Riding My Can-Am Ryker at age 72

I never learned to ride a mototcycle in my younger years,so I bought me a three wheel automatic. Best move I made in a long time,it my new hobby.:applause::thumbup:
I have a friend with a CanAm, not sure which model, it is an awesome machine

Sounds great.
Similar here. I learned to ride when I was a teen. I owned a Triumph 250. Sold it when I was in the Navy and never bought another till last year. I bought a trike. Honda Goldwing with CSC conversation. So much fun. I love driving it and wife loves to ride along with me. The new Goldwings are what they call DCT semi automatic. Not sure I'd like that. Mine is a 2014 with one down 4 up shifting with clutch. Vroom Vroom. I enjoy running through the gears.

The DCT (dual clutch transmission, 1 clutch for even gears, a 2nd clutch for odd numbered gears) is available on several of the Honda motorcycles from 700cc and up. I’ve got it on 2 of ours. Love it. Don’t miss shifting gears at all. DCT is also used on some high performance cars like Porsche because the shifts are faster than is humanly possible.

Bombardier’s CanAm trikes use a different automatic system from the Honda but the end result is the same. Simple and responsive to operate. The key to all these things is that they keep us riding.

At 61, and with serious arthritis in my left wrist/hand it is doubtful I’d consider riding a traditional bike except on my best days. Certainly not taking a trip on a bike.

But with the DCT equipped bikes the lovely Mrs_Bob and I managed to ride the Great Lakes Circle Route.

We planned Route 66 but got an emergency phone call and a 2 month old foster child was brought to us that changed our lives incomprehensibly. I’d still like to ride Route 66 with the lovely Mrs_Bob but not sure that will happen as we still have 2.5 year old Kobe in our lives and pretty much running our lives! When we thought we were going to lose him we planned to go to Nova Scotia by bike, but we still have him 3-4 days every week and share him with his grandmother.

I’d like to ride up to Edmonton, Canada to visit friends. That would be a journey from Indiana.

Good for you sport.

I had a friend who, when his Harley got too heavy to handle, bought a trike. After he laid the trike over twice in one week in Walmart's carpark his wife said "enough". He dutifully rode the trike off into the sunset ... and came back with a CamAm. Man, his wife was one pissed off little puppy.

James passed away back in February. Lord, I miss him.

I would think the CanAm would be harder to tip over than a traditional trike with dual wheels on the back. The CanAm handles more like a snowmobile. It is a very intriguing ride, and it seems a heck of a lot safer than a 2 wheel bike and possibly a good bit safer than the Harley or Gold Wing trike conversions???
