What are you doing today, II

Just funning with you Franc. ;)
That's OK. I have been a bit frustrated with keeping the Bird Bath level. The dirt there is mostly compost and not stable. I hate putting a lot of gravel in it as I wasn't quite sure the Bath was a good idea. So, your comment hit a soft spot.

BTW, it is Crumpy's fault we have one. The Koi Pond was sufficient for years. It is under re-construction but still has some water in it.

Anyone ever use an induction heater instead of a torch to heat up bolts? I bought one too do a job where a flame was out of the question. Took all of 20 seconds to heat

the fittings to get them loose. I should have bought one of these years ago. No more flame for me!

Friday the 13th.
Spilled a hot cup of coffee first thing this morning on my clean carpet.
Almost slipped and fell in the shower after that.
Only good thing is- I've found out my best friend Jules and I are working on the front unit tomorrow night.
Thank ya Jesus ☺️

We had a humongous one at work for the 75mm bolts on the machine it usea 480v welder outlet to the power supply and bolt would get red hot in about a minuet.
We also had some big studs like 100mm that it had to heat up with a rod in the center and tighten the nut while it was hot to torque the vacuum pump head there were about 35-40 of them the motor was 3000 hp driving it

Yeah, Friday the 13th.
Crashed my main laptop first thing this morning. Luckily I have backups on my spare and testing laptop. Been re-installing Linux distros to it all day. Went and got a haircut and some groceries in between installs. Still tidying up the installs as we speak.

I'm out at camp with my wife alone for the night. It's her first time out as I opened up everything 3 weeks ago. So far she only found 3 things I didn't bring out but one was resolved quickly. Not bad. 😁 She's been busy with other bigger things at home. I apologize in advance for anything offensive I may or may not post from this point forward 🍻🍺🍻🍺

I was at the barber shop in Crown Point on the square this morning. Got there just before 11am. Police parked right in front of the barber shop, cop was sitting in the car, but the open sign was lit in the barber shop so I walked in.

Never been in there when the place was empty. Well it was me and the barber and the guy in the chair who was just getting finished up. The shop is usually packed on Saturday, which is why I normally avoid it on Saturday.

Apparently the police were planning for a riot that was scheduled to start at NOON. The "No Kings" rally. Basically a bunch of blue haired liberals who don't want to coexist with anyone? The cop came in to use the bathroom, chatted with me for a bit. He has a pepper ball 'cannon' in the car. There were several federal officers scattered about outside. They are expecting about 300 people. Barber shop owner was pretty pissed off, he is trying to make a living, says these crazy people chase away customers from all the shops and stores around the square and make life miserable. Hopefully it remains peaceful, but as I was getting ready to leave, the hillbilly boys with their American Flags mounted to their pick up trucks started to circle the square. There were 2 or 3 of those trucks doing laps.

Preprinted signs for the protestors show support of Palestine, cutting off all aid to Israel, supporting campus protests, etc.

Got to go out and do some lawn mowing now.

Happy Monday y'all. I was awakened at 5am by the most gawd awful cries and screams from outside. Looked outside and saw a coyote. Thankfully we have a fenced in dog run with 6ft tall fencing right next to the house for our 3 smaller dogs to go out.

On today's agenda. I have an appointment and some errands to do in the city this morning. I was up on the roof of our fifth wheel travel trailer changing a plastic vent over the refrigerator and installing a vent cover over one of the 3 roof vents so we can leave it open while traveling for air circulation. I also washed the roof as today hopefully I will be able to get up there again and apply a coat of rubber roof coating on it to protect it.

This evening, weather dependent I am taking my scout troop sailing with the local yatch club. They hold races in the harbor 3 times a week and take us out every year in June.

Finishing up the project started yesterday.
We have 7 Tomato plants and 5 pepper plants in pots because I have no space for a vegetable garden. The only sunny spot is on top of the patio walls so, we set the tomato plants there. The Pepper plants are scattered about the patio wherever the sun shines well.

Things were going well. All the plants were growing high, staked and over 6 feet above the pots. But we had a sudden death of one of the Tomato plants. Perplexing. And then a week later a second one. No explanation so we got on the web.

