What a day! So yesterday I went to retrieve a few things from the fairgrounds property building adjacent to our place. The gates are locked but I can use the sxs to get there through our trails that connect to the property. On my way back I decided to stop and do some trail trimming with the chainsaw. I finally get to the house and bring everything in including the keys to the fairgrounds property. My wife reminds me of something I forgot to grab then heads out to the bank. I go to grab the fairgrounds property keys to access the building. Gone! I start panicking thinking I dropped then along the trail. I borrowed a metal detector and went back searching everywhere I stopped. Drove the whole fairgrounds property searching. Nothing. I get the cold shoulder from my wife all evening because I "lost" her keys. This morning, I head back out looking with the sxs for an hour. I come home and the "missing" keys were hanging. I didn't lose them in the first place. SHE took them when she went to the bank as the key for safety deposit box is on there. Then proceeded to blast me all evening for losing them. Oh well. They're found. I'm going for a massage then kicking my feet up for the afternoon.

Went through all the small gardens and ripped out all the weeds. I have a large trailer full. Too windy today but hoping to burn them. If I just chuck them somewhere, I'm afraid they'll grow back.

Windy and somewhat cold today so limiting my outside activities.

While I was out shopping, I ran into one of my former nurse aides and her little boy.
She's doing well, surviving on her own (minus the piece of work she had been involved with).
She's going to update her license since it lapsed and will be working at the hospital as a patient tech.
Yay! Good girl Freedom!
I love her to bits.

Start a compost pile. From that they cannot escape. Instead, they make good soil conditioner come next spring.

2nd knee replacement today. Thankfully i’m out of. knees. Never have to do this again.
Pain meds and pain block still working so not to bad so far.
I’m ready for the PT this time.
I have 2 bionic knees done years apart. on the first one I asked the doctor why he scheduled me for the last surgery at 2:00PM after the surgery he said doing my knee was like wrestling a 1/4 side of beef and he would be too beat to do one after me :p

ZERO children trick-or-treating here (again). That probably makes 15 years in a row? Maybe more?

Ever the optimists, we have candy.

I guess more for me!

We buy the candy every year just in case. Haven't had a trick or treater in over 20 years.

The kids would have to walk down a 700 foot long gated driveway to get to me. And somehow get to the island before they got to the gate. Haven't seen one in 23 years.

Our home is only about 100' off the road, but there are just 30 homes on roughly 150 acres that make up our road. When Melen was a kid we had trick or treaters, but that was 20-25 years ago and several other families had kids too. So it was full size candy bars for everyone because we only would get the neighbors. As the kids aged up, the 8 to 12 that we would get dwindled down to zero.

We had more than last year. Maybe 25 kids

Two blocks east of us was crowded. Better candy? IDK

Trout fishing from a boat in a river in Missouri. We ofetn go to Port Orange FL to fish for red drum. IM going to ask fir our next trip to Vancouver for salmon.
We have a lot of "Trout" streams here in MO. I was unaware of a river where you could fish for them from a boat. Never tried it. Maybe the Current river below "Big Spring "Or lake "Taneycomo." The "White" river, at the Northfork, or as it goes into Arkansas just below the dam, maybe. Big Rainbow there.

I prefer Bennett "Springs" or "Roaring River." The "Swan" is near my Ozark ranch. However, it is not supported by the Conservation Dept. So Trout there are sparse. I have canoed the "Lower Niangua" and "Roaring River", never fished for trout but they are there.

Thanks Francis.
I don't see myself that way but thanks.
Call me beautiful on the inside, then I'll say hey! Correctomundo!
Your "inside" Beauty shows with every one of you posts Lollie. It is why you are loved and respected here.
However, I do enjoy the bonus of having the image in my mind when I read them.

They went in a pile but not to be used for probably a decade. All weeds, lots of seeds. I'll let them rot for a long, long time.

I have two piles which I alternate every year. Two years of digestion each. Every other year one is done and have never had a problem with spontaneous weeds from seeds.

So far today, I drove my son to work 10 minutes drive west then to the city to pick up a new brake rotor for the truck. They were overdue as one side was metal on metal. Started yesterday. I knew they were due. Came home and did a full service on the front brakes. I already had a set of pads. Then painted a set of rims on winter tires for the grand am that I picked up for cheap. Tires are good but rusted rims.

I have a lot of space to put crap I don't really want in the garden... yet. Weeds, dead animals... I put it a pile for a decade.
I get dump trucks of years old manure and clean dirt as needed. I'll use that first. ;)

My back yard is 3 feet higher than it was when I bought the place. Most of that is Kitchen and Garden compost, shredded woodchips and sand, all added over time. Without added fertilizers, gardens are lush.
