Will New York actually elect a Communist "Democratic Socialist" as its Mayor?

The Democratic Socialists are actually communities. They are at war with the traditional Democratic Party, and, at least in urban areas are winning by promising rent freezes, city owned grocery stores, defunding the police among other communist policies. Is it possible that we could elect an actual communist to be mayor of NYC? Another is running for mayor of Minneapolis. Another is running for mayor of Seattle. One has already been elected mayor of Los Angeles and another is in power in Chicago as mayor, but the results and popularity of the the Chicago mayor are approaching 'single digit' approval ratings.

Personally I don't think most traditional Democratic Party members understand what is happening inside their party as the party is being taken over by the 'Democratic Socialists' which are actual communists.

A super PAC supporting former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the New York mayoral election is running a late ad that depicts Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani in front of video of the Twin Towers crashing down on 9/11.
The ad quotes liberal streamer Hasan Piker, with whom Mamdani appeared earlier this year, saying “America deserved 9/11” during a 2019 livestream. Alongside Piker’s stream, the ad includes video of one of the World Trade Center towers bursting into flames during the 2001 terror attack, with Mamdani superimposed on top of the video for a moment.
“That’s Zohran’s buddy, Hasan Piker, saying we deserve 9/11. It’s a disgrace to every life lost,” the narrator says in the ad.
“Zohran went on Piker’s show, and now Piker was just spotted at Zohran’s event. Mamdani is wrong for New York.”
So if you have not seen this video, here is a link with a very short video that explains the Democratic Socialists and how they are actually at war with the Democratic Party. And they are winning. I think the leadership of the traditional Democratic Party realizes they are at war. I don't think most Democrats, who have been working for a living and just voting the party line have any clue what is actually happening behind the scenes.

Hostile Takeover: The DSA’s Plan to Capture American Politics

ABOUT THE HOSTILE TAKEOVER

Across the political spectrum, Americans value democracy, fairness and freedom of thought. Yet a movement has emerged that directly challenges those ideals — the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
As its leaders repeatedly state, the DSA are NOT Democrats. They are an external force that has infiltrated the Democratic Party to reshape it in their own image. Like the cuckoo that lays its eggs in another bird’s nest and then throws out the original bird’s eggs, the DSA is using the party’s structure and reputation while working to replace it with its own extremist agenda.
If successful, this project would transform one of America's great political parties into an unrecognizable entity hostile to the institutions that define our country.

The question is are they stew-pid enough to elect this communist? Afraid the answer is Yes.

i hope they do elect... "it."

it will be fascinating to watch the city devolve.
It will be but as usual they will blame the previous administration and everything except for the real cause. :bonk:

People are planning to flee the city if he is elected.

But he will probably be elected.

WTF?

1 Million New Yorkers Say They Will Flee New York City If Mamdani Wins Today's Mayoral Race

BY TYLER DURDEN

A new JL Partners poll for the Daily Mail suggests New York City could face a historic population loss if democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani becomes mayor. Nine percent of residents would “definitely” leave—about 765,000 people—while another 25 percent would “consider” going, raising fears of an economic crisis.
Opponents of Mamdani describe a future city as a
“disaster,” “hell,” “chaos,” “destroyed,” and “s***hole.”
His supporters instead predict it would be
“affordable,” “improved,” “hopeful,” and “changed.”
The poll found seven percent of those earning over $250,000 would move away. Since the wealthiest one percent fund roughly half of NYC’s income tax revenue, even a fraction leaving could “crater” the city’s finances.
Pollster James Johnson said the “prospect of Mamdani is so scary to some that they are considering throwing in the Big Apple for new digs.” He noted older New Yorkers, Staten Islanders, and white residents are the most likely to leave.
The Daily Mail writes that some real estate buyers are already backing out. Realtor Jay Batra said, “They don't want to hear about Mamdani and the rent freeze he is proposing.”
Cities like Boca Raton are preparing to attract fleeing residents and businesses. Mayor Scott Singer warned New York is “about to repeat some of the lessons from history that many voters have forgotten or never knew.”
The survey shows Mamdani leading the November 4 race with 45 percent among decided voters. By contrast, only 59 percent of New Yorkers say they would definitely stay if he wins.
Expectations for the city under Mamdani skew negative: forty-seven percent foresee more crime and violence, forty-three percent expect fewer businesses, thirty-nine percent think the terrorism risk will worsen, and forty-five percent predict antisemitism will increase. Housing affordability is his one strong point, with thirty-nine percent believing it will improve.
Mamdani proposes free childcare, rent freezes, public grocery stores, fare-free buses, and higher taxes on top earners and corporations. Critics argue this will prompt a business exodus similar to California’s losses. Former governor Andrew Cuomo says the agenda would “exacerbate the problem… flight from New York City by high-income earners.”
As Singer put it: “People are already preparing to leave before a Mamdani election. There’s less and less reason to stay there.”

