And, same seller.

I was at their equipment yard a while back about something else and of course had to look when I saw the snowcats. Dont recall for sure, but think they told me it came from some sort of utility company. It does look like it has that few hours though.

I do have to wonder why it only accumulated 151 hrs in 22 years.
one tv station here had an imp. 1969 with 50 hours. it only got ran when they had to get to the transmitter. which in the mid Willamette valley was seldom. it sat in a garage most of it's life. The new station owners got rid of it. I assume to an employee, as I never saw the for sale.

There doesn't seem to be much VMC representation on this forum. Looks nice though.

SnoTrans has had those VMCs listed forever. That might tell you something. For what it's worth, buying at auction and then reselling at a higher price is called good business....Bob
Good info about how long they are listed. Good business with slow turn around :).

The RT01 was sold with Kohler power, VW power and (Duetz (not sure about spelling) over the course of their history. I agree that there doesn't seem to be much representation here of these. I've been trying to find out how reliable they are and no response.

May be Im not knowledgeable about capitalism much, but changing sticker price from low to higher and not working on machine, tested it probably not the business I call good business.

I'm merely pointing out the timeless business practice of buying low and then selling higher; known as maximizing profit; if you've never done such a thing then you are right, you aren't knowledgeable about capitalism. P.S..........where do you think many car dealers get their used inventory...Bob

No idea. I understand buying low and selling high :) . Someone though have to work at the factory to make them, some to service and its honorable then flipping items. I would respect if you buy, improve , upgrade and resell , no question but changing price tags and sitting on it , would contradict my principles.

How is it that you are privy to what SnoTrans pays for their equipment and what they do to refurbish them before they price them?

Im not talking about other equipment , just about particular VMC rt01 they sell , pics and condition identical to the original auction pics , nothing done to it , except price tag 16k and now 35k

As far as auction prices all listed freely accessible even with user names and bid for every item that was listed once on the web.

What evidence do you have that the rt01 SnoTrans has is the same one you saw at auction? Listing? Pictures?

Not mine. Buying underpriced items then flipping is classic capitalism.

Bob, I dont see point to prove what I is obvious and disclose sources I use to verify prices on machines that were bought on any auction and now for sale.
You agreed and compared them with used car dealer who buys and resells. I cant speak about other cats but this and similar with blade that was sold for 42 k were bought at the same auction in Nevada :) (giving you location ) . Oil change does not count. I shared my perspective on this particular machine and my opinion on pricing and actual labor involved in this pricing. Again my point that I respect pros or DIYers who buys work on them and resell with part of them invested into the snowcat or other item.

Its my personal opinion , hate it or love it :).

Capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit. Central characteristics of capitalism include capital accumulation, competitive markets, a price system, private property and the recognition of property rights, voluntary exchange and wage labor.

So more then just flipping , production and competition is too.

The only vt-01 I saw online that sold at auction sold in 2017 for 16k with a plow, winch and different air intake are different from the only 99 vt-01 SnoTrans has on their website. Hours listed are completely different so I am not convinced they are the same cat. In any event it sounds like you do not like the fact that someone can buy an item for one price and sell it a higher price regardless of the profit he may realize. Something tells me if you came across a flawless 63 split window 'Vette and got somehow for a small fraction of its true worth, you would sell it for it's true value and try to maximize your gain; or would your principles keep you from doing that? SnoTrans is a reputable dealer who I have purchased from so I doubt they are trying gouge anyone. If it sells for 35k then more power to them;if not they may have to lower their price..True market value will dictate that again part of capitalism

May the power be with you! The one with plow was sold by them actually for 42 k as per my conversation. I personally would not sell for double or triple price. Just different opinions and points of view . I shared my prelim research. I thank you for your input and confirmation that snowtrans is operating like used car dealer and pricing same way too.

I think Im free to express my opinion here. am I?

I did my research of prices, what they were bought for and what some dealers trying to push them for vs private sale. I'll just keep looking for a better price ! I did not make any conclusions, just first impression , it might change the more I learn about dealers

Different opinions are always wanted here. Snotrans IS in fact a used vehicle dealer but I don't think pricing of snowcats is as cut and dried as pricing a used car....i.e. availability, market size and demand, location of vehicle etc. If you wouldn't sell something for double or triple if situation arose, you may see it a principled, others may see it as foolish. But you sound like you can get valuable price info on snowcats I've never been able to get. I may get ahold of you before my next cat purchase to see if you can get the best intell on the vehicle for me....Bob
