benghazi

Dont let him drag you down on his level. I have quit even talking to him because he does this. Might be why he was banned somewhere?

Agreed guys and it is like I said speaking to a wall which is more likely to respond favorably. Will just move along from this tread now as nothing more to see other than the usual bitching about Obama

Before you two move along, kindly answer the question.

Fine, parse the word "terror" into what Obama said about Benghazi in the Rose Garden. Then tell us, mak2: Why did Obama go on for weeks hanging his hat on the youtube video? ... up to and including his UN speech, referring, not to terrorism, but the denigrating video SEVEN TIMES?

WHY?

Here is the exact words the morning after.

THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. Every day, all across the world, American diplomats and civilians work tirelessly to advance the interests and values of our nation. Often, they are away from their families. Sometimes, they brave great danger.

Yesterday, four of these extraordinary Americans were killed in an attack on our diplomatic post in Benghazi. Among those killed was our Ambassador, Chris Stevens, as well as Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith. We are still notifying the families of the others who were killed. And today, the American people stand united in holding the families of the four Americans in our thoughts and in our prayers.

The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack. We're working with the government of Libya to secure our diplomats. I've also directed my administration to increase our security at diplomatic posts around the world. And make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people.

Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all faiths. We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence. None. The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these brutal acts.
Already, many Libyans have joined us in doing so, and this attack will not break the bonds between the United States and Libya. Libyan security personnel fought back against the attackers alongside Americans. Libyans helped some of our diplomats find safety, and they carried Ambassador Stevens’s body to the hospital, where we tragically learned that he had died.

It's especially tragic that Chris Stevens died in Benghazi because it is a city that he helped to save. At the height of the Libyan revolution, Chris led our diplomatic post in Benghazi. With characteristic skill, courage, and resolve, he built partnerships with Libyan revolutionaries, and helped them as they planned to build a new Libya. When the Qaddafi regime came to an end, Chris was there to serve as our ambassador to the new Libya, and he worked tirelessly to support this young democracy, and I think both Secretary Clinton and I relied deeply on his knowledge of the situation on the ground there. He was a role model to all who worked with him and to the young diplomats who aspire to walk in his footsteps.

Along with his colleagues, Chris died in a country that is still striving to emerge from the recent experience of war. Today, the loss of these four Americans is fresh, but our memories of them linger on. I have no doubt that their legacy will live on through the work that they did far from our shores and in the hearts of those who love them back home.

Of course, yesterday was already a painful day for our nation as we marked the solemn memory of the 9/11 attacks. We mourned with the families who were lost on that day. I visited the graves of troops who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan at the hallowed grounds of Arlington Cemetery, and had the opportunity to say thank you and visit some of our wounded warriors at Walter Reed. And then last night, we learned the news of this attack in Benghazi.

As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it, and in some cases, lay down their lives for it. Our country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe.

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.

But we also know that the lives these Americans led stand in stark contrast to those of their attackers. These four Americans stood up for freedom and human dignity. They should give every American great pride in the country that they served, and the hope that our flag represents to people around the globe who also yearn to live in freedom and with dignity.

We grieve with their families, but let us carry on their memory, and let us continue their work of seeking a stronger America and a better world for all of our children.

Thank you. May God bless the memory of those we lost and may God bless the United States of America.
END

Joe, there is even a vid, but they can go on and on about he did not say it. Goes all the way up, even Romney denied he said it, and there is even video. Jindal is exactly right. The party of stupid.

Geez Kane, I do think we all can surmise the answer to that. No proof of it but I would give a two word answer. The Election! Why admit to a terror attack with your job on the line if you can instead blame it on a video and claim lack of good intel. :pat:

So? Very eloquent. Then why go on for weeks about a video?

BTW, the lovely speech goes this way. Note the paragraphing. The word 'terror' is unrelated to Behghazi, but is linked to 9/11. Answer the question or move along.

Perhaps Doc you should listen to some of the right leaning congressmen and senators after hearing what Petraeus had to say last week. They reported that the administration including Rice said, was based on the information they was given to put out by the CIA at that time. It was a CIA operation from the start and they put out the data for the talking points. In addition that same day there where a number of embassies marched on at the same time such as Egypt and others in the Muslim world over the video. About 10 if I recall but not sure however it was all over the news on 9-11-12 before the attack that kill 4 Americans.

