Which America Would You Prefer?

Heck, you're still allowed to be rich.

Not for long. :brows:

I was a member of the Boy Scouts and proud to say I was a member of the first Boy Scout Troop in America. Troop #1 Barre, Vermont. Formed in 1908 by William Foster Milne. Those were some of the best days of my life. I learned values and a sense of responsibility that I have carried with me the rest of my life.

As for the second picture, I have nothing to say. Not worth my time.

Well funny how if this was a tea party group you wouldn't see this comparison. Perhaps we should revisit some of the pictures of the signs they carried when starting out usually from the fringe of it. Oh well I give up I guess we simply see things different about what America is and can be. Most of you want to go back and I want to move on into the future.

Sorry Joec but if this was a TEA party group you simply could not make that comparison. No matter how hard you or the media, tried.

Somehow I cannot get a grip on the idea that if you question convention, no matter you methods or lack of respect for others, that is is some how noble.
Simply because you have a Constitutional right to do it.

Sorry then FrancSevin, I tried to make myself clear. In what I saw in regards to the question asked based on just the pictures not the crap the pictures represent. The first one was a group of kids following what was expected of them the other questioning it. Nothing more than that, which to me is what a citizen of this countries obligation is to do question everything for yourself. It has nothing to do with the boy scouts or gay protest it is what I was talking about.

Like I said before Joe the two pics were used to do exactly what they are doing here using the " shock & awe" crap that those that choose to sit on their asses and just bitch about crap over the internet want to see.

Further more I have researched all friggen day and cant find any other place the second pic was posted so I am considering it pure bullshit , if it was anything that went against Ya'lls beleifs you would be claiming its photoshopped like every other damn thing that you dont like. You dont have to agree with what a lot of the protestors are doing, and I'll be the first one to say theres a bunch of freeloaders jumping on the bandwagon much like any other protest.

But the point is they are bringing more folks out like all of the rest of us because we are all pissed about the way things have been handled , not only in this administration but many others before . Its time to speak up and be heard Period as a common cause, but much like the Tea party theres to damn many " jackwagons " that are trying to benefit off of it and turn it into something that benefits their own agendas. You damn sure wont see any media coverage or utube videos about that though.

Here is a few examples of real signs that never seem to get any coverage from people that have actually been to these protests . They may not all be the best of what folks here agree with but they are a lot different then the major media reports.

I couldn't agree more with you cowboy. If you don't agree with ever the protest then you shouldn't exist. The media will always go to the nuts in any movement as it makes better reading as normal sane people are boring and nuts are fun. Hence I took it a bit different than what the picture was trying to show, boy scouts against gays which is what it was probably meant to show. Besides those protesters you showed could of also been part of the tea party also.

I have nothing against homosexuality, Cowboy.
BUT, when you use it to push your agenda, or to slap it in our faces- publicly for your own gain...
There is something very wrong with that.
Every fruit, nut and lost jumpers on 'that' bandwagon are filling the street with insanity that doesn't do a god damned thing for moving forward in this country.
Wait until the next big catastrophic world event occurs. This is going to fizzle out like yesterday's newspaper on a wet porch.

‘Occupy Wall Street’ Protesters Encourage People To ‘Kill Your Parents’

Today (October 5th, 2011), I took a trip to see the “Occupy Wall Street” protests and ran into this sign on the steps of the Federal Courthouse in downtown Manhattan.

I don't see either the pledge of allegiance going on in the first picture. No hands over their heart and I see nothing about anal sex in the second. It is all perception folks.

Joe,

If you can't see the perception that the photos show, then sadly you are missing the point and nobody is going to be able to describe it to you either...

I would chose the first over the second in a heartbeat of being a positive message, the second has no redeeming qualities what so ever and is very degrading....

Ahhh... there you go...

If this was a Tea Party demonstration, you would see families holding their children.

The fowl language you would hear would be "Thank you", "Excuse me" and "Your Welcome"...

Trash is picked up by the members before they leave and they don't step on the American Flag and they put their hands over their heart during the National Anthum...

What endearing actions are the Protesters doing....

You brought up a good point, as well as the signs that can be found at the Tea Party as well (and may have), and these folks need to be where the laws are made and that is in front of the White House. What they are doing on Wall Street isn't constructive, and when the Clowns in DC endorse them.... something stinks to high heaven!

The Crowd on Wall Street isn't for less Government, they want to overthrow it....

Really Foggy, what about spitting on democratic members of the house or signs of Obama as Hitler. Please don't insult my intelligence as regardless of any movement there are the nuts. Now I don't agree with the tea party but you seemed to have missed my whole point so perhaps you should go back and read all of my posts again. If it offends you about the tea party then add any protest group of your choice through out our history. Perhaps the civil right movement would be a place to start. And yes it was done by the left during the Bush administration over Iraq too. Nuts have no political side they are simply nuts.

