The cabin remodel

This is what I saw 300 miles from home in a 2x pickup, I thought I was making a turn around trip, but it was just above me

Loaded up the toys for the first mountain trip of the year. I realized this is memorial weekend so I’m going to leave Tuesday instead of Saturday to avoid the carnage. Going to be nice to have some toys up there to break up the work and have a little fun. First day is going to be all about opening up the place for the summer, spring hookup, driveway, down trees etc. going to put a big dent in the sealing this trip. Be happy to get back on the floor again. Full write up on my return.

is that a coot? I love those things!

Yep it’s a COOT, new engine and converted back to Salisbury clutch and transmission, from hydrostatic, was a horrible mess with a bigger engine and a hydrostatic unit that would only go 5 mph and had hardly any climbing ability. Now it works as intended and is a bunch of fun, I’m going to play with it on the mountain over the summer, then next winter get rid of the crap roll bar and build a nice one over the front and rear then put an aluminum sheet roof on them, to keep the crap out and the sun off. Then a camo paint job.

Getting my ass kicked up here, worst season opening yet, LOTS of down trees, washout etc. I had to carry the batteries to the track loader more than half way down the 1/4 mile driveway due to down trees and washout to get the truck and trailer in. The forest service road wasn’t much better, washout in 2 places one having a 18” deep 3’ wide rut that runs all the way across the road with water running through it, had to use 4 wheel drive to get the trailer across. Then all day yesterday and half of today repairing the spring line that runs down the side of the road for a 1/4 mile. Changed out in total 225’ feet of 1-1/2” pvc that was destroyed by the forest service clearing the road. Most un courteous bunch of assholes in America. All could have been easily avoided by using the back hoe that has a thumb to drop them further out on the hill, instead of just shoving it off the side with the bucket. It happens too much and not that time consuming or difficult to do, just lazy asshole. I don’t have enough internet to load pictures up here but I’ll be home early next week and will post them.
