Lessons in Life II

A very moving post I ran into on FB.

========================================

My parents were together for 55 years. One morning, Mom went downstairs to make breakfast for Dad like she always did. But she never made it to the kitchen. She had a heart attack and collapsed.

Dad found her, scooped her up with all the strength he had left, and somehow got her into the truck. He drove like his life depended on it, ignoring red lights, not caring about anything except getting her to the hospital.
When they arrived… she was already gone.

At her funeral, Dad didn’t speak. His eyes looked empty, his face tired. He barely cried. That night, we all sat together in silence, trying to fill the air with memories of her. At one point, Dad asked my brother, who is a theologian, to tell him where Mom might be now. My brother started talking about heaven, about peace, about how she might be watching over us.

Dad listened for a while, then suddenly said, “Take me to the cemetery.”

“Dad… it’s almost midnight,” we tried to reason with him.

He looked at us, his voice breaking, “Don’t argue with the man who just lost his wife of 55 years.”

We didn’t say another word. We drove to the cemetery in silence, flashlight in hand, until we reached her grave. Dad knelt down, prayed quietly, then looked at us.

“Fifty-five years… you know, no one truly understands love until they’ve built a life with someone,” he said. “Your mother and I saw it all. We moved from place to place when life changed. We celebrated our children becoming parents. We cried together when we lost loved ones. We prayed in hospital waiting rooms. We held each other every single day. We forgave each other’s mistakes. We never gave up.”
He paused, wiped his face, and his voice softened.

“And tonight… I am happy. Do you know why? Because she left before me. She will never feel the pain of burying me. She will never know the loneliness of living without me. I will carry that pain instead. And I thank God for that.”

We were all in tears. Dad hugged us and whispered, “It’s okay… let’s go home. It’s been a good day.”

That night, I finally understood.

True love is not flowers or romance in the movies. It is standing side by side through every storm, holding each other in every loss, and never letting go—until life itself takes you apart.

YES,,,,Absolutely!

If one wants their relationship to be the most amazing thing in the world, then every day without fail, they must treat it like it is the most amazing thing in the world. It is both fiercely strong yet, incredibly fragile. Without daily attentive devotion, it's magic can be lost.
So care must be taken to nurture and defend it every day.

Dear young ladies, this one is for you…
A woman once walked into a shop wearing clothes that revealed more than they covered. The shop owner, an older and very wise man, noticed her. He invited her to sit down, looked straight into her eyes, and spoke words that she would carry for the rest of her life.
He said, “My dear, everything God made valuable in this world is hidden, covered, and protected.”
✨
Diamonds? Buried deep in the earth, waiting to be discovered.
✨
Pearls? Found at the bottom of the ocean, wrapped safely inside a beautiful shell.
✨
Gold? Hidden underground, protected by rock, and only those willing to work hard and dig deep can reach it.
Then he looked at her again and said softly, “Your body is far more precious than diamonds, pearls, or gold. You are sacred to God, and just like these treasures, you too are meant to be valued, cherished, and protected.”
He explained further:
💍
A reputable miner does not steal. He goes through the right path. He approaches the government, signs the contracts, invests his time and effort, and only then does he carefully and respectfully extract what is most precious.
But if those treasures are left exposed on the surface, anyone can come, take advantage, exploit them, and walk away without care, leaving them empty and devalued.
Ladies, never forget this… You are worth more than gold. More than diamonds. More than pearls. A true man will honor you, value you, and protect you.
💖
WOMEN, YOU ARE PRICELESS. Carry yourself with grace, for class will always shine brighter than trash.

Thanks for this post.
I will never stop looking at women but, perhaps now with a bit more "reverence."

At a high school reunion, a group of successful alumni—doctors, lawyers, business owners—decided to visit their favorite teacher. They talked about careers, families, and soon, the conversation turned to life’s pressures, stress, and the constant chase for more.
After listening quietly, their teacher smiled and said, “Hold on a minute. I’ll make us some coffee.”
He returned with a large pot and a tray full of cups—none of them matching. Some were fine porcelain, others plain ceramic, a few chipped glass mugs, and one even looked like it came from a diner.
As everyone reached for a cup, the professor watched silently. Once they all had coffee in hand, he said:
“Notice what just happened. Most of you instinctively reached for the nicest cups—leaving behind the simpler ones. It’s natural to want the best for ourselves, but that’s often where stress begins.”
He gestured to the cups.
“The cup doesn’t make the coffee taste any better. What you really wanted was the coffee—but you focused on the cup.”
He paused.
“Life is the coffee. Your job, your house, your income, your status—those are just cups. They help contain life, but they don’t define it. The more we focus on the cup, the more we miss out on the coffee.”
He smiled.
“Happy people don’t always have the best of everything. But they know how to make the best of what they have.”
