obvious that politics awards some protection for illegal acts by politicians. Not fair but it is the way it works in Washington.

If any of the lefty scumbags fail to get re-elected, their get out of jail card expires.
Adam Shiff needs to keep a suitcase packed.
We shall see.

FWIW

I am HAPPY it passed.

This makes permanent the first term tax cuts. That is huge. And now business can move forward with some level of certinatly in the tax code. There are plenty of pro-growth initiatives in energy reforms and tax codes and deregulations in the bill to put us on a pro-growth trajectory.

I am UNHAPPY with some provisions and I am UNHAPPY with some omissions.

But the main goal of the BBB was to make permeant the tax cuts. The secondary goals of sea-change energy policies are another win. The lack of spending reduction is a major loss.

MY HOPE, and this is a hold my breath until I turn blue home, is that the NEXT order of business

Yes, the bill is not perfect, but it is better than most. It's the most conservative bill we could have hoped for given the congress members we have at the present.

It was far from perfect, I feel side deals were made, we were sold down the river, the parliamentarian was blamed, could have been ignored or removed. Just a convenient excuse to screw us out of the promises made but not kept.
But it's the best deal we could have gotten with whom we have in congress. It barely passed as it was.