Reactions: Doc
talk is cheap. nobody will go anywhere.

I tend to disagree.

Just like California and Chicago, people are already fleeing.

For those who were already "on edge" a Mandami administration will tip them over and send them to Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida or Texas.

As I am "adjacent" to Chicago I see all the construction of homes and expansion of neighborhoods as people move out of Chicago and the suburbs and cross the state line to my state. As our Melen lives in the city, we are up there frequently and I've seen broad daylight fights and skirmishes in the supermarket parking lot, at busy intersections in 'safe' areas . . . DESPITE the "fact" that the mainstream media errantly proclaims that crime is going down.

People are already leaving.

For those who have jobs that allow it, or are of an age where a location change is feasible, just one more reason to move is enough to move.

The problem is not people like Mamdani. He is just a product of the misguided. We wouldn't even know his name if not for enough people in NYC who think socialism is good. They need to live it for a while. They apparently won't take the word of those who have lived and suffered under it, such as those from Cuba or Venezuela. And they won't crack a history book to learn about the horrors of it, or they don't believe it. So, they need to live it.

I hope Mamdani wins, all the money leaves, the city goes down the pipe, and those misguided people learn a damn lesson. It seems to be the only way they'll wise up.

I was born here. But I was in Czechoslovakia in the mid-1970s, during some of the cold war era, saw the breadlines and desperation first hand. Late summer, 1974, I returned, knelt down and kissed the tarmac at the airport. I don't wish that life on anyone but they don't realize how good things are when you can go to the grocery store for a can of tomatoes and find 100 different brands/styles/etc of whole, stewed, diced, sauced, etc tomatoes. Literally under Soviet rule you could wait weeks to buy a can of tomatoes and they would only have 1 style so you bought it and made do.

Big city folks.
the ones Born there. Raised there dont move about. The city is all they know. Saying they will leave is a tough action. i dont feel moving is possible. Many dont have cars. I feel the balance of these people cant function outside of the urban area. The ones that do move about. They Have a car. A second home ect these folks are not dependant on the urban setting. ( this is the minority) THE MAJORITY is entitled dependent trash. They need infrastructure and the suporting economy that comes with the large economic engines.
From another post.....
"I hope Mamdani wins, all the money leaves, the city goes down the pipe, and those misguided people learn a damn lesson. It seems to be the only way they'll wise up."

They wont. They dont have too.

I live in a part of the world were chicago and Minneapolis go to vacation. They melt down when:
Card readers dont take their card. When they cant order a pizza.
When there isnt 24hr fuel
No coffee shop
No service industry to cut their grass or move snow.or pull their dock. If you want any of that done you need to know somebody or do it yourself.

My point. If they do leave the city they need to go to another large urban area. They will find their people their. Blue city. Red country.

Wife is from Poland. We brought her mom over in the mid 80s. Walked her down to the local Jewel did store on Archer. Told her she could have whatever she wanted. She thought we were joking, but when she realized that yes, you could fill up 10 baskets of you wanted, she started crying right there.

Similar experience, brought over a Polish woman in the very early 1990's (mom's family = Polish, dad = Slovak so I am a SloPole) and when we pulled up to an ATM before walking into the store and it started to spit $20 bills out of the machine you'd have sworn she witnessed an actual miracle. Took her into the grocery store and she didn't comprehend there was not a "quota" on what we were "allowed" to buy.

Poland was technically a free nation in 1989, so while she was technically from a 'free' nation at the time, it had only just broken away from the Soviet Union a year or two prior to coming here.

People simply do not understand how bad socialism is.

There may be a hundred different types of canned tomatoes, but, the only canned tomatoes that are worth buying are San Marzano D.O.P. certified. Pomodoro Sauce made with anything else is not worth eating. :ROFLMAO:

Seriously, it is going to be interesting to see now MyDummy implements these policies he campaigned on. Interesting how so called Democrats complain about higher taxes yet continue to vote for the same type of people that implemented these taxation policies to begin with. NJ is a great example of that as well.
