We have Dish Network and the HDNET channel is broadcasting a documentary? movie? called THE HOPE & THE CHANGE. Apparently its also being broadcast on many local TV channels across the country. HDNET has this show being re-broadcast a dozen times or more, each at different times over the next couple weeks.

Its sort of interesting. Everyone featured in the show is an Obama voter. Everyone is complaing. Everyone is suffering from the economic downturn. Everyone is talking about over-spending, about Obama vacations, about debt, about how Obama is dividing the nation with racial and economic warfare tactics, etc.

It seems to be a pretty good cross section of America, lots of women, some blacks, hispanics, asians, and the majority are whites.

One of the ladies interviewed said "when I hear the term "HOPE AND CHANGE" I think of the saying "BAIT AND SWITCH"

One of the guys said "I'm not interested in what he says anymore, I'm interested in what he has done."

If Everyone is complaining, and Everyone is suffering, and everyone...whatever, why is Obama is still ahead? Think maybe this is to fire up the RW base? Yea, I bet it is a great cross section. Talk about mind control.

Interesting. That gives me Hope. :thumb: :D

I'm on direcTV and i do not see it in the guide but there are so many channels to look through. If anyone knows when and what channel direcTV is showing this on please post a pointer for me.

I love how you miss things to be more convient for your point of view. I clearly wrote that all of the people were Obama voters and were disenchanted in some way (even listed some of their complaints). So within that group it is a great cross section. Its no different than the people I encounter every day who voted for him and are not happy with him.

As to firing up the right wing base, this is more of a depressing documentary/show than insipiring. But clearly it was made with some agenda.

From what I can tell the only cable/satellite channel that is running it is HDNET. If you don't have HDNET then you may want to look up your local TV channels and see if one of them will be broadcasting the show.

I don't think we need to fire up the right wing base. They are fine with the ioptions available to them.

The left is dissolving in the smoke and lost inthemirrorsof Hope and Change. Somehow it did not triockle downtheir way as promised.

Independents have to choices. Take a chance on repeat, reprise, relapse.

Or, go with the guy who's record of success favors a real Hope that things will Change.

Anyone watching THE HOPE AND THE CHANGE tonight on HDNMV channel?

It starts at 11;35 Eastern / 10:35 Central

The documentary features interviews with Obama voters who have changed their minds and no longer support him. They have a lot of interesting things to say.

According to The Daily Beast, PBS were to have a panel to discuss the film.
Haven't seen it on my channel lineup here at all (the film) nor the PBS broadcasted panel discussion.

Here's a link to where you can watch it on TV or order the dvd: http://www.thehopeandthechange.com/tv.aspx

I'm not subscribed to HDNet but I do get AXS TV and I see where it is coming to that channel soon.

I'm not a big believer in the polls since they are based on percentages from the 2008 election and I seriously doubt Obama voters will be turning out in high numbers this time around. He got a lot of the youth vote last time because they wanted to be able to say they voted for the first black president. I just don't think the enthusiasm is there this time around especially since many of them can't find jobs. I'm actually glad the polls are skewed in Obama's favor, all the more reason some folks won't take the time to vote since they think he is going to win anyway. Anyone who is against Obama will see it as all the more reason to take the time to vote.

Please check local listings for channels and times. Up-to-date information about showings will be added on this page as soon as it is available.

Thank you Mama.
Got it bookmarked.

Good post Mama. :thumb: :tiphat:

Yep, most of the polls are based on 2008 election turnout. If turnout is the same as 08 Obama has the advantage. Here's hoping Obama's base is not nearly as fired up as 4 years ago, when they had the chance to vote for the 1st black president and CHANGE, so with luck the turnout will be lopsided to the right. :D

I designed and implemented polls when I was in graduate school. I still study polls on an almost daily basis.

I trust 2 presidential polls. PEW RESEARCH and RASMUSSEN. No others. Neither of these two over-weight the polls based on 2008 turnout.

Is HD Net the channel that is now called Velocity? It has mostly gear head shows and car auctions on it, or is this a different channel?

Interesting and good to know Bob. I enjoyed Statistics classes in school but never focused on polls. I do find them interesting now days, especially after how well they predicted the 08 election. Since then I do put more credence in them.

Currently Rasmussen also has Obama ahead in Ohio but by a much smaller margin than the other polls.

No.

The channel is abbreviated "HDNMV" which is short for "High Definition Network Movies."

TRUST Rasmussen.
