States Considering Redistricting before the 2026 election.
If they do redistrict:
RED would be likely 'safe' seats for the GOP
BLUE would be likely safe seats for the Democrats
Texas: 5 seats
Florida: 3-5 seats
Ohio: 2 seats
Indiana: 1-2 seats
Missouri: 1 seat
California*: 5 seats
*California Requires a constitutional amendment and Arnold "The Terminator" Scwartzeneger has publicly some out to say he will fight any attempt to redistrict the state in a partisan fashion.
So the GOP would likely pick up 12 to 15 seats if ALL of the states that DON'T require a constitutional amendment actually do redistricting. And if, California were somehow able to pass a constitutional amendment, and do a redistricting in time for the 2026 election, which seems unlikely, then the GOP could still potentially pick up 7 to 10 seats in the House.
All that said, there is no guarantee any of these states will do the redistricting, and even if they do, they may not have them completed by the 2026 election. To my understanding, TEXAS is the most likely to get the job done.
