Toons For The Times II

the people of Kuwait might disagree.
Kuwait started it. (Kind'a)

Kuwait financed Iraq during the Iraq/Iran war. They were allies. Until the war ended. The war began before Saddam Hussein came to power. AFTER the war ended, Saddam refused to repay Iraq's war debt to Kuwait. (Not sure if "wouldn't" or "couldn't"..... doesn't really matter).

Kuwait, (a non-OPEC country with no military) decided to sell oil to the United States for $14.00 a barrel when OPEC was selling for $19.00, in an effort to bankrupt Iraq. It was working. I also heard that Kuwait was diagonal-drilling into Iraq's oil fields, stealing their oil. (Unproven, I think ..... but plausable). Saddam went to OPEC to complain, they said "Kuwait is not one of us..... we can't touch them". (They ARE part of OPEC, today). Saddam contacted George H. Bush to complain, he said... "Are you nuts, my Constituents are LOVING this 79-cent gasoline. It's just business, nothing personal".

So Saddam sent his military into Kuwait to kick some ass. Then WE sent OUR Military into Kuwait to kick Saddam's forces out.

......... (It almost played out exactly like Eddie Murphy's movie, "Best Defense", from 1984).

Saddam made his point,..... we made our point..... as far as "Diplomacy" goes on that side of the world, it all worked out rather well.

......... (Until George W. Bush, then shit got REAL stupid).
