Kristi KT3 #113 Part III???

Slight delay this morning as I now how to fix a broken water pipe in the house from that -22 degree weather we had yesterday :sad:

Oil shaft seal was wrong one  Going to try a National 701101 tomorrow .
Wish me luck !!

Ok .... I am back in the shop . Track lacing is installed and I am now working on petty things on the motor .

Maybe .....just maybe :unsure:it may be ready to test tomorrow

well , the new ignition is installed . Along with the new throttle linkage and the rear brackets that hold the mufflers in place . All that is left is to install the new tracks and top off the hydraulic oil .

maybe it will be test run tomorrow if it does not snow too much tonight

On a very serious note :: I caught myself on fire "again" today:w00t2:.
Grinder sparks ignited my shirt and I went up in a blaze of glory . I finally quit trying to put out the flames and just yanked the shirt off . It was a perfectly good shirt too . A few grease stains and vent holes where needed , but now it has a big ass 6" hole burned out right at the belly area .
My whole life did cross my mind as I was trying to put myself out .When you get fat burning it is sometimes hard to put out ........
3 Dr. Rums seem to have deaden the pain of the perfectly good lost work shirt and my bright red spot on my belly

It happens every time ... I am on the edge of finishing the KT3 and taking it out for some test runs ....... and I am losing interest in it already .

This has happened to me a hundred times . Its the restoration or the challenge of it that I enjoy .... not the operating the machine or Auto when I am done . The last anything I really enjoyed after restoring was a CJ5 Jeep that was racially restored to the best of my ability .

So, I seriously think this is my last project. Time to enjoy and smell the roses .

Is it just me, or Al you have this restortion thing ass backwards. For me finishing the job is one thing, but to "smell the roses" is to actually take it out and run the bejeesus out of it, find out what it can and can't do... Reaping the benifits of your labors. The hard part is done. Now it is time to enjoy!!

Get out there and PLAY man!

Best regards, Kirk

I know what your sayin . But , Its the engineer in me that is coming out now . I know it will run . I know it will work as I intended . I now start looking for something else to tackle . At my age I really should stop this nonsense and just go with the flow and enjoy the machine . Its just the idea of taking something that is broken and making it new and better than it ever was . That is my enjoyment .
At least I can now move the KT3 out and bring in the KT7 to fix the damn hydros .

Every good engineer who finishes a project, really wants to see the finished prodcut doing as it was intended to do. Testing is part of the building process, and a nessary thing to do to ensure it works as intended. So as an engineer, you must test it before it is truely finished and ready for the rest of the world....:whistling:

Besides all the Kristi video's on the "net" are soo old they are irrelevant today. Do the other kristi owners out there a favor and post up some new U tube vids so that future gernations will know what they are...:flowers:

Regards, Kirk

And please, prior to side hill and steep incline testing, install one of these so you don't spill . . .

One track is now installed . Its been slow going and I still hate track rebuilding with a passion . The other one may get installed today . When that is done the KT3 will be movable under its own power for the first time in many, many years .

You will find a "2 ton come a long" and some chain , as great help in getting the track in place to reattached the lacing ( Flexco Fastners) .
Many folks use a Track Jack and they are wonderful if you have one . Mine that came with my KT3 seems to be lost in the shop somewhere . Don't forget to check tire pressure on the Boggie wheels before you tighten the new track . Also you will want to recheck the tightness of the track after a few test runs , because of stretching and break in wear .
Pictures soon .

this is what I like. small and two of them fit in a shoebox size waterproof container. they are always in my snow trac. harbor freight $40

I'm close ....... I am very close .

Pictures or video should be tonight !!!

...marking its territory as well... do they all do that?

;)

If you don't keep it inside in the winter the harsh elements of winter will destroy it and anything else of value .

LOL . I just got your joke , I am a little slow this morning .......

Sittin here and charging up the battery on the KT3 . Its sittin outside .
I pulled a Bob stunt . :doh:Ran it outta gas and then the battery died from lack of use . I been keeping it low on fuel as to not let the gas get too old .
Not really much to report about performace yet , other than it flat jumps when that clutch engages . Still trying to figure out this 8 speed transmission
Pictures should get posted tonight or a video if the wife can get the video to download .

Well the damn video will not load .Its 7 1/2 minutes long
Here is my to do list after testing .
Adjust Timing
Adjust Carb
Bleed tilt system hydraulics
Remount muffler bracket I tore off .
I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars .
The tilt system will take some getting use to
No idea what gear I was in as I misplaced the damn shift decal

It has lots of power and climbs very well . I'll get some pictures of it tilting and the hill climb until we can fix the video problem . Damn thing is too fast for me to run long . I need more than a piece of plywood to sit on .
Here is a few shots the wife did take .

If anyone knows how to load a video , let me know .

OK!!!! The video is now being uploaded to U Tube . It is 7 1/2 minutes long .
It is titled Kristi KT3 and will be ready to view in about 3 1/2 hours from what the site says .Please remember that this is the first time for this cat to hit the snow and I was more interested to check performace/mechanics than showing what it can do.

Please be kind as this is a whole new thing making a video for us . It may not show everything you want to see . but now that we know how, there will be a few more made as I get the KT3 dialed in .

Brakes need adjustment too .
Its now back in the shop to get items that are noted to be fixed . A few more test runs and then its time to reinstall the hood and upper cab .

Feeling pretty damn good tonight . I have a feeling this cat will do anything I ask of it .

The link will be posted here when its done .
