Thought this was interesting. Maybe we will see more model updates as the designs seem to be aging, and, frankly pretty ugly.

Elon Musk Fires Loyal Minion and Tesla Executive Omead Afshar

Elon Musk has fired one of his closest minions, Omead Afshar, from his position as Tesla head of operations for North America and Europe, as the EV giant faces flagging sales and business problems around the world.
Bloomberg reports that Tesla is facing another significant executive departure as Omead Afshar, a powerful leader and one of CEO Elon Musk’s closest allies, has left the company after being fired by Musk, according to people familiar with the matter. The news of Afshar’s exit has been circulating internally among employees in recent days, with his name no longer appearing in the company’s internal directory.
Afshar, who worked in the office of the CEO, was promoted last year to oversee sales and manufacturing operations in the crucial North American and European markets. These regions have become particularly challenging for Tesla recently, with sales declining due to increased competition from China, Tesla’s dated EV lineup, and backlash against Musk from Tesla’s fanatical left-wing customer base.
. . .
These personnel changes highlight the tumultuous year Tesla has been experiencing, with its shares falling approximately 19 percent and demand for its electric vehicles waning. Musk has been focusing his efforts on reorienting the company around artificial intelligence, robotics, and driverless cars, recently launching a limited number of the long-awaited Tesla robotaxis in Austin, Texas.
Afshar joined Tesla in 2017, according to his LinkedIn profile, just as the company was ramping up production of the Model 3 sedan. He worked closely with Musk during the challenging “Model 3 hell” period, often spending holidays and important personal events alongside the CEO. Afshar was also instrumental in overseeing the construction of Tesla’s plant in Austin.

I have no issues with EVs for those people that find that practical. I just drive too much for them to be a practical alternative to gas or diesel vehicles. I simply need more range, my daily driving often pushes the limits of a typical EV's "80%" range. But I have to admit that given the options, Tesla has the best technology, best recharging, etc.

I dont like Tesla vehicles. Well, let me just say I don't like any EV at all.
Then don't buy one. But others who like them should be allowed the option of Electric or Fossil fuel.
My biggest objection to EV's is the requirement to only have them in the future.
They have their place in our personal vehicle fleet.

For those who cannot remember or were born after 1970, cars from the 50's had a range of only 200-250 miles or so. Just like many EV's today. And somehow, that was enough to put a year's salary into one.

But there was a gas station every 20 miles. Is there a charging station every 200 miles? I think not.
This!!! And, I want to see someone trying to carry a container of charging fluid along side the road to recharge their batteries!

And, I will not buy one!

In all fairness, they are not for me and do not fit into our lifestyle. Those that like them and they work for them, more power to them. I just dont see them as a total replacement for the gas, diesil, and other fuel burners that are in existance at the present time.

Excuse me! What has that to do with the facts? Or what I said?

I lived at a time when the average sedan range was 250 miles and many times one had to plan ahead to be sure fuel supplies were available. Becaue they weren't always available everywhere. Like in Nevada or Arizona. Most of us kept a gallon can in the trunk when making long trips.

At one time we went to the general store to get gasoline for the model "T" in a can. You didn't travel farther than the fuel supply lines. Same with electric. Until we have widespread charging stations range is limited. Also, with EV's there is charging time. That will improve as it has already. But for local commutes to work and shopping, charging time is at night with the car parked in the garage.
Ev's have their place. And are a benefit.

I remember when first married, I commuted 35 miles each way to work on a small motorcycle. The big '65 Plymouth burned 8-10 miles a gallon. The Yamaha bike, 45. Today I would consider one of the big electrics for the same reasons.

EV's have their place. They are here to stay. If it doesn't fit you, don't buy one. And hope the Gubmit doesn't force you to do so.
That is the issue.
Get real.

Sooner of later they will have to hire somebody like pinanfarina and get some style in the fleet.
I was recently in s Model S Plaid. Still ugly.
There are three things wrong with EV's
1) They have limited range
2) They are expensive
3) Yep,THEY ARE UGLY!

"Then don't buy one."

Get real.

You said the above in red and, I answered I wont buy one. That is what it has to do with it.

I am real, living in a real world as screwed up as it is getting. I doubt that many are "real" anymore, living in their fantasy world of this is here to stay and that will be going away. I am not a Kool aid drinker. ;)

I don't understand the stying.
No engine, so hood can be short, like a porsche slantnose, the back could be like an xke or a 70s vette. The world is wide open for styling

Unless the government changes it policies you may not have the choice.
Trump will only be President for 3 1/2 more years.
How many states have passed laws that petro fueled cars cannot be sold there?
Some have rescinded because of current political climate.
That may not last.

Sadly, it is not the technology or the styling that is the problem.
It is leftist, overbearing, & controlling liberals that have F#cked up the system.
And, our lives.
THAT is what we have to deal with. How confident are you that we can.

Remember, despite Trump's first term successes, Biden did get elected.

You see, this is really not about EV's.

I think you are onto something here hopefully someone at Tesla agrees. Wind tunnel drag coefficients are not the end all be all.
Lots of safety barriers I bet as well.

Ya'll should keep in mind that the original, marketable technology of the Tesla was barely breaking ECONOMIC VIABILITY as well as operational efficiency. Sacrifices in design, user preference and style most certainly came into the picture.

Those who know me best may remember that I was not a fan of the vehicle at its inception. My issues were meeting the needs of the driving public and government subsidies. Body Design was irrelevant.
I would example the Karmann Gia. Nice looking little sportster but underneath, it was just a Volkswagen.

Just for sh!ts and grins, I would say this;
I would suggest that the Chrysler SRT was considered to probably be the most aerodynamically efficient production car ever built. The Tesla could look like that. It would accelerate faster and possibly handle just as well as the SRT. It still would not fit my needs.

I see a place for the EV's. Most homes have two vehicles. EV could be for around town and commute to work. SUV or a sedan for over the road travel.
I rode in a tesla taxi in April. It was impressive. The pickup was awesome. But before I would ever consider owning one I would like to see a better design. I agree all offerings are rather fugly. And, a big AND, the price would have to drop dramatically. I see neither on the horizon so I see no EV in my future. But I will not rule it out forever.

It would be a good thing for me since most days I go to my building 3 miles away, or home depot for small stuff 6 miles away, go with the wife to Aldi or Meijer 5 miles away and so on.
But I'm not paying even 20k to do so, but even at 10k, I am not driving an ugly car. I refuse to drive an ugly car. My entire life.
Make it good looking, I'll consider.

Ugly is just skin deep. So is good looking. Just saying.
I drive a 2001 Dodge Ram extended cab with 116,000 + miles on it. Clear coat peeling off, dents on right, left, and rear, a/c doesnt work but it is dependable and gets me to and fro where ever I decide to go and when I want to go. Load up her bed or hook her to a large loaded farm trailer and off she goes without a wimper. She may not be a looker but she gets me where I want to go and I am not ashamed to drive her.

I drive a 1995 Dodge one ton. Dually wheels and a diesel.
I cannot help but align with your thinking here.
I have had shirts printed that say;
"Real trucks have Dually wheels, Manual Transmission, and say Cummins on the side,"

One has this added kicker;
"Everything else is just a pee-cup"

It is battle weary with plenty of scars. However, at 420,000 miles I drive it with pride!

I think of vehicles like I do women. A women that has fake breasts, fake nails, fake lips, fake eye lashes but wants a "real man". Yeah, right. How about being a real woman first. I feel the same way about vehicles. It is not all in the looks.

Mine is 318 automatic, with towing rearend. Standard everything, no power windows, door locks etc. The only upgrade is the cruise control and that is it.
