Often said I'd like to murder the soul who invented the call light.
Not really, but when it comes to certain patients and residents who turn them on for straightening their blankets ... I am tempted to ask them if their arms are broke.
We hear the damned things in our sleep-- those and smart alarms, chair and bed checks too.

lollie, you'd despise me if u were a nurse here & i was your patient. i musta pushed the call bell a million times when too weak to deal w/ simple tasks. the time i was in there for 1.5 mos., i'd push it, & if they ignored it for like 20 minutes, i'd make the alarm beep until they'd scramble to see why it was beeping.:whistling: most of the nurses were great- there were the few, tho, that shouldn't gotten into nursing at all.

There is an art to handling those nurses.:whistling: I knew a lot of the tricks of the trade and put them to good use when I was in for 2 months. There are more than a few who remember me yet.:w00t2:

I was speaking mostly of patients on rehab who are fully ambulatory, but once in bed, can't even seem to click a TV remote or sit up to straighten their beds.

Yes.. many nurses shouldn't have gotten into the field at all.
I'm not one of them.

i concur. i say i would like an adminsrator & a different nurse. if they won't get me admin., i file fomal complaints. i've thrown fits on a few. they all remember me, i think. my fave says she got so excited when she saw me listed as a patient, & that she checks daily. i'd just exchanged a letter w/ her & she'd sent me a card. then i was in again & she left her floor for like an hour to chit-chat w/ me. that's sweeeet~

lollie, i think u'd make a great nurse.

I am working on retraining the one who fired me up with morphine after I got my pacemaker installed. I left her draw blood the last time i was there and we had a brief chat. She was surprised I remembered her and what happened. Guess I am mellowing somewhat in my old age as I told her to just let it be and we would start fresh.:flowers:It has been almost 5 years and time to leave the past in the past.

The first rule for handling nurses is to go in through the belly. You bring them pizza one night, cookie trays , veggie tray w/ cold cuts, home made cakes and pies. Strawberry cheesecake works really good. And you have to rotate the shifts so they all get first dibs on whatever hits their shift. They gain a few pounds and I get treated real nice. I did the same for the wife during her 3 surgeries also.:yum::yum:
