What has 4 tracks and a 24" circular blade on a 75' pole ?

Utility crews use those here to cut back the tree lines growing under the power lines. The cab is on the machine, not on the boom, but they leave an awful mess shredded branches underneath their path of destruction. Seems to do a good job.

I can't find the pic now, but I was hunting in NC in a tree box on a gas line behind my sisters house. In the morning I could see them cutting with one of those off mile or so. In the late afternoon it was climbing the hill toward the box getting ready to shut down for the day. I went out with a few beers and got his attention. Chatted for a couple minutes, handed off the beer and got my ass out of the danger area (that 300 feet warning is good to heed). Gained an additional 300 yards line of sight back up the hill he had just come down after he 'touched it up'.

A few years ago we let a helicopter use our yard for trimming trees on the state route we live on.
I was going to ask for a ride in the helo but once I saw how the blades pulled it from side to side and no doors I didn't even ask. But with their insurance I doubt they would allow riders anyhow.

Since it is a fiberglass boom and can extend 75 feet, the 2' diameter sawblade out at the tip bounces a bit. The operator said it required "finesse" ..... not a word you hear from an equipment operator very often The blade can rotate 180 degrees.

I've never seen a Jarraff used along a road before . I think their native habitat is transmission lines like the helicopter saws.
