If you ever decide you want to leave FF ...

And there is a damn good reason why i dont remove details.....i like to track ip addresses to stop multiple accounts....members with split personalities dont do a site any good whatsoever....wherever i Mod i do checks...and we even have software running to detect Jekyll and Hyde.

So in all it's simple...if you dont feel at home dont come back.....unsubscribe from emails, shut the page, remove the link and clear your cookies... and its gone.....simple as no in between.

Galvi, I was a mod on a pretty wild place for a time.
My favourite thing was tracking IP addresses when a flamer or trouble maker attempted to come back under a different name.
The admin knew what was going on, but he'd allow the mods and the other members to have a little fun with it for a while.
Then wham, we'd shoot that member a PM and say what the hell are you doing?!?

I agree.
If you do not like it here. Remove everything on your profile.
Don't make some whining announcement to the forum that you are leaving in hopes that members x, y and z will beg you to stay.
I've threatened to leave here a few times, but not on the board, I've told a few member friends that I was fed up and leaving (in PM),but was always told to stay.
IF I'd ever leave for good, it wouldn't be in some huge announcement.
I'd tell Doc, Dawg and a few... then silently fade away.

That ain't gonna happen anytime soon. :brows:

hmmmmmmm... well the way i see it, and the way ive done it, is if you wanna leave a forum. leave. if you must explain why, dont post a big announcment, send a PM to a mod or admin to discuss why you feel such a strong need to go. maybe they might work with you to fix it!

and Doc? come on. i wouldnt ask you to delete my posts and threads, my stuff will be famous someday! lmao

That's exactly the issue I'm trying to stop, but the fact remains that people change and move on. Theirs friends might stay here, and they might like the guy enough to want some form of explanation.

We do it in other phases of our lives. I left one church and joined the same denomination across town. People leave a job, or transfer within the same corporation. You might move across the country to go to another college.

Some people have quit the Army and after BUD/S became a SEAL.

I left a bike club I enjoyed.

Our lives are always in flux. But telling some one to "shove it" is only one reason you leave a forum. It might be for a very logical reason, and we might like to hear the guy speak.

See in an ideal world 2500+ members sitting down and having a nice cup of tea with someone supplying biccy's and chatting about what went wrong and kissing and making up maybe debating what could be changed to make you change your mind to stay yabba yabba yabba i think you get what i mean....

Dream on it's never going to happen.....a few may wish to talk it over...in most cases people that feel the need to go (IMHO)have caused the dilemma thats making them want to go to start with hence the link to what most members come in and say....

And we use that tune when we inform a member they are banned on a Forum i work with :yum::yum::yum:

In no way can you make 2500+ members all think the same(unless you own a cube ship and call yaself Borg)....good luck trying.

Were you born in the UK or just run out of here?

I think of some of these people as friends, correspond with many, and have a few who are clients.

This "just because it's the internet" crap is for trolls. There's a real live human being at the other end of the coax.

They get sick, they get depressed, they lose their jobs, their kids get sick.

And sometimes they reach out to folks on a forum for guidance or just a bit of balance to get through the day. We get to know them just like any other individual we encounter.

So, you feel people are "replaceable." Good. When it comes to your turn we won't feel so bad if you stomp out.

see this is where your education fails you.....i stated the truth and facts that we are all from different walks of life and no matter how you try 2500+ members will not sit and chat in a civil way.....at times yes but the bubble bursts and often.....and my postings will show i for one care about others more than most....but once again because someone disagrees with you you choose to jump up and throw the odd slim insult and fail to except you indeed are wrong.

As for stomping out did you not want to stop this....was this your mission.....failed like all your quests.

When on a forum as a member from day one you start painting a self portrait.... every post is a brush stroke and when enough posting is done the full portrait emerges...i like sitting back and seeing the pieces come together...i don't see your portrait making it into a Gallery real soon....unless you step back and see the mistakes and get the brush out and do some much needed touching up.

I enjoyed writing that:yum::yum::yum:

Thats me done in this thread.

I did not come here to play doctor, counselor to lost souls or certified head shrink. I doubt that most here want to play those games either as they have full lives to live. For those that don't have a real life, then they need to seek out the 'help' sites that abound on the internet. :whistling:

Now that is a great way to think about yourself and a forum and how you are seen by other members... Reps for Galvy..........

I agree, but how do you know if what you read is truth, or drama/tall tales/boredom etc,.. for attentions sake?

If I'm going to invest my time here caring for folks (as only one can on a forum) and developing friendships, I like to keep it all at a distance until I feel like I know the person, and have built some sort of trust.

If that doesn't happen, it won't ruin my day, believe me.

Okay, now I'm confused.

If some of you tear into Obama and make jokes, you're just 'guys' having fun.

I tear into the Cubans, I get flamed.

I support a friend, I get three pages of whining.

I rip into a one of your favorite guys we get three pages of outrage.

We debate, I proffer a rebuttal. You guys post smilies.

Here's what I need from you. We need a list.

We need firm instructions on which ethnic groups we allow across our borders or support, and which races are off limits.

We need a list of members we can ridicule, and which "golden children" can always get a pass.

We need a list of whiners we can blast, and a list of you whiners who are always right.

Of course, we might get bored, but it will at least be organized. Here's an example. I think Galv has whined for four days in a row. I just sent him to ignore. Am I supposed to take him out now, wait for a vote, make jokes at his expense...

It makes no matter how much longer this thread continues. Folks have their points of view which aren't too likely to be changed. I'd say that the discussion, for the past two or three days, has been mostly moot points.

TT You sound like the one whining to me. And if you put Galv on ignore you obviously have not learned anything.

there will be no list. There are no golden children. You cannot ridicule anyone. You cannot blast any whiners. Simple enough isn't it?

I hope that clears it up for you.

I thought of closing this thread, and probably should have followed my gut feeling. But with talk of disappearing threads I wanted to let this one die naturally. :pat:
My bad.

 Let it ride Doc. I'm enjoying watching you get into it with someone other than me. :poke::hide:

And you thought I was a PITA? :whistling:

I tellya what, Doc, don't close this thread. Let's see just how long some people can go on discussing the discussions that have been discussed during discussions which will, in all likelyhood, produce more discussions about discussions on discuss.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Oh, I learned when they jumped on Locutus, ,,,.

Show me where anyone jumped on Locutus. Members challeneged his ideas, and he did the same in return.

Jumping on implies and attack of some sort. Show me what you are talking about. Point me to the posts. I suspect the exchange went both ways.

You predicted both you and Locutus would be banned here. Now Locutus has left, saying he is not mad, but angry.

You have suggested you might be banned for saying things such as you support whatever Locutus had said. You were not banned. So why are you still complaining?

The whole point of Doc posting this thread was to let people know what he would or would not do with your account, your posts and whatever else. Now so far it's morphed into this and will probably go a different direction soon.

I'm trying to view this as a new member or guest who might want to see what the thread is all about. After reading the whole progression, I'm not sure I'd even want to join.

Doc, maybe you're right, you should have posted it as a sticky and then locked it.

The guy gives good chuckles here Doc. I read where he says he doesn't get banned from forums...rather he abandons them. My guess is that after so long at each forum his ignore list is so long ...theres no one left to argue with. :yum: I knew lots of kids like him growing up. They were the kind that when they didn't get their way , they took their ball and bat and went home. Look that up in your Funk and Wagnell TT.

Jerry, I did just that in the FF info and questions forum. I moved this to the open forum so the bs could continue.

Glad to see that not much has changed around here. Doc... when will you be passing out the Kool Aid and Peanut Butter crackers???
