What are you doing today, II

So, most of northeast Ontario is closed due to flooding on the roads and highways being washed out. A lot of the country roads around where I live are flooded. We're ok though as we have several different escape routes from our place back to the city.

I have been up since 3am with burning back pain again. At least my son is off today so I don't have to drive him. But I do have to go in for a physio appointment. Hopefully he can tweak my back and loosen the muscles to stop the burning.

I'll be pulling a trailer. 4 hours one way. We'll see how I feel when i get there.
The mower is on township road 56. Farmland it seems for mild.
Funny thing, way back then, wife worked at a Txxtron factories assembling commercial ZT machines and the big Jacobsen multi reel mower machines. She may have assembled this one. The guy took care of it impeccably. Still looks new 500 his on it.

I was doing pretty good until I got TBed (whatever that is) for speaking facts and my life experience. If this is another of those places, I guess I'll find another soon

Actually slept through the night. Great 👍 Felt a pop in my lower back getting out of bed. Not so great 😕. About the only thing I actually had to do today was bringing my daughter to a dentist appointment this morning thankfully. I also hope to move some trailers around the yard. See how it goes. The lawn is still soaked as the frost hasn't let go yet. Lots of standing water in the lowest part of the yard down by my shop.

I have plans to feed the dogs, go to the post office, and maybe finish planting some day lilies. This afternoon I have fencing and fencing again this evening.

Yesterday after planting (too much) I was sore as hell. Tramadol and Advil didn't work. Whiskey might have helped a bit. But mostly I was just in lots of arthritis pain. Woke up this morning feeling 95% human!

Finally sat down. I got everything moved I wanted to down by the shop. Even fired up the gas golf cart and drove around the yard. I did some more grading with the plow truck. I also unwrapped the hot tub gazebo. I keep it tarped up in the winter so we can still use it without having to Shovel snow off it. It actually does a good job of cutting the wind and retaining heat. I've been out in a blizzard before. I may head out in a bit and light a fire in the pit to start burning off brush. We'll see.

Finally sat down.. . .

Me too.

Went to the post office to mail Dasha her sunglasses that she forgot and left at home when she came for Easter. $19.80 to ship a little box to San Francisco, with an expected delivery date at the end of May. The box was 5" by 6" by 10". I did throw in 2 cans of SPAM, some cough drops, candy and other surprises just to fill the box.

Stopped at the grocery and picked up fruit, cereal, etc. Basically all of Kobe's favorite things.

Planted the last clumps of day lilies, which of course required clearing weeds first. Then filled the lovely Mrs_Bob's bike tires with air. Hosed out the wagon and storage tub that were filled with the day lilies, and were consequently filthy. Those are drying in the back yard. Pulled some stuff that looked like it was probably poison ivy, but not sure if it was, seems a bit too early in the season for the poison ivy to be sprouting.

Sitting with a cup of coffee and 2 sleeping dogs.

Brother-in-law and his son came in from IOWA. A career military man, Including Afghanistan and running the IOWA National guard. Hard to believe the little squirt once worked for me. Amazing young man now in his fifties and sharp buff and confidently impressive.

My BIL, always a good friend, and I chewed on 57 years of memories.

Done with the tractor mowing, still got a few days with the weed eater, then all summer trimming the tree branches up so next year I can get a lot closer to the tree trunks with the tractor and minimize the weed eating.

More of "Dads taxi service" today. I already drove my second oldest son in to work for 6am. I managed to shave a minute off the return trip. At that time of the morning I can make good time. 😉

Next up is driving my youngest son to work in the next smaller community west of us for 8:30am (10 minute drive each way) followed by a trip back to the city to pick up the second oldest at noon. Then the youngest at 5pm. Then I get to do it all over again. I don't mind the morning drive though as I'm usually up with back pain by 4:30am most mornings. So I get up, make my morning coffee and go for a quick trip to the city with the heat on my back.

Sighting in this bad boy. I have cameras everywhere and I’ve got fox and coyote running around lately. Got a Canadian geese pair nesting on the pond, been watching them for weeks and patiently waiting on fluff balls. I’m gonna try to prevent a raid.

