What are you doing today, II

We all have days like that. It was HOT 🔥 🥵 today. I didn't get much done.

I did make plans to help out a camp friend with the brakes on his truck. His dad was a friend of mine and passed away last year. He's in his early 20s and has taken on the role of "man of the house". He was looking around for a shop to do the work. I told him I would teach him how so he can do it going forward

lets see up at 1:30 to shower and go cook pancakes for runners and staff of a 100 mile forest trail run run starts at 5:00AM the runners have until 5:00 pm sunday (tomorrow) staff the 2nd road crossing for the runners for 5 hours as they come through another crew does the crossing at midnight to 5AM its 8:00 pm now and I'm running out of steam for today.
Tomorrow's schedule up at 5:00 cook breakfast sandwiches for staff and runners that came last night we have another crew coming in at 11:00 to do lunch and dinner

Still digging up pond bottom scum.
Each shovel full is black gold with some stones in it I must glean out one shovel load at a time. I use a gloved had to crumble the black dirt and remove the 1" to 3" round gravel that formerly made up the pond bottom.

Right now, I seem to have enough to cover my big flower bed with 3.O" of black gold dirt. A lot of healthy worms in it. Whoopie!

Tomorrow, I will scavenge some not-so-good soil and use it to enrich the north side yard lawn area. A 6'X20' section of lawn that did not do well after last summer's planting. Hard clay. I got my roto tiller running yesterday (stuck needle valve again) and that will make short work of it.

Got the giant TV up on the cabinets in the shop. Broke the fire stick. Hooked up the optical to a DAC and to the Carver TFM35 in the office with the Cerwin Vegas. Rocking Marley at 250 watts per channel

I'm home from camp. I've been out there since Wednesday. It was hot. It's still hot today. We had a Mexican Fiesta yesterday with our camp friends. One of them brought a couple of young coworkers who just happened to be Mexican. Somewhat of a rarity in Canada. It was fun.

I forgot to mention that I will be running like mad this week. It's our fair weekend this weekend. My wife is on the committee organizing it. I help out for the week leading up to it by doing a lot of the background stuff running around fixing things. First up were the three bbqs the fairgrounds committee owns. They were complaining about them last year and found alternatives to use for the fair. I found out about it and told my wife to get her shoes on. We were over to the fairgrounds property in 5 minutes with my trailer. I loaded them up and hauled them home to give them a once over. One, they were complaining about hot and cold spots. Ok. Lift the lid, one look showed the burner covers out of place. I moved them back and it works. The second one was a bit more involved as the four burners were not in line with the valves. It works now. The third just needs new burner heat covers. Easy fix.

I will be using one of them as I am running a BBQ kitchen feeding roughly 100 volunteers lunch and supper. Hot dogs smokies burgers. For lunch and supper Friday Saturday and Sunday. Kind of a refreshments stop throughout the day as well with pop water coffee tea. I did it last year with about 3 days notice. So I will be running picking up supplies for my kitchen. And we are staying there with the fifth wheel as well as bringing our two golf carts to use. I have to get it all over there.

Braved the heat and the mosquitoes to patch all the cancer on my Tucker. Borrowed a welder from my Kid, had to switch polarity to "positive ground" to utilize flux-core wire. (THAT was a job... this unit was made exclusively for "Negative Ground"). My Son has never welded in his life... he found this welder at a garage sale and just thought he needed one. The Tucker's battery stand now is rigid and stable. Almost time to get the new engine in it. (Almost). A few more issues to address, then re-assembly.

We got a good rain a few hours after I finished for the day. The tomatoes are enjoying it.
