For those taking these meds, wondering if you've experienced any side effects?
I've been taking it for years and have known others who after prolonged usage encountered some side effects.

I have shoulder pain that's really bothering me. Can't really lift my arm straight out, hurts when laying down, arm goes numb at times...
X-ray showed no bone damage or arthritis.
Just wondering if it may be related to this med.
Using the link below, here's some of the effects I'm having
  • muscle cramps, pain, stiffness, swelling, or weakness
  • unusual tiredness or weakness
and maybe a couple others but those may not be related (old age?).

Here's a link to the side effects

Ask about using Zetia its a non statin. Youre shoulder may be ligament of soft tissue injury that wont show up on an X ray.

It's been going on for several months. I'd "think" a muscle injury would have cleared up. Would ligament damage show up on an x-ray?
Similar pain happened several years ago and they thought it may be a pinched nerve.

I'd say to get off Lipitor.
Many years ago I was on Lipitor. I had all the symptoms that you describe, especially muscle pain and weakness along with muscle inflammation. I pulled and strained muscles several times. I even ended up in the emergency department thinking that I was having a heart attack with pain across my chest and down my left arm. It turned out it was an inflamed pectoral muscle. When I finally figured it out, I went on a 2-week vacation and forgot the med, the symptoms cleared up. Got off the stuff and was put on a different med, Crestor, that had no side effects and have been taking it for years.

Shoulder injuries can take up to year to heal. Stretch it out. Go online and learn some shoulder stretches. If its a nerve that will help. I had two injuries I fell back ward landed on my back shoulder. Its hard to lift a weight just as you described. Arm forward. and living up. You can also try and strengthen it with dumbbells. If you have pain theres a problem. Have you seen an orthopedist not a regular Dr

I had multiple side effects with atorvastatin. Sister had similar symptoms.
She quit and they went away.
Then I wrote and they went away.
Decided to lose weight. Had my annual blood draw and everything is in line.
But doc insists I go back to the old way and take meds. Nope.

I take Avorastatin, apparently a fairly low dose. I'm always sore, but I blame arthritis. My pain is localized and existed long before I started any statins.

My brother in law was prescribed statins and IMMEDIATELY faced full body pain in his muscles and joints.

When I was a kid, I had meningitis, the mumps, and encephalitis all at once. Michael Reese hospital in Chicago. I don't think they had statins back then.
