The problem is that there are only two radios there, Al. The high frequency rig sitting on top of the shelf with the lit display, and the vhf/uhf suspended under the shelf with the eerie green light. The rest is two tuners, power supply, wattmeter, laptop and too many wires. I'm getting my new QRP rig (operates on max 5w) today, so I need to reorganize to get that one setup. It comes with a Signal Link USB interface box and another tuner designed just for low power rigs like this one. Here's what I'm getting today (the switching power supply is not included)...Holy Crap ! That is a lot of Radios . So are you in charge of all Landing and Take Offs for the entire Eastern seaboard Air system or just your State ???
I would be lost .....
I have a few friends that still have their original rigs for posterity sake. As for me, I've only been in this thing for two years, and at 62 I'm not into keeping around more crap than I can use. I've been swapping, buying and selling to get to where I'll have three modern rigs once the QRP rig gets here today, and that should hold me over for the winter.Just think .....when I first got into haming there were no sush thing as trancevers.......so you would have had 4 units instead of 2.......and then consider that then multy bander transmiters were very rare....I had two Globes...and 2 Halicrafter 96s and a Johinson viking......then 4or 5 home built cristal rigs that I could croud up or down band ......My first trancever was a johnson white face..that I had converted to 10 meters using cristals....then when I got legal..actualy when I got caught and was told toget a lisence or face punishment......so I got my novice and then I went to gen then to advanced...then on the last day that the 20 word was to be given pased and went to extra.........novice....WN0UIG....I think.......Gen....WB0UIG....advanced KI0HO....and when I went to extra I kept the advanced cause they were doing away with that rateing and I thought it would be neet to keep it..........After I got legal my first real rig was a Heathkit SB-104 along with the speaker cabnent..the phone patch, the SB-liner[cant remember what the mod on that was....and the SB-power supply...whitch I still have........Boy was I shiting in tall cotten when I had that rig up and running!!!!!!Talking Proud!!! Kind of liked that Heath green!!!!!! then when we were in KC. I donated the heath gear to a highschool club and I bought a Yeasu FT-900....I could get that one in the pickup!!!!!!! Hell that heath had to be hauled in the back!!!! some day Ill get back active.....Hell there are so many new modes now days ! in Emporia was on 2 meter a lot.......oh well some day.......![]()

Some of the guys hadent been home for a long time and I couldnt find it in my self to cut them off....Mom came in the shak one night and said ...we cant stand the bill this month as it ..........I ask her if she remembered when I would call home from Guam and nam?.......I got a yes........said theres the button hit it.....she just shok her head and walked out........it always got paid.....Now days with cell phones and internet ect...I would bet a lot of new hams have never had a phone patch or even know how to work one!!!!!

I used to call the 9070 looking for you, but the guy who supposedly owns the equipment chased me off for calling cq after not hearing from you. I've heard about this guy from other hams calling the reflector, but didn't believe it until it happened to me. He can take his node and...i have a ts-140 kenwood havn't put it on the air yet hoping to do so this winter i urge you all to try to dial up the alaska reflector 9070 and give me a call usualy listening in for you guys getting up in the age irlp is a great alternitive as it always works and you don't need an antenna farm to talk around the world
