$235.00 Cash and a 58 Year Old Picture of a Girlfriend

FrancSevin

Proudly Deplorable
The other night, My wife and I were awakened by a calamity. One of the cats had knocked her milk off the nightstand and shorted out the power bar.
All the noise and cussing, mostly me, with all the bedroom lights out at 2:30 in the AM. Foggy brained confusion, mayhem, frustration, for being so rudely awakened.... Fortunately, I had wired the bedroom with a ground fault. Unfortunately, the reset outlet was behind my nightstand. It is actually big heavy, cherry file cabinet repurposed because it matches our bedroom furniture.

Money and a picture? I'm getting there.

So, after moving the bed and lifting the very heavy File cabinet/night stand, I was able to reset the circuit. Lights came on. But now I had a mess from what was knocked off my light stand and behind it on the floor. I picked it all up, laid the mess of stuff on the night stand and crawled back in bed. "I'll straighten things out in the morning."

I am getting there.

So in the morning I picked everything up and sorted it out on the night stand. The clock radio, my car keys, some receipts, My wallets, and a Firefighter Snoopy doll. Went to the kitchen and made breakfast. Came back from breakfast and got myself dressed.

OKAY, I'm getting there!

As I went to pocket my wallet I noticed it felt different. Looking closer I saw a wad of bills I didn't remember being there. Wait a minute,,,,WALLETS? When did I get two wallets?

I opened it up and saw my wife's picture. The one I have carried of her, from High School Senior year, that I have carried for over 57 years. And that's when it hit me. This was my old wallet!

What the hell? I thought was stolen from my truck last spring!

Sure enough, there was the $235 and all my credit cards.
But most important was that faded and worn picture of the love of my life.

BTW, she is still my girlfriend. :whistling: (y)
