What are you doing today, II

Hazy here due to CA fires. Worse now since the guy down the road just started a fire.
I'm pressure washing our concrete driveway. Sq/ft is about 8' wide by 550' long. Man do I love a good gas pressure washer and a 20" floor scrubber. It'll still take me hours but physically, not too demanding (except for the heat/sun shining on me).

Started working on pulling the injection pump of my first first gen to re seal it, started yesterday and got it off today. Write up in the car/truck section

I went to Defiance today to secure the payment for my Granddaughters to start their upcoming school year at the private school.
Yay! They go back to school August 21.

Then I went to Arby's and got a Greek gyro and jalapeño bites.
Other stuff too, I'm just glad to be home.

I'm working tomorrow night on our new locked down dementia unit.
Pray for me.
😂

I'm doing some long overdue maintenance on the sxs. Oil change. New drive belt. New winch. Grease. I had to take a break from it and get cleaned up quickly for a dentist appointment in the city. Then back home to put everything back together before a possible thunderstorm this afternoon.

Uh, looks like you made it worse, not better :hide:

Trimming the Bradford Peat tree today. I will eventually be taking it down altogether. A bit at a time Two reasons.

1) These trees are beautiful for one or two weeks each spring when the bloom like a big Q-tip. Hence their popularity. But they are invasive. Not supposed to be but one got out and now they cover the countryside. Worse, they are weak and break easily in heavy winds. This one, a gift from my F-I-L some 45 years ago, has come close to totaling my truck several times with large branches tearing out.

Missed ha-ha-ha.

2) I love the smell of the wood when it burns. In fact I use some of it when I smoke Pork or Beef.

3) I have a red leaf Apple tree, a spontaneous growth in a driveway crack, that is now 20 feet high and in a large pot. I want to plant it where the Bradford now stands. Beautiful in spring with pink blossoms.

So, I will spend the next months trimming it back a little at a time. Just felling all it at once would be a mess.
Besides, I am getting old and lazy.:whistling:

When I was 7 years old, we lived in an 8-bedroom farmhouse in Clarkston, Michigan... and we had a large pear tree in our front yard. We got abundant fruit off that tree. We didn't live there very long, the house had two oil furnaces and it cost $500.00 a month to heat the place in the wintertime. (That was a fortune in 1977). But we made a nice profit when we sold the place. It was a dump when we moved in, but Dad fixed it up real nice.

Those pears were awesome.

Braddford pears are smaller than a grape and taste terrible.
That said I remember grandma's pear tree groves.
Crumpy loves pears. I keep forgetting that.
...............on the list!

Did some chores.

Picked some hot peppers from the garden. Watered the garden. I'm going to be getting a lot of tomatoes all at the same time.

One is a chore I do about every 3 to 5 years. We have a chain link fence that separates our dog yard from mother nature. Every few years I cut a walking narrow walking path away from the fence. I don't want the vines, rose brambles, trees, etc destroying the fence. I had 2 trees down on the top of the fence, one dead and one still alive. I think I had done this about 2 years ago so it really wasn't too bad, just mostly small stuff, but a lot of thorns.

Fence is 150' from the house to the workshop. It is walkable now, should be good for a few more years.

What I didn't throw over the fence to use in the fire pit, I pushed into the woods. I'll let the freshly cut vegetation wilt on the ground for a day or two and then go back through the path to trim up anything else than needs to be pruned back. In the photos you can still see quite a bit of stuff reaching over the fence. I cut quite a bit of that down after the photos were taken. Pretty much if I can reach it from the ground I cut it back.

Lmao. I decided to remove both seats and a few panels to access everything as I was searching for a water temperature sensor. Found it. The bike is back together for now but not usable yet as the sensor needs to be changed as the fan isn't kicking in. I still need to tackle the winch. I replaced it already last winter with one from Amazon. It lasted 2 months plowing snow. The winch still operates but the rope doesn't move and I can hear grinding. I picked up another one on sale.

Today's plan? I have to head to the city to drive my daughter to an event she's volunteering at then I'm hooking up the boat and headed to camp. I plan on doing some fishing as well as washing the camper top to bottom.

