Barack Obama 'stupid quote of the day'

Well this guy just really says some amazing things. And the sad fact is that people love to hear the drivel that spews out of his mouth. I thought maybe we needed to record some of it. As you find something that baffles you, just post it here.

This is the one that dumbfounded me today:

"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world.
I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it."

eehhh????????
Yup, your comment pretty much sums it up.

Oh and Obama's wife Michelle is not much better. I'm proud of my country every day. Not her. Apparently she doesn't much like this nation because she's only had just one day in her adult life where she was proud of this nation.

. . . let me tell you something, for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. . .

Michelle Obama

The conservative talkers were sure laying into Obama today. If he gets the Democratic nod it will be a slam dunk for the Republicans.

That is the whole idea, support him until he gets the nod and then flip sides. Either democrat will add to the bloated government with their own special programs.

Something I heard on the evening news relates to that. It seems the preacher at the Obamas' church has been preaching anti-American drivel for years. Apparently it has been soaking in.

Something I heard on the evening news relates to that. It seems the preacher at the Obamas' church has been preaching anti-American drivel for years.

You mean stuff like this?
Obama's Pastor: God Damn America, U.S. to Blame for 9/11

Sen. Barack Obama's pastor says blacks should not sing "God Bless America" but "God damn America."

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism."

In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, "I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial." He said Rev. Wright "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with," telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.

Rev. Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle, baptized their two daughters and is credited by Obama for the title of his book, "The Audacity of Hope."

An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.

"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people," he said in a 2003 sermon. "God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.

"We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost," he told his congregation.

Sen. Obama told the New York Times he was not at the church on the day of Rev. Wright's 9/11 sermon. "The violence of 9/11 was inexcusable and without justification," Obama said in a recent interview. "It sounds like he was trying to be provocative," Obama told the paper.

Rev. Wright, who announced his retirement last month, has built a large and loyal following at his church with his mesmerizing sermons, mixing traditional spiritual content and his views on contemporary issues.

"I wouldn't call it radical. I call it being black in America," said one congregation member outside the church last Sunday.

"He has impacted the life of Barack Obama so much so that he wants to portray that feeling he got from Rev. Wright onto the country because we all need something positive," said another member of the congregation.

Ahhhhh!! The black prejudiced pastor. I have a white nazi-like passtor. God?

No..... Just hate justified via a book.

Sushi, sorry but the book does not justify stupidity, hatred or bigotry.

Now back to the topic at hand . . . I was stunned by something Obama said. Describing his proposal for a phased withdrawal from Iraq, Obama added that it would:
"send a message to the Iraqis as well as to the regional powers including Iran and Syria that they have to take some ownership for creating some stability there."
Barack Obama

Well this one is from February. Senator Obama was lending his support for the Washington DC gun ban (you know the one that several lower courts have overturned as unconstitutional) . . . Clearly Mr Obama is anti-gun, he says so. But he is also anti-Constitution and obviously feels that the document is inconvenient so it can simply be dismissed when he deems it appropriate.
“The notion that somehow local jurisdictions can’t initiate gun safety laws to deal with gang bangers and random shootings on the street isn’t born out by our Constitution. . . ”
Barack Obama

He said this one yesterday, when he was distancing himself from his pastor. You know the pastor that he has gone to for advice since 1990 when he joined that church?

I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country . . .
-- Barack Obama
Funny, but now he has gotten all patriotic. I guess he forgot about about the fact that he doesn't put his hand over his heart or recite the pledge of Allegiance :smileywac I know it's been posted in this thread already, but it seems most appropriate here!

Well how about Obama and class warfare? Let's overthrow the rich people and take what they have! Redistribute their wealth, buy everyone a 60" HDTV, but they still won't have jobs!!!

In an environment of scarcity, where the cost of living is rising, folks begin to get angry and bitter and look for scapegoats. Historically, instead of looking at the top 5% of this country that controls all the wealth, we turn towards each other. . .

Like I have said before, "They will stop bitching as soon as it becomes free" and as soon as they start using it they will start bitching again.

What is that saying "20% do 80% of the work. Well keep taxing the 20% and eventually they will go away.

So where is this Bird Flu of which everyone was in a panic about a couple years ago? Sure there have been a dozen people die in remote areas of China, perhaps a half dozen more in Indonesia, but there were politicians running around saying millions would die in the US alone.
When we think of the major threats to our national security, the first to come to mind are nuclear proliferation, rogue states and global terrorism. But another kind of threat lurks beyond our shores, one from nature, not humans - an avian flu pandemic.
-- Barack Obama

Bird Flu still a problem that is getting worse. But that's real news, and would require work by reporters to get it right. So much easier to write about the great Obama or the great Clinton, or that liar Bush.

They've got evidence of bird to human, then human to human. It <could> be a bad thing. Could is the operative word.

Well "If" the bird flu becomes a human to human, then we should worry as a world because they (the birds) don't pay attention to boarders.

We currently have a better chance of some goofy radical religious groups sneaking a nuclear device of some kind into a major US seaport...

I am certainly not going to lose sleep over something that "May or may not happen", the radical religious groups are a fact, and will happen as soon as they get the chance....

Back to the topic at hand . . . exhibiting a bit of arrogance here? :fart2:
"a light will shine down from somewhere, it will light upon you, you will experience an epiphany. And you will say to yourself, I have to vote for Barack. I have to do it"

"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it." -- Barack Obama
:confused: And with that I bet he will

Barack Obama April 12 said:

"What is absolutely true is that people don't feel like they're being listened to. So they pray and they count on each other and they count on their families. You know this in your own lives.

And what we need is a federal government that is actually paying attention. A government that is fighting for working people day in and day out making sure that we are trying to allow them to live out the American dream and that's what this campaign is about."

--Barack Obama

Sorry Senator, but I learned long ago to pray that the Federal government would stay out of my life, to leave me alone. Last time I checked, most every time the Federal government came by to 'help me' it cost me money, opportunities or jobs.

But you now are saying you want to 'allow me' to live my life, well gee thanks for that, you are now going to allow me to have my rights! Seems like you are an elitist jackass to me.

The help is for people who need it. You dont need it. Simple, no?

Yep, I agree Bob. Sure sounds elitist to me. We allow some people to represent us in congress. Congress does not 'allow' us to live our lives. :pat:

The elitist idea of 'help' is often so counter productive that it hurts everyone and helps nobody. Like when they help us by preventing a wind farm generating plant off the coast of Martha's Vinyard because it would spoil the view from the Kennedy summer residence and therefore not provide clean power. Or when they help us by preventing the drilling in ANWAR on less than 2% of the land up there so that we all have to pay hostage rate oil prices to nations that are intent on destroying us. Or when they impose heavy regulatory burdens on American businesses but then push for agreements like the Koyoto Accord that excludes nations like China from having to adhere to the same anti-pollution standards our businesses must comply with, which in turn allows them to undercut our prices and consequently put our factories out of business. Or on more local levels how about disarming honest citizens and then plea-bargaining down violent offenders so they don't spend time in jail? Or maybe jacking up 'sin' taxes on cigarettes to pay for programs that will grow in cost while the sales of cigarettes shrink every year . . . leading them to raise other taxes that hurt even more people!?!

Please, we don't need more of that kind of help!