The deaths were caused by the Walnut tree above them. Apparently, there is a chemical, Juglone, in the Walnut tree bark, leaves, flowers and root system that poisons certain other plants. The male fronds were raining downlike brown snow for weeks. 60 years of growing tomatoes, I never heard of this. Just rainwater off the leaves will cause leaf-wilt in the new growth.

So, the Tomato plants get moved and the pepper plants will take their place. As far as we have researched, the peppers are not affected by Juglone. We shall see.

So, make note, don't plant Tomatoes in ground or near the root system or canopy of a walnut tree.

Also today, limbing some Vanderford Pines and other trees with low hanging branches. Wednesday, I hope to have time to grind them.
Otherwise, I'll do that after our New York trip this coming weekend to visit our Granddaughter.

I've had a busy day. First thing was a quick trip to the city to the rv store to pick up an awning bracket for the fifth wheel and some awning tape to fix it before our big rv trip in a couple weeks. We're off to the west coast northern BC start of the Alaska hwy hauling the fifth wheel.

Then home to load garbage for a dump run. I had my 12ft trailer full again from scrap from the flat deck conversion project I've been working on. Then home to clean out the back seat in my truck.

I found the floor after 8 years and.....

I've located half of my missing tools! I'm now pinned up to the fifth wheel camper to work on the awning.

Today was mostly about getting the Chrysler Pacifica loaded with our Granddaughter's stuff in preparation for our trip to New York State where she now resides. The van is loaded wall to wall, front to back, floor to ceiling in the cargo area. The fold, stow, and go seats are an amazing feature.

On our way back we plan to stop at Starved Rock Lodge. It is an old favorite just a bit south of Bolingbroke IL where we started our young family together. It was a good weekend getaway and is one of Crumpy's favorite places. We will enjoy a nice meal and a nite to relive old times.

About 2,300 miles round trip.

If you're going from NY to IL, I'm kind of close. Are you still interested in the zip line?

I spent the morning up on the roof of the fifth wheel applying a coat of rubberized roof coating. I'm pretty impressed with the stuff so far. Then picked up a used rock guard tow hitch for the truck. It needed some paint and to be adjusted to fit my truck so I did that. And gave it a coat of paint.

I wish I could be. Plans for Hippie Ridge are on hold right now. Money, &time are short. And,,,; My son has developed and interest in owning it.

Thanks for asking.

Where are you in relation to I-80? Or for that matter, I-70 or I-81?

Long timers here know that I play guitar and sing. I previously played in a band for 10 years at our church but haven't done that since last year so I'm a little rusty on the stage performance side. I have been practicing probably 1-3hrs a day for a while now as today, I am playing an outdoor BBQ in the city. I have a library of 35 songs that I have been working on for today. Plus, at the church there were 3 playing guitar and 5 singing. This is just me. Solo performance doing a variety of songs from different genres. I have my amp and mic ready. 🎤

After the BBQ I'm heading out to camp for the night before a scout camp this weekend.

Mostly recovering.

3 days of pruning and picking up the debris, and then fencing lessons in the evenings and my arms have pretty much decided that it is time to rebel against the rest of my body. Everything from my shoulders through my fingertips are simply in pain.

6am started the day with 600mg of Ibuprofen. 8:30am I added a tramadol. I'm going to take another 600mg of ibuprofen shortly.

No yard work today.

I did make a couple different Hamburger Helper meals. It is something that Kobe reliably will eat. We prefer giving him Hamburger Helper, that we add some veggies into, than simple mac & cheese, which he also will happily eat. But somehow I think the H-H is better, as it includes protein and veggies.

I will be going to fencing this afternoon, but that will be just to do equipment repairs. So nothing physically demanding.

Ordered 23 ton of stone this morning. I wanted to use millings but my source has run dry.
Neighbor got a dog yesterday. Beautiful Border Collie. Dug out the items needed to help him run invisible fence.
Getting ready to go drop off a car for my daughter who's flying back from FL tonight. We're going to park it at the residence of the person picking her up from the airport (which is half way between the airport and our house).

Are you racing carts or Porsches?
My budget is $40 or so for a 15 minute ride in a cart.