Where might you have seen Tea Party Members spitting on anyone?

Obama is in fact doing exactly what Hitler did in the 1930's, he is pitting the poor against the rich...which is class warfare, as Hitler did with the Jews against the Germans and the Wall Street Protests are a direct result of his rants (Obama's). The results may not be the same when the game is finished, but that is a factual comparison that is being done now. The Jews were painted as the rich elite, so it didn't matter if they were rich or poor, they were the enemy to stir up Hate, and that is what Obama has done with his version, he doesn't have much else to go on....

The Tea Party as an org. doesn't exist for most Americans that believe what they do, less Government and follow the Constitution. The fringe is just that, on both sides...

How about decency that should always win out over what's become of our country?
When I first saw this today Joe, that was my only reason for starting the thread.

PG I have no idea why this was posted, so I took it at face value comparing the 50's to today. I am sorry if you can't seem to understand my point of view and I am a big believer in treating people decent regardless of who or what they believe.

I have a simple question for you. What did you feel about the country during the Civil Rights movement (assuming you are old enough to really remember it which I am), the Viet Nam era, Women's rights? All of these things eventually lead to improvements in our society, at least I think so but perhaps you don't. These changes put pressure on our government to do what was right regardless so it got done. This is the idea behind all movement be it the Bonus Soldiers of WWI which brought about the GI bill, to the Tea Party it doesn't matter they changed this country good or bad. These things have had an effect on America period.

So am I, but I don't have to accept the way they go about getting a point across.

I am 51 years old.The civil rights movement was more or less a history lesson taught to me over the television, my family and schooling as I grew up.It's true the movement toward civil, women's rights and all the things that were going on brought about a lot of change in this country, but what is going on right NOW is something that is not remotely comparable to what occurred back then.
Those things were advocated by a lot of the population.
This isn't, is it?

As far as I can make out the majority of this country not only agree with gay rights but also the group on Wall Street as well as Obama's Job Plan and taxing the rich by removing deductions from them. They also believe that most of the bankers should be brought to trail as well. Now do I believe it, it really doesn't matter as I'm rarely in the majority.

As for me I remember segregation vividly, my grandfather was chief of police in Miami at the time. I remember water fountains marked for colored only as well as no colored on bathrooms in gas stations. I also remember women fighting for their right to equal pay a fight that is still going on by the way. I have no problem with gay rights. I don't agree with all the tactics used by all of the above mentioned groups but I agree with what they are fighting for.

Thanks for your thoughts Joe.
I appreciate what you've shared in this thread.
We learn a whole lot from others, and that's always a good thing.

No problem girl and hope you understand my intension. I sometimes think I'm speaking a foreign language around here as they don't seem to understand what I write. At first I thought it might be my writing style but not sure any more.

At any rate I agree that we do learn from others around here which is a good thing. Well you have a good night as I'm going to get some sleep something I've really not wanted to do a lot of lately. :flowers:

Good post PG and I appreciate the link to the pic cuz I honestly had no luck finding anywhere it was posted OR if in fact it was authentic OR taken at the OWS protests, so thankyou for that.

That being said I totaly agree with most everything else you wrote in this post other then it will go away anytime soon , hopefully these types as depicted in the picture WILL go away as I know they are doing nothing to help the overall cause and the OWS protestors are against this kind of message being sent as well. BUT even the two in this pic are just expressing free speach so I doubt the majority of protestors will do anything to run these types off but thats just my opinion.

It just seems to me these kind of things are a very minority from what I have seen myself from those who I know that are going to rallys all over the US that are from the older age groups like myself . I am not saying they are the majority of protestors but far more then the 10% that some seem to think and more are joining everyday. Most I see are mostly retired or ex military and older folks that are forced into early retirement because there are no jobs. These folks have lost far more to the crimes of our government and wallstreet then most of the snot nosed kids that are looking for a continued free ride like the media likes to show so much.

I recon I am just one of the few that would like to see SOME good come out of what is going on , even if its just to open voters eyes to get them to do their protesting at the voter booth.

I really have no dog in this fight as I chose to tell the banks to fuckoff over ten years ago, and basiclly have pulled myself from society and my wife is now doing the same thing . We are not concerned about our future , but would like to see a better future for our grandaughter, which looks very bleak at this time.

Here is a few more posters that I think say how the majority of the people feel. FYI all of the posters I have posted are from the OWS movement and not the tea party protests. Sorry for once again hijacking your thread PG. :flowers:

One sign says move your money to a credit union. Now that is just plain old fashioned good business in most instantces.

The banks want to tack of fees, debit charges and crappy rates on IRA's. Good for them. I take my business elsewhere. That is using the free enterprise system of which I love and cherish.

The second picture...for the same reasons JoeC related. I may not agree with some of you but i still respect your right to voice your opinion.

Land of the free thanks to those that fight to keep it that way!