Not a thing wrong with the questions it is the conjecture that bothers me. You know Obama coverup etc. Wait till you get the answers before forming an opinion which I do and you don't before shooting off about what you think is going on and god forbid someone disagrees with your facts based on your opinion as you seem to avoid fact posted. No point in posting facts here it is all biased if you don't agree with them so it comes down to if you believe it to be true it must be.
Not so Joec but you will believe it to be anyways. Show where I said Obama did it.

My conjecture....
Someone in the White House, likely the deputy staff at the NSC, appears to have altered the CIA assessment. Poor Susan Rice defended it out or belief or loyatly. Laid it out and stood by it.

Either they set her up or she was a participant.

Now, I don't believe this solely out of my understanding of what facts and opinions I have heard, it is the considered opinion of many who are participating in the investigation.

That the changes were made is no longer opinion, much less "conjecture" but according to Petraeus testimony,,, fact. Who did it and why is the current question.
I know I'm being a stubborn butt head. However, that is where it lays as of today.

Here is my conjecture, We will find out who is to blame in the next few weeks. It won't be the President.

Please, with all due respect, I ask that you stop believing and arguing with what you thought I might have said.

Liberman said similar this AM on Fox. The real question is why the consulate wasn't closed sooner, but the RW insists on focusing on something that makes no difference. Fox just went on and on about it because of its agenda. Funny the important thing to the right wing is what Obama called it. I guess it keeps em busy. I have to quit saying Jindal is right, but how much more evidence do you need? .

We are talking about then not now, you know a couple of days after the fact. Today a lot more facts are known which is usual in all cases during and investigation. This is especially true when dealing with secrets by the CIA or NSC and even the FBI.

Just my conjecture (along with many, many others) is that this was no 'consulate' but a CIA location to either run guns to the Syrian rebels, or a rendition station. I go with the latter. The so-called 'safe room' in which our people took refuge (later killed by smoke inhalation) was no 'safe room'. It was a jail. Check out the pics.

General Betreaus' mistress even said as much. That we were holding prisoners at the location, prompting the attack.

I am sure you would be funny if I could tell what you are talking about. I leave here for months at a time. I think I said earlier if me and joe left. Dont get your hopes up, I have been here since right after it opened.

Whatever it was,it is now exposed so the WhiteHouse canno longer refer to it as a consulate. If it was, then somebody signed off it it not beigng up to standards for such a facility. I may (conjecture) explain why they would not fortify or man it with security measures appropriate for the situation it was in.

Nio conspiracy here,,,,Jus' thinking out loud about what might reasonably explain what is unexplainable. I hope that is OK?

ya know, I corrected my spellin' grammar and context ont his post,,,, but it didn't take. Let's try agi'n...

Petraeus claims he made the assessment, within 24 hours of the event, that it was terrorism. Rice went on the talk shows 6 days later with "altered" talking points.
But many of us conjectured that this happened exactly as the testimony is unfolding to prove..

I seem to remember you and I discussing these events and my admonishments to you that we could only be making presumptions back then. Until the facts came in.
Now all of a sudden you are cool with that?

It's pretty simple, Barry has been touting al Queada being decimated and four Americans being murdered by them upset his apple cart right before the election. He thought he could just ignore it and it would go away, when it didn't he covered it up so he could be re-elected. Hopefully his ass will swing in the wind and he will be impeached. What a feckless piece of crap the empty suit has proven to be. He makes Carter look like Rambo and that's not an easy task.

Exactly. But somehow politics prevents our leaders from stating the obvious, particularly the liberals, who swing in the wind obediently defending the indenfensible.

Their explanation: Obama didn't want to tip off Al-Qaeda that GM is alive, Bin Laden is dead and Al-Qaeda is on its heels.

I have really not heard Obama say AlQeda or any other terrorist group was no longer a threat, I have never heard that even once. If he says many of them have been killed, without doubt, that is true. if he says a lot of harm has been done to their chain of command that is also true (drone thing you guys dont like either). But no one would ever say a terrorist group was no longer a threat.

I think if Obama came out and said our people were under attack in Benghazi and we were sending in troops to handle the situation millions of voters more would have swang to his side. The intentional denial thing is counterintutive.

OMG! OMG! mak2, we actually AGREE on something. If Obama had only told the TRUTH! OMG!

Mods, this thread should be closed in happy celebration!

Did you watch the Liberman vid from Sunday morning I linked to yesterday? He sounds much more reasonalbe and bleiveable the all the hysteria from Fox.
