I might be a bit crazy. This came out of the blue but I'm going to look at an older one tomorrow.

Anyone here have experience with trikes? Any tidbits appreciated.

Toy is the right word. However, there are advantages for you old guys.

Trailer towing and of course you don't have to put your foot down and hold you beast up at stoplights.

I tried one once. Cannot lean to turns so that becomes a whole nuther animal

The same effect comes from a good two seat roadster and you don't need a trailer for the wife's luggage.

Yeah, I agree. And I would miss the leaning into curves. That is a good part of the fun of riding two wheels, at least to me.

I muyst tell you that when my wife said no to the bike, I went to the two seat roadster. It has the open air, the feel and sounds one enjoys on the bike, plus some comfort, luggage space and you don't need a helmet.

OTOH, just talking about it makes me miss the bike allover again.

No experience with any trikes but I would seriously look at these. They tilt. I saw a review of them a while back. Seem to have some great reviews.

I agree. A good compromise.

As I understand it, Mercedes developed the technology, but did not want to go to productions. So they then gave it away to anybody who wanted to use it.

Great concept.

The video in the link shows the guy who developed this version. He first made it with a lego set then built a team and started making them. Interesting.

Years ago when I rode if you had a drivers license that was all you needed to drive a car or ride a motorcycle. Not so today. You have to have a motorcycle endorsement. They test you on maneuverability as well as a written test.

They also have a temporary motorcycle permit that lets you ride once you passed this written test. I took the test today and passed. Barely. Some of the questions are stew-pid as well as the multiple choice answers. 40 questions. I had to get 30 right to pass. I got 31 right. LOL 75%. So now I can rent a bike or test drive a bike before selecting the one I want to buy. One step closer. :D

I love it when a plan comes together. :D
I used my excavator a lot last year. Cleared trees and stumps and made some of the trails through my back 40 more passable. I've used the excavator this year but only put 5 or so hours on it. It actually had some cob webs on it. On a whim I put it up for sale last week. It sold already. The buyer came and got it yesterday and less than 24 hours later I had a new toy.

Gail will enjoy this 'toy' a whole lot more than the excavator. Talking of a cross country trip next year, maybe do a tour of Rt 66 or something else interesting. Our kids already thought we were crazy, now they know for sure we are. LOL

Pics of the excavator leaving and the new to us Honda Goldwing with a California Sidecar Trike conversion.

Nice. Enjoy it. I've toyed with the idea of getting a trike or spyder but down the road.
I miss leaning in the turns but still find myself smiling as the wind hits me and I get that free feeling. It sure is different than two wheels but at my age and the way my hips and knees give me trouble at times I've come to realize a trike is really my only real alternative for riding. And wife will go with me, won't be afraid like she was on two wheel bikes and she truly enjoys the ride. A good fit all the way around.

You are so lucky there. My wife would never get on my bike. With or without me. It is the one thing where she did not feel compelled to compete with me.
