Why so many sizes of TV's about the same size?

It all come from top management, you know how they can't make decisions...

"so what should the size be 37 38 maybe 40 42???...send that memo down to packaging Mary asap"

I would guess some of those sizes had to do with accomodating holes in cabinets for the older CRT tvs.

My guess too.

A couple weeks ago I upgraded our bedroom TV from a 32" flat panel to a 39" flat panel. Prior to that it was a 26"(?) old style CRT set.

The external dimensions of the 32 and the new 39 inch TV sets are almost the same, but the screen size on the 39 is obviously bigger and the plastic case surrounding the screen shrunk down from about a 2" frame surrounding the screen to maybe a 1/2" frame surrounding the screen.

The screens keep getting bigger but the cabinet they fit into is still the same size :hammer:
