What if they shut down the government and nobody noticed?

How has the shutdown affected you? I'm soooo surprised - I was reliably informed by the Dems that it spells the end of democracy as we know it. Planes will fall out of the sky & trannies will spontaneously combust. Color me disappointed; I was looking forward to the spectacle.

I'm in the process of getting my social security and medicare set up. So I did a lot of it LAST MONTH to make sure that the processes had all begun while offices were theoretically occupied. It appears that Social Security is remaining open. It appears that Medicare is remaining open. So maybe I had nothing to worry about but being a guy who likes to try to plan ahead, I guess I was just being prudent.

As for the rest of it, nobody is going to notice unless they are a WIC recipient. Being a foster dad, I do worry about that. WIC pays for food for poor kids. I pretty much support that concept.

I think most of the other non-essential services can be reduced, delayed or eliminated and most people won't have a clue they are missing something.

The Federal government may be shut down, but poor service still exists. And local governments are still impeding the progress of life.

We have spent weeks trying to get our granddaughter back into the school she attended two years ago. Crumpy just took a wad of documents showing we live here, have a mortgage, paid taxes, and have done so for the last 50 years.
The school won't let her attend classes until we prove we are residents.
Actually, we were residents when this school was a soy-bean field.

I'm betting illegals have experienced little of this trouble.

Back in the fifties when I was school age, I do not remember my parents, with 5 children in school, had any of these issues getting us "permission" to attend. To my mind we need less government. Shut down is fine.
