Yep. Sad but true.
I like the idea of selling California to Mexico for 20 trillian, then we're out of debt and the illegal immigration problem would be cut in half. Hell, maybe sell it to them for 10 trillian. That would cut our debt in half. Works for me.
If you missed it, go back and watch the interview with governor Jerry 'Moonbeam' Brown on 60 minutes a few weeks ago. He thinks he and CA have all the answers to the world problems.
BTW he now has to deal with legalized recreational pot. That will be a fun show in the following years.

Please no! California is the 7th largest food producer in the world. We are not all the same. We just happen to be outnumbered. There are many great folks here in this state, we just don't have a voice at this time.
I am born and raised in southern CA. I worked all my career in CA. When I retired and had time to sit back and watch the direction CA was going politically and socially, I just had to move out. Taxes were and are going up, government over-site was and is growing, whole communities are becoming dependent on the government.
Family values are being eroded, cultures are swinging away from what I grew with. When newspapers changed their advertising to Spanish, to get a public service job or promotion, you were competing not with skill, you were competing with anyone who could speak Spanish, it became clear that it was not going to get better in the next generation. The influx of families from Mexico and central America was tipping CA away from English to Spanish language and culture. When I saw a large national retail chain change all their signs in the store from English to Spanish, I was shocked.
Now many of my friends and family are moving out of CA while they are still productive. A lot of talent is moving out to other states. Whole California families are moving into my small community. This can't lead to a positive future for CA.
I know there are good people there in what appears to be to be a hostile environment. I feel for you all. Your home state is being changed into something far from what it was decades ago. I truly cannot imagine how tough it must be to live there with all the madness going on. I realize some areas are far away and not impacted as much by the madness but still I imagine it would be quite frustrating.

It is true. There is lush farm lands in the valley and beautiful forests. The people in my neck of the woods are very aware of what is going on and there is a strong push to get a republican governor. We are terribly outnumbered, but we are hoping.
With the car culture in California the recreational use of marijuana seems like a very bad idea, enough folks use it illegally so with it now legal there will be a whole lot more folks trying it and you know that they will be driving and some will add alcohol to it. Add to that that there is no quick and easy test for marijuana use like there is for alcohol and you have a bunch of impaired drivers on the road.

You may be on to something there, Mike.
As a whole hispanics are hard working, family oriented folks, but when you arrive from another country dirt poor it's hard to turn down what is perceived as a free lunch only to find later when you no longer need that free lunch you have to pay for that lunch that someone else is now eating.

Illegals are draining our welfare and medical systems, if you talk to folks in construction you will learn that if you leave stuff unattended on a construction site with Hispanics you will be buying another one. I have a friend who rented out a house to a Hispanic family, the house had a separate building that was locked and had a freezer full of fish and deer meat . He went to collect the rent one month and the place was vacant, filthy, the separate building had been broken into and not only was the meat gone so was the freezer. He went to the Hispanics boss to find out where they were and was informed that they stopped showing up for work the day before. Anchor babies are another problem, it’s a way for illegals to gain a foothold in this country, and like a old friend of mine once said “have you ever seen a Hispanic female of child bearing age who wasn’t pregnant and had a stair step group of youngsters with her. All of those anchor kids are a huge drain on our already strained welfare system and the young ones start having babies as soon as they can to perpetuate the cycle.