Slacker! :whistling:

Last evening I got the chills, then serious shivers and could not get warm. The AC in the house was OFF and I was freezing. Low grade fever. Muscle pain was intense. Then nausea. It was a fun night, not much sleep. This morning I had a headache, still had chills but not the uncontrollable shivers I had last night.

Feeling a bit better now but not 100% by any means. I had some breakfast, which is sitting in my stomach like a lead weight.

Overdid it yesterday on the physical activities so I'm moving pretty slow today.
A good day for doing little activities. Just got done going over the pressure washers and fixing all the leaking areas. New washers, O-rings, petroleum jelly...
Wife mentioned a dripping bathroom faucet so might as well go do that or maybe I'll sit outside and have a beer. ;)

I took about 1/3 of the Bradford down yesterday. I'll be processing it into firewood lengths and the branches will go thru the chipper.
The branches piled up about 3 feet by 10 feet. Between the two processes, about two hours of noisy vibration, and then a beer.
Afterwards, back to the pond resurrection project.
Warm today, possibly to 90F with lots of sun.
Maybe two beers.

🤣 🤣 🤣 I'm at camp. The boat is still hooked up. I got here at 1 and haven't stopped. My mission was to get up onto the camper roof and wash it. I managed to do that and also washed the sides. I then washed the truck as it was still dirty from the trip. Why drain the well at home washing the truck when I can do it at camp and not worry as we're on water from the lake. No running out.

I also discovered that our camper roof was professionally patched. Strange as we bought it new 10 years ago. We had it in for warranty once but I've never been on the roof since we bought it. Anyways, I hurriedly scrubbed the roof as we were under a thunderstorm warning. We dodged it. I got the entire thing washed and continued on to the truck.

Just doing my part to contribute to the smoke signals we've been sending down to the states. Nothing more. I had planned on launching the boat this morning but a rough sleepless night and a forecast thunderstorm for this afternoon made me decide against it. Oh well. Tomorrow's another day.

I trimmed a big branch off one of our Redbud trees. Dead and hanging over my neighbor's roof. He complained so I took it out today by myself. Some 20 feet long and about 8.0" girth. Only two hands and a ladder, I used a lot of ropes and pulleys to affect an outcome with no damage.

There are two more off the big Maple but way too high and dangerous. He wants me to pay someone to take them out.
Yeah, right.

About 55 years ago, I planted a small white pine tree near the edge of my property.. It is now about 35 feet high and beginning to lean. It is leaning over his driveway about 20 degrees off plumb. He has demanded I remove it. I have contracted someone else to do it as the exposure to his trees, and his house, is scary.

It is pine but, there will be plenty of snap-crackle-pop firewood for the patio fireplace.

My friend April finally graduated from nursing school yesterday!
Highest score in the class for med-surg HESI.
I'm proud of that girl.
Also, my good friend and neighbour Pat is moving out of her apartment which is right next to mine.
She's inherited the family farm (well the house).
Another family member will manage the out buildings and continue to farm the ten acres.

I've been just doing "me" stuff as usual.
Made a nice supper for us, found out I do not have to work tomorrow night (relief!).

I'm still recovering from the flu??? Pretty much did nothing other than turn the sprinkler on for the garden. Took a nap. Moved the sprinkler. Nothing else. I will say I'm feeling quite a bit improved after the nap. Still fatigued, coughing and thankful to have DayQuil and NyQuil

Bob, my son Jeff has something going on similar as well.
Feel better!

I think what is going around is the latest version of COVID, at least that’s what is going around here, I think I had it last week, tired, little brain fog and had a sore throat for a day, I’ve had it so many times it really doesn’t do much anymore.

Slept most of the day today. Over medicating. Feeling better now.
Wife had it much worse than me.
Very heavy sinus issue.
I had an hour nap this afternoon and woke up feeling much improved.

Far less achy, coughing less, no headache, still have a runny nose/sinus congestion and a very mild sore throat.

Other than turning on the sprinkler to water the garden, and then turning it off later, I did nothing more strenuous than sitting in an E-Z chair. Hoping that the improvement continues tomorrow.
