Slight leak

I have a slight leak underneath my bathroom sink. I took off the connector and noticed that there was a lot of rust. I cleaned the thread and put new sealant on it and tighten it back up. It continues to leak and it’s not a constant leak it’s very slow and it’s in the hot water line.

When I did everything, I use plumbers tape and a plumber sealant, but I noticed that there is no longer a metal washer that normally goes in between, is that really needed or necessary? Can I fix this by taking off the old connector and putting on what they call the shark bite connector?

Welcome to the forum. Can you be more specific on the "connector" that's leaking (specifically as it relates to a washer)? Got a pic?
Normally, under sink connections are sealed only with teflon tape.

It’s the angle connector and I used tape and a sealant. I did not replace it but used the old one but without the brass ring. Is that needed? IMG_3912.jpeg

Yes. It's got to be there or you would have water streaming out of it. It's a compression ring that gets squeezed to the pipe. You should not need to put Teflon tape on the nut.

You absolutely need the brass. I almost always replace it because no sealant will give you as patent a seal.
Brass will mold to a permanent mechanical seal in the imperfections of the fixture and the inlet pipe.
Brass is soft, corrosion resistant and will not dissolve.
Teflon tape and paste sealers will break down.
A new brass washer cost pennies.

So I put in the new brass ring and it was not leaking for several days. Now it’s leaking again. It’s a super slow leak. So I do not know what it can be. Pressure from the hot side is low compared to the cold side. Should I replace the angle stop?

I would replace that shut off valve. It is cooper going into that valve, right?

Yes it is cooper and I replaced the valve with a plastic one. It use to have a metal shut off valve. Should I try and replace it with a metal one. Also I might have been too aggressive with it when putting it in so maybe I will buy another one. First time fixing a leak so could have broken it as water is not pouring out but just a slight leak.

With cooper I would use a metal shut off valve. I've went to the 1/4 turn shut off valves, a little more expensive but they work great.
