i was inspecting a tower and just wanted to show the importance of properly wrapping tape. you can see a water bubble on the top wrap.

We were taught in school to shingle the tape from bottom to top to shed the water, I guess they they were taking CRT instead of a trade they could use later on in life.

Tape is worthless as water barrier. self fusing mastic is OK, heat melt is best. I've tried some of the new generation "cold shrink" but I haven't seen the long term. So far it looks promising rivaling heat melt heat shrink, And for places that a torch is problematic I think it will work well.

Useful items, yes.
But even they fail when applied improperly.
Doing it right is a skill which comes only from discipline.
