I saw this meme on the internet, got me thinking.

I carry a gun.

I carry a wallet. Inside the wallet is a flat multi-tool that is slightly thicker than a credit card. Honestly don't use it much, but it fits and is thin so its there if I need it. I think its made of titanium? Blade is sharp, just handy on rare occasions. The wallet is newer, and very compact. Not thinner than my old bi-fold, but about 24% smaller in other dimensions. I like it for most things but if I carry a lot of cash it gets thick fast because the cash has to be tri-folded to fit under the silicone money band.

I carry a keychain with a tiny multi-tool and my keys.. It has a string & box cutter blade and it gets used frequently. Handy little cutter. Also has a bottle opener (never used) and screw driver (occasional). Attached is a pill carrier for some needed drugs. There is a little black magnetic connector on the keychain too. That attaches to all the various vehicle keys I have via a matching connector that is both magnetic + dovetail.

I also carry a phone. Don't carry a flashlight because the phone has one. Don't carry a separate knife daily, but I do occasionally carry a pocket knife when I know I will have use for it.

I'm somewhat similar in the contents of my pockets.

In the RH pocket is a S&W Bodyguard in .38 spl or a S&W PC Shield in 9 mm on my right hip. Left-hand pocket is for keys, on a chain, with a small multi-tool and a mini flashlight attached. Clipped on to the left-hand pocket is also a Benchmade auto knife, If I'm at the house and not in my going to town jeans, the knife is a Buck folder. Left rear pocket is for the phone, if I remember it. Right hand pocket is for the tri-fold wallet which carries all the usual stuff including a credit card sized multi-tool. Hooked on to a belt loop on the left-hand side is the car key. It's one of those proximity type things where all you have to do is have it on you and be close to the vehicle. Loose change is kept in the fob pocket of the jeans.

The routine of checking everything and the placement of everything never varies.

Keys, phone, wallet. The bare minimum. I really dislike having a bunch of crap in my pockets. I guess if I was going somewhere dangerous I might shove a gun in somewhere but I almost never feel the need for that.

Me too.

It is one of the reasons I downsized my wallet, it is roughly 25% smaller than my old billfold and I can fit it in either a front or a rear pocket.

I hate keys, but have to have them. Key rings drive me nuts so I switched to the flat bar type (lots of brands offer these) and have 5 keys plus the tiny multi tool. If I didn't need the pills I wouldn't carry those.

Tape measure and change in the right front pocket, pocket knife and extre keys in the left front and wallet in right hip. In our small town I haven't the need carry to a gun, YET.

hmmmm.
keys, wallet, handkerchief, .380 in holster-not-pocket....
