Romney affirmed again today that if he is elected President that he would not appoint Bernanke for a 3rd term. When asked if he has considered anyone to replace Bernanke, he replied ""I haven't considered a single person at this point, given no names any thought or deliberation,"

does that seem odd to anyone else?

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

No.

He knows who he doesn't want. End of story.

I want Obama gone. I don't care who replaces him.

Wanting someone gone is fine and good. Not caring who the person is that replaces them, seems like a dangerous precedent to set.

Not really. I want Obama gone.

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

Did he say he didn't care?
Huge assumption.

Just because your psyche dictates you have to have someone better in mind before you make a firing decision, does not mean anybody else works the same way. And then equating that to doesn't care? Seriously. Huge leap.

Bernanke needs to go. Even having nobody is better.

Not really. Placing anynames in contention just gives the opposition targets.

Romney never posted a list of VP candidates. He isn'teven officialy the nominee for Pres! Yet we spent the last three months listening to what was right and wrong with just about anybody who "might" be on his short list.

Hell I hope he appoints Ron Paul. That the whole thing in about five seconds. But that nuclear bomb can wait until January 20th 2012.

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

Actually when I said "didn't care" it was in response to the first reply on this thread, where Frank said he "didn't care". My "psyche" tells me that if you plan on replacing the head of the central bank, you should probably have some idea what sort of person you'd like to put in the spot. Even if he hasn't decided on anyone, he should AT least have given it some thought. I dont expect him to name names because of course that puts him in a place for nothing but second guessing and scrutiny, but to go out of your way to assure someone you've given something "no thought", seems odd.

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

Romney has about as much in common with Ron Paul as my chi-weenie does. Romney will never put someone in charge of anything that will reduce the size or scope of the government.

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

I'm sure Romney cares deeply who the next head of the fed will be, jen, and has given it plenty of thought. Sorry. It just won't be Bernanke. I nice twist would be to have him thrown in prison.

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

At least Romney knows what the fed is, what it does, the good, bad, and the ugly. Hussien, on the other hand, hadn't a clue.

That is really true Kane. It is surprising how many Americans actually think that the FED is a government agency.

I love Ron Paul and what he stands for. But, God love him, he would have us back to trading in trinkets and beads. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Romney will pick a good man, better suited for the task than Bernanke, for sure.

What?

I think you may be too hung up on ideaology with Mitt. And what you believe about his ideology may actually be incorrect.

He is a businessman. And he would most assuredly pursue the concept of smaller government. If he doesn't he will lose the TEA's

Unlike Obama, who will stick with his personal political agenda no matter the consequensces, Romney is all about achievement of success, of meeting goals, and delivering expectations.

He is expected to change things in DC. He doesn't just hope to change things, he is intent on doing so. If Ron Paul (or for that matter Warren Buffet) was the best man for a post in Romney's cabinent,I believe he would approach the man for the task.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if Romney was able to get rid of the fed's dual mandate. Preserving the value of the dollar and maximizing employment are often contrary goals. Just another hand-off of responsibility from an inept Congress.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on this. He is more concerned with hiding his tax records than he is in winning the presidency. You have a much higher opinion of Romney than most of his supporters, at least those I've talked to. I truly hope that you're right about him. If he wins and you're right and he selects the best people for jobs, I will happily admit I was wrong.

I'll join the NO crowd. When elected to office, it's at the point that the president-elect surrounds himself with advisers who assist him in the selection process of key office appointees. Even if he were to have someone in mind at this time, he's smart enough to NOT give any fodder to the lame street media to speculate on and/or begin the character assassination of the prospect(s), which is what these ass holes are best at. Holder is another anti-American who will be in the top five incompetents furloughed, and will probably be replaced by anyone who could be considered a patriotic American instead of this racist who spits in the face of the constitution and refuses to prosecute the black panthers for DOCUMENTED voter intimidation, refuses to investigate the same racist group for making threats against America, and lies to the Congress about his role in Fast & Furious.

As long as they stop the printing presses anybody will be better than Ben. Same goes for Geitner. The sooner they are gone the sooner we can begin healing a very wounded economy.

