Federal financial support despite the obvious bias? Most certainly not for any longer. By any definition, they do not represent the nation.
As a former active supporter of NPR which broadcast here in St Louis under my alma mater, and to whom I donated considerably back
in the 70's, 80's at the corporate level, I am extremely disappointed, if not embarrassed, at the political direction taken by NPR.

Hell, I even did few on air broadcasts promoting the station and its late night Jazz offerings.

I am not suggesting they were 100% balanced in covering the news and events.
Back then, I was a conservative Democrat and perhaps didn't notice the bias
However, back then, I believe they did cover both sides of most issues.
So today it is a leap, to condemn NPR for its biased programing.
But for me, an easy one.

The government should not be subsidizing news and entertainment, of any persuasion. Doing so amounts to government propaganda. It's like State TV in a communist country.
Or in Canada it’s called the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation 😡

STATE FUNDED MEDIA: NPR's CEO Katherine Maher explained, "Truth is a distraction from getting things done". She didn’t realize that 100% of NPR’s editorial staff were Democrats and has never seen any bias in the newsroom.
100% suggest it was a prerequisite for hire. Conservatives need not apply.
That outcome is a truth one cannot convince me to ignore.

-IF- and I do mean -IF- PBS and NPR could provide a true and unbiased news service the maybe I could see an argument for funding them. However, if government has proven anything in the last 50-100 years, it’s that there is no such thing as “unbiased” in anything the government touches.

One could argue 55 years ago when pbs was created there was a need for such a tool. In today’s media world there is no such need and public funding should be pulled. It’s long since outlived is usefulness to tax paying public.

Link: House votes to kill funding for public media

The House of Representatives narrowly approved legislation Thursday to eliminate the next two years of federal funding for public media outlets...

Only 2 years. WTF? You know those little hairy nodules between your legs, Republicans? They're called balls. Use them, FFS. The GOP are only marginally less reprehensible than the Dems. Two sides of the same rancid coin.
