What are you doing today, II

I will be working on the very last 18 feet of HANDYSTONE wall at our home property. Burning bushes, I planted years ago, need a stone border. I have to dig a shallow trench, lay paver base gravel and set the stones. One layer mostly so it is just a soldier stacking
placement in a straight line. Hopefully, I have just enough to do the job.
Then, just regrade the lawn and plant grass seed.
So, I went outside about 3:00 and got all the tools out and ready. Put the shovel to the dirt and the rain started. Lots of it.
So, this project moves to Wednesday.
Today is laundry and vacuuming the main rooms.

Today is the fight with Unemployment they send a letter on 6-26 I get on the 3rd of july and they need a reply by the 7th or I get denied been on the chat bot there for 45 minutes finally got an appointment on july 22 for in person appointment and appeal of their denial I got on the 8th.

Not a lot.

Took the lovely Mrs_Bob to the eye doctor for her follow exam.

Apparently the surgery went very very well and her eyesight is restored to 'better than new' condition. She remains on light duty for 1 week (no lifting heavy objects).

Got home afterwards and worked on the garden. Weeding and watering.

Cooking up an Indian curry with beef. I know, sacred cow and Indian food don't go together. But that is dinner tonight.

Melen is interviewing for a new job up in Chicago. The company she works/worked for was just purchased. She will be gainfully unemployed soon. She posted an update on Linkedin and got a message from the head lawyer at a multinational grocery group. Had an interview yesterday. Today she had 3 more with the same company. Head of HR and 2 people in their legal department. Tomorrow she has another interview with a (presumably) high level member of the legal department. The company's US headquarters are based in greater Chicagoland so that also makes things easier as she would not be relocating. But while that is progressing, she also is working with a professional headhunter and has a meeting with the career placement office at her former law school.

Dasha spent a long weekend in NYC. She is safely back home in S.F.

Driving across the canadian prairies today and tomorrow before heading to northern alberta towards upper British Columbia by the weekend. We won't be actually hauling the fifth wheel through the rockies but I plan a few hr drive without it at our destination to get to the northern BC rockies. We'll actually be on the beginning portion of the Alaska hwy for an hour or so. But I plan on driving further without the fifth wheel in tow to see the mountains. We officially passed the center of Canada today.

Long ago the lovely Mrs_Bob and I had a small trailer. Didn't mind pulling it around but I did hate the campground bathrooms. On the other hand, your trailer is probably 3 times larger than the one I dragged around so I'm guessing you have 2 private bathrooms in there! I hope the trip is going well.

In other news, Melen had a meeting with General Counsel (top lawyer) this morning. Apparently that interview went well. She was told she will hear from someone in H.R. soon. So I guess that might mean a job offer is coming? She also has a job interview with another company this morning, so clearly she is being proactive and apparently her qualifications are getting her considered. Hopefully she lands another job before the first "unemployment benefit" check arrives.

Went to home depot and bought a bundle of 12’ ship lap boards to finish the ceiling at the work cabin, I calculated 138 boards needed, a bundle has 128, they only had 9 loose boards. I’m sure I will need a couple more, always do.

Getting ready to host a target shoot for the Army of the Southwest civil war reenactors. I built an 800 yrd rifle range last year, and a local member of the group lives here locally and asked if I would let them use the range. Well, after a discussion with other members I agreed to let them. The fact they have their own liability insurance helps.

The range is in an LLC and surveyed off the land we own around it. We will also require them to sign a liability waver also. Looking for an insurance company for a liability in the ranges name as well currently.
We are finishing building an elevated shooting platform that is to be weather tight when we get it finished up.

I have been told to expect 2 cannons 1 mortar and a Gattling gun. And of course, a number of rifle shooters and cap and ball revolver shooters.

I asked them to provide their own range safety officer, and they will do that. Our Masonic lodge will provide shade and cold drinks at the event, and a porta potty is on site as well.

Hope it all goes well, and the weather cooperates.

Hot a sticky today. I did get some work done on the new garden wall but hardly noticeable. Spent most of the time digging up the old bricks so I could clean and re-arrange them.

Melen looks like she will be getting a job offer from the grocery company based on what I heard from her? I am hopeful.

The second interview she had today was with a major law firm and she was told there will be a follow up interview based on the initial interview.

