WHAT SAUCE??!!!!!!????

Ok, here's the deal.
Years ago, my oldest son and his buddies took a trip to West Virginia.
He said they stopped at some Italian restaurant and got pepperoni rolls?
I've never heard of them-apparently they are exclusive to a particular part of WV?
Then he said the friend of a friend's mother made homemade pepperoni rolls and she used the sauce that is supposed to be served on them, and that it's available only in West Virginia:huh:
Now he's driving me nuts because he wants the sauce.
It's got a name (the brand).
Anyone got a clue what it may be
*tearing hair out*
If I find out, I'll order him a whole case if possible.:bonk:

Well the kid lived in Clarksburg.
Trouble is, he hasn't talked to this guy in years and lost contact with him.
Now Jeff's (my son's) wife wants to make the pepperoni rolls and he wants the sauce to go with them.
All I can find are recipe's for a marinara type thing.
No actual brand on the market.

This might be it!!!
K-dog have you ever heard of it?

Back home in WV, there is a small company that makes "Olivero's Peppers" unfortunately the last place in Toledo that sells them stopped several months back and the only time I can get them is when I go back home.
So I'm seeking a good recipe for making something like this treat. As the ingredient's show, all it is is, Peppers, pureed tomatoes, whole tomato's, vinegar and salt. Think the peppers are Hungarian wax mixed with regular green bell peppers.
While the ingredient's seem small, I have yet to find a local product that is as good. Any tips? Being this is Toledo I figure there are some Hungarian or similar recipe's in the family cookbook. Anyone mind sharing?
The closest thing I've found to this "taste" is the sauce that Tony Packo's uses in their stuffed pigs in a blanket recipe.

I'm from Las Vegas but my mom is from Salem, WV just a few miles from Clarksburg where Oliverio's is. My uncle called the store and they shipped him a case of the peppers. Thanksgiving was my first taste of the peppers and they were sooo good. Let me know if you ever find a recipe. I did find a site that will ship both pepperoni rolls and Oliverio's peppers but it would be easier (and cheaper) to make my own!
:punk:

CONFIRMATION!!
per a phone call to Cuyahoga Falls which awoke my sonshine from his slumber:rolf2:

Me: "Jeff? I found the sauce you wanted, I think."
Jeff: "Mom, why are you calling me this late to tell me this?"
Me: "Because you drove me bats wanting to know if I could find it for you."
Jeff: "ok, you gonna get me some?"
Me: "what?? I found it for you, here's the website, ORDER it."
Jeff: "are you sure it's the right one?"
Me: "Did you fail to tell me it was a sauce with peppers and not just a plain type of sauce?"
Jeff: "Oh, sorry."

Me: "I'll order a case, this is your early Christmas present."
Jeff: "Love you Mom."
Me: "You drive me nuts."

Czech the times on the posts Fishstix, not long at all once I got into really searching.
Anywhere from $3.09-$3.50 per jar, depending on where I order from.
There's a place in VA and one in PA.
I'll decide later.

Maybe!
I like hot sauce on them, or salsa /c cheeeeeeese melted.
Yum!

By "Hot Sauce", I presume you mean tobasco? I like that, too. Salsa's good.
While my eggs are just firming up, I sprinkle black pepper liberally, Mrs. Dash, and some Tobasco. After they're done, I add salsa. Wash down with hot, black coffee, and for dessert.........Roldaids!
Now, folks, THAT is breakfast!

sorry, did not mean to strike a nerve -- they're just something I've seen lots of places around the country, and am surprised you never heard of them in your travels.
On the other hand, most of the places I've had them they were way, way too greasy/salty and it would have taken a pretty spectacular sauce to convince me to go back for thirds...

Nope,never had them.
I searched today and looked at photos and they look a lot like some things I've had before.
Now slap some mushrooms, peppers, onions-CHEESE and THAT DAMNED sauce on them, then we'll talk.

Ingredients:
Dough
Pepperoni
(Bake)
Add aforementioned WTF? sauce.
You're good to go.
What a crazy thread I started:rolf2::bonk:
Copper boy owes Mama big time for this one.
I may allow him to touch the hem of my garment, come Christmas:tongue:

banana peppers or pepperocinis would be good with sauteed shrooms & red onion in one of those. add some coarse shredded mozz, asiago, romano, & parmesan and it almost sounds like a stromboli.

you could probably fake them using canned croissant dough rolled out thin, then roll everything back up in it.

dang! now I'm getting hungry again!

Would you like some sauce with that, Sir?:hide:

We take pepperoni rolls on the boat sometimes. Abby makes them from frozen bread dough. Boy are they good. She just thaws a loaf or two of the bread dough and puts a few pieces of pepperoni in as she makes them into rolls. ummm good.
We've never used a sauce with them though. That sauce does look good.
