Kristi KT3 #113 Part III???

Picked up the rest of the steel 1 1/4" channel to make wear bars for the track Cleats .

You will need about 120' LF of channel to do both sides .

You will end up with 42 short bars at 11 1/4" and 42 long bars at 19 1/4" to do both sides .
You will also need 420 shoulder bolts @ 5/16"x3" with nuts

As a side note ,if you need a outside oil seal where the sprocket attaches to the shaft on the KT3 the part number is :

National oil seal #710101

I spent half a day in the auto parts house looking at different seals and this one looks to be the correct fit ......
I'll let you know for sure if it is in fact correct when it comes in from NAPA.

Well ,,, We are rolling right along at the Track rebuild . This is a 3 drink job . I hate rebuilding tracks !!!
I now have about 1/3 of one track completed . I should finish the first track on Monday .

Rebuilding tracks is a labor intensive , dirty job . Take your time and do it right .
Here is a few pictures of the motor reinstalled and the track parts waiting for assembly .

One track should be finished today !!!

Many new KT3 parts have started arriving by the local UPS dude . He is like Santa to me .
Looking at getting a front lite bar to replace the old fixed in place lights . I figure to get one on the front and back as I can see how the Snot Trac is doing, as I tow it home with the much superior

Kristi KT3 "He Man" Special Edition
:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

I do not know how some other KT3 owners feel but I DO NOT like the existing Throttle linkage that came on the Kristi
. SO..... I ordered up a Cable style linkage from Mr. Gasket with includes a new gas peddle too . Total cost was $48 bucks through Amazon.com .

I think this would work well for most any Kristi or Snow Trac .

What did you use to connect the air intake to the engine? It looks like heating duct.
I am dealing with a problem on. My snow trac . the air horn will not fit the larger engine because of the oil cooler.

It came with a adjustable 6" sheetmetal 90 degree fitting . I just used a self taping screw to hold it from moving .

OK .... I am going to say this one more time .NOTHING you do on rebuilding your KT3 will be worst than rebuilding the tracks . This is the 2nd set I have built for Kristi's . It is also my last one I will do .
I hate this job . It is super labor intensive .

I would rather peck "Cow Shit" with the chickens than ever do this again .

That being said ,,,, Make damn sure you do it right the first time so you never have to do it again .

More new parts

Need a new starter switch ? This one is a perfect replacement :

About $8 from Amazon plus shipping . Dorman Part #85936

Today saw the other track taken apart . Good GOD!!!! 17 broken track guides !!!!

I have spent 5 hours today welding back all the pieces . Still have 3 to go . I have no idea why one side had 1 broken guide and the other had 17 .

Its time consuming but take your time if you are doing a track rebuild or suffer the consequences for your actions out in the field . Nobody hates track rebuilding more than me , but your cat is only as good as the tracks you have on it ..
So tomorrow we should start putting that last track back together .
All the other ordered parts came in and I should be able to do a test drive this weekend if all goes well .

I will have the wife take a movie of my maiden voyage and post it for you folks that thought this day would never come .

This will also be proof that a KT3 is moving in Idaho under its own power .:w00t2:

I pulled the other track off the Thiokol yesterday I had 2 good guides left on it don't know how it stayed in the tracks.

I remember when we did the ones on the lamtrac the previous owner thought it would be a good idea to weld all of the bolts to the cleets. Well, half the welds had broke free. Try getting a socket on a welded bold to loosen it. We ended up using a cutting torch and cutting all the bolts off.

so did the lam trac ever get to drag any disabled krustys home? or are you canuks too smart to own a bath tub with wooden tracks.

For that to happen, it would mean the bathtub on tracks would actually have to leave the yard and make an attempt at running

Got about half of the other track rebuilt today . I may have it finished tomorrow .
I have about half a dozen little things to buttom up and then its time to head out and try the kt3 .

The new gas peddle /throttle linkage showed up and it is a great improvement over the factory mess that was there .

One new oil seal on the axle shaft
A new electronic ignition system
Rear muffler supports
install the new ignition switch
Battery hold down brackets

what is your plan on the gas pedal one of those big foot things like from the 70's

don,i don't think he is pimping out this one.

Nope . Only a few upgrades where needed . It now has HDPE tracks instead of Hickory . All the belts are 5 ply . The motor is now pushing 1700 CC . And a little more insulation . Air shocks on the doors ect .

I do have a big foot pedal that I could add on :brows:

Allen it's going to suck when us snot tracers cant give you a badd time about that thing sitting around and only moving when it's on a trailer

Oh Hell no ! There will always be something we can argue about .

Changing the subject , I went to town and picked up the Flexco Fastners for the tracks . Part# 375x @$75 bucks a side .

Also picked up the new 4" foam pad for all the new bench seats AND BRIGHT RED Upholstery as the cover material .:brows:
About $225 bucks for all the material .

So the plan is to hide out in the shop all day tomorrow and try damn hard to finish this up and go for a little test drive by Saturday .

Remember Allen, pictures required or it never happened.

OH....... I am going to give you all more than pictures :brows:!!! You are going to get a Movie with all the beer and popcorn you can eat while watching it !!!
The wife is going to film the maiden voyage out of the shop and into the yonder as I boldly go where SnotTracs fear to tread .

I have my plan of attack all figured out . First we do a few time trials across the meadow to loosen her up .Once she is dial in ....... Then I open up the turbo boost and really see what the old girl can do . Then a few hill climbs . Then a few side runs using the tilt system . Them maybe one of me doing a headstand while going backwards down the hill . :wow:

Al, did you ever work out an easier way for old geezers to access the side gullwing doors?

Not Yet . I plan to run it without the top on to work out any bugs in the system .
Once I know its perfect , than I will attack the entry system and reattach the top .

its going to be just like his tractor hope he has some big balls because at -22 they will be small when he is done.
