Going to be selling my motorcycles :-(

Not happy about it, but I'm going to be selling off a couple motorcycles and all my gear.

Left wrist pain/arthritis/degenerative joint conditions are forcing me to realize that I'm not going to be able to continue. Literally haven't ridden this season. I think I took a couple short rides around the block last season. So it's been 2 years of dealing with the wrist issue and no sign that a miracle is going to happen.

Both bikes are nearly identical. Same model, 2 years apart. 2016 and 2018.

This is not a formal "for sale" ad. I'll be selling the bikes on a Honda forum where I am a long standing member, but if anyone is interested you can send me a PM and I'll give F.F. members first shot at this stuff.

2106 black Honda NC700 with DCT Transmission, (back bike in first photo below) Givi Side Cases and Givi rack system, Denali DRL running lights, Madstad 16" touring windshield, Corbin custom seat + original factory seat, original windscreen, Soupy's Adjustable Lowering kit, under 5000 miles.

2018 red/silver Honda NC750 (pictured below) with DCT Transmission, Hepco & Becker Gobi side & top case with H&B rack system that is quick detach, Denali DRL running lights, Madstad 18"touring windshield, custom Russell's Day Long Saddle, Honda Bike Pro "Dale's Rack" rear seat replacement, + original factory seats, original windscreen, under 8000 miles.

Going to be selling off my riding gear too, basically 1/2 price including shipping to continental US states. All in very good condition. All size Large: KLIM Induction Pro Jacket, upgraded Level 2 back protector, used 1 season, First Gear Kilimanjaro Jacket (4 years old, used 2 seasons), upgraded Level 2 back protector, KLIM Gore Tex Rain Jacket. Rev'it Tornado 2 riding pants. Couple different pairs of KLIM riding pants. Misc other stuff. Heck of a good pair of nearly new riding boots.

The lovely Mrs_Bob's gear is going to go too. She has a couple nice jackets, women's large. One rainproof, one fully ventilated. Upgraded pads and back protectors in hers too.

Not happy about this but reality is really setting in with regards to my left wrist and the future. There are just some things I am not going to be able to do. Hell I can barely hold a coffee cup in my left hand on bad days. Other days I can use a chain saw, but then I'm in pain for 2 days after I use it. So our dream of a "route 66" adventure will probably happen in a convertible car instead of on the bikes. At least we got in the Great Lakes Circle trip on the bikes, and that was a monumental adventure.

Tough decision to hang up the helmet. Good luck selling them.

After my accident, I spent the winter in the garage rebuilding the old goldwing and was about 90% complete when I realized that I have a hard time lifting both arms up to handlebar height for any length of time most days due to where my back broke. That was 9 years ago. I just sold the goldwing this spring.

YUP

The lovely Mrs_Bob talked me out of selling them last year. And again in January of this year.

My arthritis meds have been in failure mode for 2+ years and I've been having lots of pains. But the left wrist is the real issue. I can manage the pain, often without meds, in all my joints EXCEPT that left wrist. Any jolt or impact and I 'see stars' and on a motorcycle that left hand/wrist is pretty critical in maintaining control of the bike.

One of my Dad's favorite expressions was lamenting the fact that growing older was NOT for wimps. Words that I too have come to realize. Not be able to do the things or not being able to do them at the level we once could is sometimes hard to accept. However, it is a fact of life and sadly Old Man Time always wins. :(

At 75 my bikes are long gone. Sports cars are long gone. Nowadays it is a Jeep and a Maverick both 4x4 where I sit up higher with good visibility.

They told me that I needed surgery to reattach my shoulder now I do 275lb presses after telling the doctor to screw. Never give up, until they fold. There are some good videos on youtube about this https://www.chemyo.com/mk677/

Sorry Bob. Sad day. I know how much you enjoyed riding and I know you've dealt with rheumatoid arthritis for years, now this, I feel for ya.
Best wishes for whichever way you end up going, sell or not.

edit to add:
you might consider getting one of the fun trail side by sides. Lots of fun.

I hated giving up my motorcycle life. But Crumpy wasn't a part of it so I dropped the hobby.

Yeah, it is tough and I do miss it. Every time I hear one go past the house or past me on the Interstate. I can't think of anything, with the exception of good sex, that is more thrilling than the surge you feel as you squeeze the fuel tank and throttle up on the highway.

So I can relate.
So sorry Bob.

Well FWIW, apparently I am not asking enough for my gear on the HONDA website.

Listed a few items for sale on the Honda NC website. Sold them on the ADV rider website, which I also frequent.

On the Honda website I had a GoreTex shell listed at $90 and got no offers; sold it for $124 on the ADV website.
On the Honda website I had a mesh jacket listed at $220 and got no offers; sold it for $250 on the ADV website.
I did sell a Honda specific part on the Honda website for more than I paid for it, but it is a desirable accessory that was custom made and no longer in production. Got $250 for a luggage rack.

I guess it helps to know your audience. At this point I have things for sale on BOTH websites. I've gone in and increased the prices on the Honda website. It is focused on my specific motorcycles. The other website it not brand specific and much larger audience. The gear I'm selling is higher end gear and I'm pricing it at less than 50% of the cost, which seems really reasonable to me.

But damn, I'll take more cash if I can get it

Maybe I need to raise some prices?

This is the last of my premium motorcycle jackets available. I have it listed at $250. It probably retailed at close to $600 5 or 6 years ago, it has huge ventilation that has foldable back panels that have velcro closures to seal them. Premium leather on the wear points. I used it for 2 season. It's been hanging in the closet for close to 3 years. Highest CE level non-racing armor and wear resistance. It is also water resistant but, because of the mesh not water proof. Part of me is hoping it doesn't sell. If it doesn't sell fairly quickly I may remove the protective body armor and use it as a spring/fall jacket.

The jacket I wore the most is still for sale, it's a mid-high brand. FirstGear. Totally waterproof, but breathable shell jacket with armor. I'd keep that too, but I like this KLIM better. And the FirstGear is basically 1/2 the price of this jacket and 40% of original retail.
