Tesla is way OVER STOCKED on Cyber Trucks... nobody wants them?

There are actually reports that Tesla dealerships will not accept them as "trade ins" on new vehicles.

Personally I kinda like its odd/brutalist look.

But I'm not willing tp pay for one. My fully optioned Honda Ridgeline is still the best truck I've owned. Not perfect, but very very good.

Tesla Reportedly Has $800 Million Worth of Cybertrucks That Nobody Wants

Luis PradaMay 8, 2025, 3:57pm
Tesla is overstocked with Cybertrucks, the PS1 graphics-looking mobile monument to Elon’s deep lack of creativity. With over 10,000 unsold units just sitting in dealerships, the stainless steel monstrosity has become more burden than an automotive revolution.
Despite Musk’s grand claims of selling 250,000 Cybertrucks annually, and a million reservations that may as well have been scribbled on crumpled cocktail napkins, Tesla barely eked out 6,400 Cybertruck sales in Q1 of 2025.

Why Aren’t Tesla Cybertrucks Selling Well?

The Cybertruck, a once massively hyped vehicle that would usher in a new era for EVs, is now being called a flop. Even with massively discounted financing, Tesla can’t move these things.
It probably doesn’t help when your car has been colloquially nicknamed the “Swasticar” after the company’s CEO/mascot, Elon Musk, started aligning himself with far-right movements from the US to Germany.
The truck has become a rolling burning effigy in global protests, thanks to Musk’s charming blend of associating himself with fascists while helping the Trump administration slash and burn the federal government for no reason other than, seemingly, to consolidate power.
Combine that with Tesla’s worst sales in Europe in years and a rollback of Cybertruck production, and it’s easy to see why Cybertrucks are just sitting around, waiting for someone to officially label them the DeLorean of the 21st century.
Desperate to offload inventory, Tesla dropped a “cheaper” $69,990 Rear Wheel Drive version in April that comes with fewer features and—one assumes a complimentary disclaimer, or maybe even a guarantee, that something on this thing will fall off within a few months.
It feels like white flags are being waved all over the place, especially as Tesla redirects workers from Cybertruck production back to the Model Y. While we can’t yet write Cybertruck’s obituary, the prognosis is grim.
What was once marketed as the future of transportation now feels like a midlife crisis on wheels. It has simultaneously become a Swasticar and a Gen-Xer divorcemobile, a pair of reputation-ruining associations that will take a miracle to recover from.

I personally think that the cybertruck is a fad with a bunch of new technology. The main problem is that they stick out like a sore thumb. Look at all the other manufacturers. All very similar styling and body lines. Then you have the cyber truck that comes totally out of left field and kinda looks like a cross between a space ship and a garbage dumpster. Now everyone that wanted the trendy fad because it's different can't get rid of then and the court of public opinion has moved on to the next latest and greatest fad.

They are Fugly. I've never seen one open to even show the bed. And with the angle of the topper you sure could not haul much in there. They can call it a truck but that doesn't mean it's really a truck. It's weird.

They are also crazy expensive, especially when compared to similar medium size trucks. I do realize that a FULL SIZE truck, optioned up, price compares in the same price range as the CyberTruck, but I don't think the Cyber Truck is a FULL SIZE truck, perhaps I'm wrong.

The bed is 6' by 4', which is slightly longer but slightly narrower than my Honda Ridgeline, or roughly the same size bed as my old Nissan Frontier. But I don't know if that 6' is full height of the bed, the photos on their website really don't make it look like it is a 6' long bed. I honestly wonder if some of the 6' length of the bed is essentially a 'cubby' that extends forward and under the rear seats? So you could maybe drop the tailgate and side a few sheets of plywood in there and maybe 12" of the sheets of plywood would be under the rear seat? It just looks like some of the cabin extends back over part of the bed?

It does excel in towing capacity, which is 11,000#, and that is double or triple most medium size trucks.

BASE sticker price is about $62,500 after the $7500 electric vehicle tax credit. They can be optioned up to over $100,000.

I take anything written by Vice as nothing more than left wing communist propaganda. For that reason I quit reading the article once I saw which communist wrote it.

If I had a need for anything more than a small compact truck that gets over 30 mpg and handles like a mid priced sports sedan I would consider one.

I still don't see the appeal of losing half of the functionality of the box with those goofy side skirts coming down. They certainly make it difficult to reach into the front of the box standing from the outside. And think about towing. I have a fifth wheel hitch mounted in my box in my f150. I can pin up to any fifth wheel trailer and pretty much back it up and jack knife it into a spot almost 90 degrees. I know that tesla introduced their own specific rv that can be towed by the cybertruck but I know that I can easily and safely ANY half ton rated fifth wheel camper out there and tow it. I don't need to spend another 100k for a 20ft long rv that looks like a turd on wheels.

Ditto

Sort of like the original Honda Ridgeline, but even more extreme.

I have done some digging on the dimensions of the bed. It is much bigger than I expected. I thought it was 4' wide, but it is nearly 5' wide, and now I can see that it is also over 6' deep. This is NOT the bed of a medium size pick up truck, which is what I thought it was. This is as big as a full size truck bed. Still inconvenient as all hell to reach into, but big.

The Cyber truck was designed for use on Mars. Unfortunately, not many Martians seem to need a truck. That and the long, very long, wait for delivery from earth tends to hamper sales.

Initially a very long wait.

But now 10,000 (or more, apparently?) sitting in storage, waiting for buyers. So available today. At a discount.

Coincidentally, I saw my first cybertruck today coming towards me on the 4 lane expressway. Quite the odd looking thing.

I see them from time to time.

Saw my first one, up close and personal, while in Palo Alto, CA. Got to do a full walk around. Odd looking. YES. Sort of cool, also YES. Sort of F-ugly, also YES. Sort of a 'brutalist' design, also YES.

Long enough range, PROBABLY for most people. Size, that I am not sure. The cargo area is surprising, and apparently in real life, bigger than it looks. I'm not a fan of the SINGLE CENTER SCREEN ... I really like the center console SPEEDO being in the middle of my line of sight, better yet projected up onto the windshield in a fighter pilot "heads up" type display, but Tesla mounts it in the center of the dashboard so you have to take your eyes off the road. Ditto Turn-By-Turn directions displayed in front of me rather than on a giant screen in the center console.

But I don't see it as a 'value' and rather see it as an extravagant purchase. My cars have mostly been somewhere between value & luxury. Not too much value. Not too much luxury. I want 'all the above' so I carve out the middle point.

I would like to have one just to piss of Democrats. These ass holes need to be rounded up and disposed of at this point.
Vice? have they EVER told the truth? A pack of total lies and bull shit.

Elon has destroyed the left and it shows. Gutted of money, powerless and adrift without leadership of meaning.
The stock is $343 this morning. Not bad at all. But the last I sold was $450+

Robo taxi will be coming this year, at 85% profit margin. I think this is going to be a good year for Elon and company.