Never looked through the viewfinder, done all via phone app …. Unreal

Spent most of the afternoon out on the deck enjoying the sun and weather. Still a bit chilly but we're enjoying it before the mosquitoes hit in a few weeks. I made two trips to the city and two to kakabeka falls just down the road west of our little village. Still waiting for things to dry up down by my shop so I can move the fifth wheel camper as we're heading out in two weeks for the annual fishing trip to my hometown. I also have to haul the boat out of storage and charge the batteries. On a side note, I've also got mom's motorhome and boat stored in the yard that need to be dealt with. I had the motorhome running yesterday after charging the battery. The boat is shrink wrapped but I moved it from where it sat all winter. Then I still have to deal with opening up camp. That won't be bad though as I have a system of opening it all up. I just need a couple of hours uninterrupted.

the pups enjoyed the sunshine.

I repaired a rice cooker in the morning. The fuse had burnt, and the heating element was burnt into ash. Cost me 180 LKR for the parts, which is around 0.60 USD.
In the afternoon designed a handbill for my tour guide thing. I am surprised at how great it turned out. lol. Cannot post it here as it's an advertisement.
The thing is that I've never learned repairing electrical appliances or designing using Adobe Illustrator. I usually read online, watch videos, and then do it. Now I think I have mastered Illustrator to a good extent, after working with it for about 10 or 11 years. Rice cookers and such stuff, I take photos at every step during opening the thing, and then repair, and check my photos at every step to make sure it's the correct thing.

The good news
Two days of rain at the sawdust festival
We made some money but had lot's of food left over our local food pantry has certain days you can drop food off that we cant get there
One of the churches has lunch for people I'm going to stop or call tomorrow to see if they will accept the food.
The bad news my grand daughter ran her car she just got without oil and its locked up I have to get it towed home and come up with a plan while she still makes her payments she has to come up with more money to get it fixed.

So the missus and I were on the deck enjoying the sun yesterday afternoon. I decided to wander down to the jacobsen tractor and take the battery charger off. I checked and filled the oil and tried it. She fired up instantly. Great 👍. I hooked up to the lawn sweeper and headed out. An hour later I had most of 2ish acres of lawn swept and piled. It makes quick work of the yard work. Last fall I left the leaves instead of cleaning them up. Instead of spending days going around in circles with the lawn sweeper behind the tractor, I had it done in an hour then dropped the sweeper and fired up the mower deck to give a quick pass to clean up the lawn. What used to take me 3 weeks in the spring, I've pretty much done in a few days between using the plow truck to back blade windrow piles left from winter plowing. I used to go around with the sxs and a rake and shovel cleaning up from winter for about a week. I did it in 20 minutes with the plow truck this spring. Work smarter. Not harder. And use the tools at your disposal to get the job done.

Something you may want to try (that works incredible well for me). Using your mower, blow your leaves into a windrow. Then take your tractor and mow backwards over the windrow. When I do this with my ZTR, it shreds the leaves into nearly dust (as opposed to blowing them out the chute whole. I do this in the fall and have zero clean-up afterwards. Never left the mower seat. ;)

I've been busy, not avoiding the forum! Lol
I worked Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Good shift, glad that the powers that be have listened to me 😊
If I do say so myself, I'm not a good nurse, I am a GREAT, dedicated nurse.

This morning I wired over $2,000 to my Granddaughter Kasey, so she could catch up on her rent and car payment.
I told her it was going to be expensive living in State College, PA.
I was happy to help. That's what being a good Grandma is all about.

We lost one of my favourite residents Sunday afternoon. I knew Judy was going to go when I left Sunday morning.
Loved her to pieces, and went together with two of my nurse friends to make sure we got a nice floral arrangement to the funeral home for her viewing.

So far I managed to get the fuel pump in the sxs changed, battery installed in the quad, then I went to fire up the truck to head to the city for an oil change and click click...wtf? I did a quick battery test 12.6v...should go but nope. I threw a battery charger on it 10 minutes and it started. Ok. Truck needs a battery. I suspected the starter at first. So I grabbed the buick and loaded up the old battery and went to the city to get a new one and pick up my son from work. Now? Taking a break before heading back to the city for scouts. They're going biking I'm running support vehicle and getting the other leaders back to their vehicles at the start.

NOT MUCH

Took Kobe to school

Stopped at Aldi on the way home

Went to bed and surfed the internet, took a nap. Watching Star Wars ANDOR series, season 2.

Getting ready to go to the fencing club to pick up some Hostas from one of the fencing parents, she texted and said she'd bring in a couple for me. Always happy to get new plants for the flower beds.
