I just went off on one of my kids becaseu he has recently started saying things like, "Come with." "Go with." I got to thinking about it, why does this drive me nuts? It is not gramatically correct is it? Why do people do it? Does it bother anyone else? Sometimes I just need another opinion.
I think it bothers you when your son says it because how we speak, or our kids, makes an impression on strangers. Possibly you are worried about him making a negative impression and having people judge him by that? I know that has been a concern of mine. I don't want them to sound like wanna be gangsters or a ditzy, brainless girl.
I have always used big words when speaking to them, though they make fun of me for it. After they are done laughing, I define the word and then tell them, "It's called a vocabulary. Get one!"
I think it's working as those incidents are fewer and farther in between and I notice every now and again, they incorporate larger words into their speaking vocabulary.
Thanks. Somethings just bother me. I am having another coffee, my son will be fine.
Oh another thing that drives me nuts, and actually the reason I wont carry my handgun into a resturaunt. People blowing thier noses while I am eating. Does that bother anyone else?
I have been sicker than a dog for about 3 weeks. I finally feel really, really good and am getting ready to go workout and see how that goes. That is probably why I am in such a good mood today and picking on people.
YES! I am completey disgusted by nose blowing, in restaurants or any public place, but a restroom. That's where that stuff belongs.
My other pet peeve are handkerchiefs. I'm so glad they have gone by the way, for the most part. Every once in a while, I will notice a man pull one out.
The sound of someone blowing their nose in a restaurant is bad, but not as bad as someone coughing into the back of your head on a plane, or worse, sneezing without covering their face.
Bonehead
Yuck! That is the worst part of trip on an airplane, the close quarters with sick people who haven't manners or common sense.
It disgusts me when people spit in public.....just walking along a street and spit on the floor........vermin scum.
Why do people do that? What necessitates spitting period, much less in public. I don't ever need to spit unless I'm brushing my teeth or in the dentist office and then, they don't even require you to do that anymore, since they have suction hoses now. No more bowls.
Spitting in public is just filthy.
