Man, they should have given all tickets away free for that Marlins game. Do you know how hard it is for a TV network to try to get "that shot" that makes it appear as if the stands are full?! With an estimated 400 people there, I'd venture to guess that half of those were either stadium employees or relatives of the players. Hell, they should have paid people $20 to show up for the game to save face. The more people see empty seats on MLB highlight clips, the more the sport declines in credibility. I played organized baseball from the time I was about 5 years old until I was 16. I loved the game. But, somewhere along the line, things changed and I just lost interest. As a matter of fact, true story, my last at bat was a single off of a guy named Don Mattingly. Yup, that Don Mattingly. He was a pitcher in high school and led his team to state titles. He was a man playing with boys back then. He still lives just out the road from me. Not at all like we're buddies or anything, but he is involved with local charities and I see him a few times a year.
But I digress; for all intents and purposes, MLB seems to be in its death throes.