So with any luck she will have a job offer and a back up plan?

At the fencing club we started a brand new Saber class. It was bigger than we expected and a lot of fun too. I generally worked with the teens and adults. Sarcasm & 'you'll break your hip' jokes are more appreciated by 40+ year olds than by 10 year olds.

That is awesome!

800 yards seems like a long range for Civil War reenacters but maybe the Cannon and the Gattling Gun need that distance? Mortoar.

Please start a new thread about this in the FIREARMS area and post a LOT of photos!

Cannon targets are half sheet of dry wall. 100 and 200 yards the ranges they shoot. 800 is way more than you need.
I don't usually share this sort of thing on the net. I try and keep my digital footprint as small as possible.
No social media, and my phone is not used for anything on the net. I really want a de googled phone next.
Going to the courthouse soon to get my digital ID driver's license changed back to a state driver's license.
I will post a You Tube as to why anyone would want to do that. Travel on airplanes it is not required contrary to what we
are being told.

I wont get the "real id" either if I cant drive I don't need to go.
If I had to go one way I'd take rail.

AND... I'm always here even though I may not log on the forum.
It's been a bit rough trying to keep up with Facebook, life.. nevermind feeling like some may wonder omg, she hasn't been here for a week.

I'm waiting for brake line kit was supposed to be wed. then today maybe tomorrow at least it might be cooler.
I got car jacked up started removing parts to get to the line that needs to be replaced.
I want to get it out to mimic it with new home made line.
got a pressure bleeder that looks like a pump sprayer promptly drilled a hole in bottle and put a valve stem in so i don't have to pump it just hook compressor up and pressurize it.

Melen officially got a corporate position as legal counsel for Aldi. They have a US headquarters for their legal staff located in the Chicago suburbs. She will work in the office 2 days per month. The remainder of the month she works remote.

Dasha will be flying to Costa Rica tomorrow for a short vacation.

Kobe will be staying with us until mid-day on Tuesday. He will be starting "jump start" school, which is a pre-kindergarten program run by the school system. I don't know much about it but I suspect he is a bit behind in reading. He know the letters and sounds but he is not yet reading. We only get him on the weekends and sometimes long weekends and try to work with him on reading but I don't think Grandma & PaPa do that during the week. He is very smart, but obstinate and I think he is fighting learning.

I've been back at the doctor and for tests. Blood tests (based on my googling) seem to indicate I am low on iron. I am also, even when eating low carb, running around with an average blood sugar of about 110 +/- a couple points. Today I'm 106. So that is pre-diabetic. I need to exercise more. I don't want more meds and I don't want Type 2 diabetes. Also I need to learn to live with pain or learn to better use pain pills before I am totally behind the curve on pain.

The lovely Mrs_Bob had a couple follow up exams. She had a cataract surgery last week, surgeon says she is healing properly, all good. She then went to the retina specialist, he performed surgery on her last year. Also got the 'good to go' reply from him. Other than light duty for the next 10 days, her eye sees better than before the eye injury that caused the grief that led to 2 surgeries.

Going out with Kobe wearing crocs after the rain . . . while carrying a chain saw . . . cutting branches along a steep clay path . . . not one of my best life choices.

I'm fine.

But damn I hurt. Kobe thought I was dead. Neighbors heard me. The lovely Mrs_Bob was napping, she heard nothing. I'll be in a wrist brace drinking bourbon for a week, and yet again, my hip did not break when I fell. One day, I'm sure, I will pay more dearly for acting like I am still 30, or 40, or 50, or 60.

Crocs are dangerous and should be banned. Or at least come with a warning label telling me not to be stoopid :4_11_9:

Gettin' ready to do an engine swap. My 442 has a Chevy straight-6 in it, a little 250. Three years ago, I found a 292 on Craigslist and bought it as a spare. Now, the 250 needs a new clutch and pressure plate....... if I'm gonna pull the engine to change the clutch, YEP...... I'm gonna put that 292 in it.

Got the oil pan painted, today. Went with Allis Chalmers Orange from Tractor Supply. I'll be painting the pontoons the same color as I get them patched. (Engine looks great as far as I can tell..... I am told it had 60,000 miles on it, when the truck it was pulled from was totaled).