And just exactly what about his tax records have anything to do with being president? He released what was required. The IRS is all-powerful; if Romney had done anything wrong on his returns, they would have got him long ago. And it would be big news with the MSM.

It a bullshit distraction, and though curious as to what a very successful man does with his money to shelter it legally from from oppressive taxes is of interest to me, I am very glad he's sticking his middle finger up the liberal asses calling for this, while the hypocritical libs hide ALL of O's records and other records such as fast/furious.

What a typical Liberal argument.

Substitute "birth certificate" for "tax records" and substitute "conservative" for "liberal" and you've got a nearly verbatim article from most right wing websites regarding Obama.

Funny....:whistling:

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

Another liberal argument.

Not having a valid birth certificate is quite different than filing taxes, having them checked by the IRS, and moving on.

A president is required to prove citizenship, and he avoided it for so long it became suspicious.

A citizen having earned or unearned income must file. He did. The IRS has not gone after him for not doing so, nor have they gone after him for errors, omissions, etc from his returns. He filed legal returns, and took legal deductions. No more proof is required. The IRS would have him in jail otherwise.

No, different argument altogether.
I can do smileys too:w00t2:

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

Obama is not a natural born citizen, a constitutional requirement.

Bernake needs to be fired & forced to live on his pension.

He promised NEVER to monetize the debt, turned on a dime and has been monetizing it ever since.

Inflating food costs worldwide which contributed to the "Middle East Spring" and the "revolutions" in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya (billion dollar Obama war) and Syria which has killed over 20,000 so far.

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

Obama provided adequate proof to prove his citizenship status before he began running.

You are making patently false, repeatedly disproven and debunked claims that stopped being worth dignifying with a response years ago. That you would pull the birther thing, puts us in such differing playing fields that I don't know where to start. I would prefer to think that you don't believe in such garbage.

Even the GOP wants to put this to rest because it makes their members look crazy.

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

Once again the left obfuscates. Obama is a citizen Hawaii granted a BC to anyone who asked. Including Sun Yat-sen, Republic of China President.

The issue is natural born citizen, Obama is un-eligible.

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

And his mom and grandparents planned ahead and had his birth announcement put in the paper? The absolute lack of any evidence that his mother traveled outside the country near the time of his birth doesn't concern you? The fact that the only shred of evidence (using that term lightly) is the claim that Obama's paternal grandmother said he was born in Kenya, is enough for you to make such a claim?

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

I'm sorry. What am I obfuscating?? I don't seem to be able to pinpoint what you're claiming I'm averting or hiding or ducking.

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

And how did he travel to Afagnistan in 1981 on a US passport? It was illegal at the time. How many passports has he used, and from what countries...? Did any of them origininate in the USA? To many questions I know...But un answered they are.

Re: ""I haven't considered a single person at this point..." says Romney - cda

Has he a REAL social security number? I have never heard the answer to that either. Why are his records for colledge sealed? Why WHy WHy...is it so hard to find out who he really is when so much of his past is under legal lock and key....How many times has George Sorro's visited the oval office in his term? Do you know who "uncle George" is in the democratic party???

Show me, I will listen. If not stop defending the bumb...

Actualy he did not. He provided a document that was patently fraudulent. And this only after two years of pressure and court battles.

Much like saying the Holder's dept of Justice turned over thousands of pages of documents regarding Fast and Furious without noting that most of them were entirely redacted.

Has anyone explained how Barry was born in Hawaii while his mother was in school in Seattle Washington?
Or was it Kenya where his paternal grandmother claims to have witnessed the event?

Kind of a Jet set thing don't you think?

Rather remarkable for someone born to poverty.

The GOP wants it put to the side because they have failed to prevail in the courts over it,,,,and they have their own darlings with bent credentials. Can you say Marco Rubio?
And let us not forget that the Congress had to set it right for Barry's opponent in the last election. Seems Mccain was not bornon Americansoil and had to prove his birthright to run for the office. Have we all forgotten that demand in 2008?
